  1. Adam - Modelhaus offers 4 different Metropolitans - they're not cheap, but well worth it IMO. Their website shows a 1954, 1955, 1959 and 1960. http://modelhaus.com/index.php?c=4171 I got a resin Met from an anonymous seller on Ebay a year or so ago for less than Modelhaus sells theirs, but a few bits were poorly cast and/or missing...and the body required more cleanup than Don's stuff too. I ordered the missing parts from Don, and wound up spending the same amount I would have on his Met offering If you do get one and can use any reference pics, I have full access to my friend's 1958 Met(until the snow flies, that is). Email me if I can help.
  2. Maybe if he sells one of his models he can buy a spellcheck. For 1100 beans, I'd expect much more(and clearer) pics too.
  3. My brush cleaner of choice for about 25 years now has been Ronsonol lighter fluid, and I use a 'pre-owned' jelly jar for the job. To keep my brushes in shape, I don't leave them standing in the solvent; I dip & swirl them then drag them out on a paper towel(repeating if necessary) until clean.
  4. Test it out on something other than the Vette body....like maybe white plastic spoons. Shoot it over silver, over gray primer, and also try it over gloss black. You might be amazed at the difference a base color makes. These three spoons have the same Tamiya top color(mica blue), but three different bases(L-R black, gunmetal and silver):
  5. I have to wait a while, as our little guy is almost 2, but I'm looking forward to a few father/son builds in the future.
  6. Just before Valentine's day I broke my jaw, and was out of work for 7 weeks.....it was one helluva diet plan, being wired shut the first 2 weeks, but I was able to get a lot of building done(once I weaned myself off the pain meds the first few days )
  7. The 11th of October marked seven years since my Jennifer and I said "I do," and we were together 3 years and change prior to that.
  8. You can't go wrong with the Revell snapper new Camaro kit IMO; I've given one as a gift to my nephew, with a body and interior prepainted by me, and he and my brother thoroughly enjoyed it as a father/son project.
  9. An apology wasn't really necessary IMO, but I do respect you stepping up and offering it. Your point was well-intended, but the delivery was where the flaw occurred.
  10. With those incorrect wheels and exhaust pipes peeking out under the body, I'd be concerned it wasn't one of the original 4.....the link doesn't mention or show any documentation from Barris, just an autograph from Adam West.
  11. About 15 years ago, I opened and hinged the glovebox door on a 1/25 Karmann Ghia I built for a friend.
  12. How about black with yellow or green piping? Either way you finish it, I'm enjoying the direction you're headed in.
  13. David - Based on your post about the '69 Nova you built, I'm assuming the decals aren't the problem: " I had one hell of a time getting the Decals to stick, that may have been due to the Car polish/wax, I don't know for sure, bt maybe someone does." If you are waxing your paint jobs before decal aplication, that is most likely the source of your adhesion issue.
  14. I might have a set of wheels that would work well on that Golf, and maybe I'd trade them for the kit-supplied ones....email me.
  15. Looking good so far, but I must admit I'm not a big fan of the wheels either - an offset that deep would make them stick out(I've owned five 1:1 Mk2 VWs). Like another poster said, however, it's your model...and have fun with it. The Fujimi kit is very simplified for sure, but the body proportions are way better than the Revellogram one.
  16. I normally avoid these threads, but I felt compelled to chime in. While I can, in some way, understand the OP's intent, it's simply not feasible for many of us to keep to a strict build schedule or timetable dictated by others. Skip - Not trying to blow my own horn too loudly here, but I've been accused of being a 'talented' builder from time to time. The fact that I'm a married homeowner with a toddler, a full-time job(10+ hour days) as well as other hobbies, keeps me from building with any regularity. My building as of late has slowed to what I call a 'glacial' pace, and the occasional show-and-tell session IMO can serve me well as a motivational tool.....I must say the above comment hit a nerve. Because I can't finish a model within the time frame laid out by somebody else as 'reasonable,' it appears that I am hereby stripped of talent? 'I don't owe an apology to people who can't read.' Now I'm also illiterate because I was offended by being called a hack? As another member posted above, I'd advise you to stop digging now, brother.
  17. I'm admittedly not the biggest fan of oversize wheels, but the whole model is gorgeous! I'm glad to see another builder who lurks in the non-model aisles of Michael's stores.
  18. I'm also looking forward to news/updates on those drag radials......up until now, I've been content using the rear tires from the Revell AlumaCoupe, but always hoped for better.
  19. I got my bottle at our local Wal-Mart.....swallow your pride and go there.
  20. Jay - I have only one word for you: MODELHAUS CLICK HERE
  21. Congrats to you and your family, Walt. He's not the wiring guy, Jim, but I know who is . RON FRANCIS WIRING
  22. About 2 years ago, I got a couple of friends to go in with me on an order from them; everything went smoothly, and the order arrived within a month....great stuff to boot! There was a question they had about an item on our order, and I got an email very quickly regarding it. We cleared up the confusion and the order wasn't delayed at all - there are resin casters stateside that can't(or won't)do what they do from 'down unda.' I will have no reservations about ordering from ThePartsBox in the future.
  23. Took the words right outta my mouse.
  24. Love the color and stance, looks like a clean build.....I'd definitely like to see better pictures of it, though.
  25. It does indeed; thanks for the tip. Another good source for tall brown grass is a paintbrush like this 4" wide one, available at stores like Harbor Freight for a mere 99 cents: The bristles on this brush are actually looped, and less than half their length is visible under normal circumstances. By prying off the metal band, you can free up the full-length bristles and cut them to whatever length you need.
