  1. I agree, this is a great looking model! I've always like the lines of these cars. You really did the kit justice! If I may make a suggestion, try to get some of the light behind you/in front of the subject. I'd normally recommend taking it oustide, but this time of year that might not be an option. It's just a shame to lose such nice work in the shadows.
  2. You're all off the mark. At least you're correct about the model not doing anything. A static model is literally defined as any project I've started in the past 2, and in some cases, 4 years. And here I thought you guys were experts. Tighten up your game, will ya?
  3. Thanks gents. I think I'm good to go.
  4. Have any of you learned any hard lessons using the Testors lacquers and non-Testors primers? I bought a can and some of the clear as well. I intend to prime with DupliColor. It's so seldom I actually work on anything I've kind of fallen out of the loop on the use of some of this stuff.
  5. Gorgeous Malibu, Lyle! So you aren't sitting on pins and needles waiting for the inevitable questions to roll in...where'd the grill, photo-etch parts, the engine and the hood come from?
  6. I want to chime in and wish those who celebrate Christmas a very merry and safe holiday. I extend the same wish to those who celebrate other high holidays of their own during this season. And if you celebrate nothing during these coming weeks, at least celebrate your family and your friendships. I intend to have a great Christmas in spite of a very bad year so far. The good has managed to outweigh the bad, and get this straight...whether you showed a model that knocked my socks off, or made a brilliant point in an otherwise ridiculously annoying thread, or even sparked a meaningful dialog about some element of the hobby, everyone on this board has managed to contribute a little bit to the good. Thank you for that, and yes...Merry Christmas.
  7. Ahhh....Krylon purple. I always liked that truck. And the color. It even looks good on a kamero, er comarrow...uh...Chevy F-body.
  8. I might not get much time to build, but at least one of the clubs I hang with is 15 minutes from my new office and they meet at a time that lets me leave work at the normal time, grab dinner at the local diner, and then see what's happening at the meeting. Here are a couple of the photos, and a link to the rest. The UncertainT was easily the big favorite through the evening. I never got excited over the kit is a kid, but then I never saw it built either. It is simply too kool for words! There was one or two other models I kinda liked, too! These guys are amazing!
  9. Wow. No flash, seams or sink marks. What a great kit!
  10. Wow! What a piece of ######! But I mean that in the best possible way! It is really one nasty, dingy, crusty, need a tetanus shot after riding in it kind of hot rod. Bitchin'!! I love it!
  11. It was a great meeting, with 5 new members signing up. No leftover pizza or cake (not exacly the SlimFast plan, thank you very much) to worry about, and we managed to fill a table--and the surrounding floor--with our haul for the Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots program. Here are some pics, but you'll need to click HERE to see the rest. I don't know a darn thing about the Junior entry immediately below, so don't ask. BUT...if you can tell me what kit it might have been, that'd be appreciated.
  12. A friend asked me to print off a list of all the announced new releases from the various manufacturers for him, and I realized I don't have a complete list. Has anyone compiled one? Any help would be appreciated.
  13. Nick, this has been buggin' me for a while and I've been meaning to ask...is your avatar a photo taken during your drivers license test?
  14. As I mentioned in my message to you earlier, this is fantastic work. The kit itself is a bit of an oddball, but your attention to construction and some key details...like those insane wire wheels...really bring the kit to life. Take a bow!
  15. Great model, disturbing photography... ...Anybody else remember the movie The Amazing Colossal Man? (I must go on record stating Cruz has a much better temperment and more hair, plus I don't think Lt Col Manning was into the hobby...)
  16. Could it have been that "horribly proportioned" Polar Lights Coronet? I also went with poverty caps on the Lindberg 330...
  17. Cruz, my friend...your work never ceases to impress! You nailed this with all the right touches...dog dish hubcaps, the perfect color, and the prettiest model year of all the Chargers, at least in my book. Dang!
  18. I really don't know how you do it. You have such a great eye for what works, whether it's bikes, muscle cars or rods. This is amazing...at a glance it's simple and unassuming. Look at it again, and you start to see the depth of the build. Very, very well executed. No disrespect to Mr Lomardo or to you...but if all that is left to point out is a p-e snap, I think it speaks volumes about the quality of the build. You with your snaps, Bill with his wiper motors...sooner or later you'll both start to take the hobby seriously and tighten up your game a little.
  19. I KNEW somebody was goin to go there... Don't forget the Harley carbs, Hertz shifter and the Thrust mufflers.
  20. I also noticed (from the comments on the page you linked to) that spelling the name of Chevy's pony car correctly was beyond the grasp of the autophiles who posted their thoughts...
  21. I'm not "bike guy" as such, but I have to tell you your build-up is pretty much breathtaking. It's the picture of a solid concept expertly executed and oozes top notch craftsmanship. Hats off! You're not so bad with a camera either, from the looks of things.
  22. I think it looks a darn sight better than some of the concepts I saw months ago. It does, however, look like it has a distinct 65/66 roofline, and something trying to reflect the 69/70 years at the front end...you can see it if you dim the lights, squint and step back a little. Oh, and cock your head to the left. But I can't quite see from which years they might have derived the rear end. I actually like the car, as long as I don't sprain a brain cell trying to pin down all the design cues that may or not be there. In fact, if this had come out as the first retro design, most of us might be peeing ourselves over it being the most incredible retro-flavored new car out there. Problem is, they nailed the look so solidly the first time out, anything that follows (meaning this one) suffers from a distinct disadvantage. Next re-skin needs to be a stem to stern new design, and not play off of the strengths of its predecessor. Each time out, it gets diluted, me thinks. All that said, I would rather wait until I can actually ding one with a grocery cart to decide if it love the looks or not. Photos are only so good. You have to be standing next to it.
  23. That's what I use to comb my scalp.
  24. Super sweet Galaxie, Dub...but can you drive yours?! The hood on my '63 does make it a little scary to parallel park, but then I can just get out and pick it up! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! (Mike Cole photo...so blame him) Lite 'em up, baby!!!!
  25. This is not the first polished 'Cuda I've seen, but it is definitely the nicest! Great job! The color the plastic was molded in really pops when you slap a shine on it!
