Very cool! The color definitely works on this.

My first attempt at True-Flames.

That looks pretty darn good from here! Someday I'll have the cajones to try a paint job like that. I'm not afraid to try necessarily, just don't really know where to start or how to make it happen at the moment. Maybe if I'd seen a first hand demo as you describe I would be more inclined to just do it. Anyway, you got a good start on that one and I'm sure there will be even better ones on the way. Can't wait to see the finished product here. -
Definitely some fine looking builds! You are a master!

I likey! Those are some fantastic builds. Pretty wild stuff you build. Nice!

Looks good! I take it your GF's name is Mary. Any other pics of it?

I'm gonna say real.

Absolutely amazing! I just saw these Trumpeter kits at the LHS and was wondering about them. I was told they were made in exquisite detail in regards to the interior and trunk and such. What was your thoughts on this kit, CF? How did things fit together? The kit was kinda pricey here (about 45 dollars). Was it very expensive where you are? Thanks!
-
Thanks I will keep you in mind if I should go that route. It may be a while though, I'm still putting together my Hobby room. In fact, I just bought a small desk today for my workbench. So I'm off to go build my new desk and start getting things ready to start building again.
-
Oh! So they're already made to be adjustable for different wheelbases. Nice! I just might look into an RC conversion sometime. Thanks!
-
OH, right! I have seen those. I guess I was thinking of the much larger scale RC kits that you have to to assemble. How much work does it look like to modify the chassis for different wheel base models?
-
Oh, ok. It's still nice, either way. I can't say Ive ever seen an RC in that scale before. Was a prefab type RC car that you converted with this body?
-
RC car? What scale? I think it looks good. Only critique to offer is maybe get the hood to fit better, if possible. That to me would be the finishing touch. Otherwise, very nice!

WHOA! Total flashback! No, not because I had a conversion van back in the 70's but because I had this exact kit as a kid. I think it was called "California Cruisin" or " .......... Cruiser". with the big wave and surfer decals for the sides. I remember the bubble side windows. LOL It was molded in yellow. Well, I can say it looks so much better then my glue bomb back in the day. Great job with the build! And thanks for the memory. I think I want one again.

Thanks for the link, Simon. I'll see if I can find out more about that brand. I have searched a little and found that Testors make a decal kit for just this. It seems to be for inkjet type printers which is what I would be using since I don't have access to a laser type. Here's the link...... http://www.testors.com/product/0/9198/_/Custom_Decal_System I don't know if anyone here has used it or not, so I'm curious as to how good it is or how easy it may be to find. I'd buy it online if necessary but I usually like to support my LHS as much as possible even in times like this to help ensure that he'll be there when this economy springs back, hopefully sooner than later. Edit: also found this.... http://www.bare-metal.com/Experts-Choice-Decal-Film.html -
Nice and clean! I like a build that goes quick. Let's you move on to another build. LOL

I've often wondered about making my own decals. Other than online, is there someplace that sells the decal sheets, Hobby store, perhaps? What brand are they? 3M or somebody like that? -
Hat's off to ya Cranky! Those are some fine Rat Rod builds. Love those rusty lookin finishes, seems you got the knack for that type of build. keep 'em coming.

Sweet flame job! Thanks for sharing.

My thoughts, exactly! I was also thinking, if you weren't opposed to the idea, you could also add some very small silver spots in the front of the cab paint to simulate small rock chips in the paint in addition to the aged appearance of the paint. Maybe even some "worn" areas in the floor mat and steps. Just a thought. Looks great! -
From the pictures, I think it looks pretty good. If you're dissatisfied with the finish for any reason you can easily just build another one to make up for it. Just remember to have fun with it no matter the outcome.

Somehow I've missed this build. Well, I'm glad I found it.....this GTO is definitely one of my faves. Very nicely done! I hadn't realized there was a spray on vinyl top system available now. How cool is that?! It seems to work pretty good from the turn out of this one. I was noticing that it's texture could probably be used for a 'spray-in bedliner' in a pick-up or even a rubber or vinyl floor mat in a copcar or truck. Just a thought. Is this vinyl top system in all the hobby stores? or was this something available online only? Thanks. Anyway, just wanted to say, what a beautiful model you've got there!
-
Nice Charger, gotta give it to ya on the paint. I especially like the flames, they look great! The flames appear to be airbrushed, correct? Wish I could do that. Show us what else you got. Keep up the good work.

Love the detail on this one! Well done!

Thanks, I've seen those tires on their website before. I was just wondering if there was any other suppliers for those.

Sweet combo set! Looking good.
