  1. For a springer use the forks from the AMT Shaker Trike, reissued earlier this year. I've seen a couple guys do this conversion already and it looks great!
  2. Very nice, as always, Lyle
  3. Man, I wish we could get a reissue of any of them, or even better, a new tool (like the '64 and '65 Chevies done by revell and AMt a few years ago) I finally scored a 62 longbed unibody a couple weeks ago. The wheels are turning in my head.
  4. AMT '41 Ford Woody AMt '64 Mercury Marauder Revell '31 Ford sedan "rat rod" Johan '59 Rambler wagon These have been available within the last 5 years in one form or another, so tracking them down shouldn't be too hard. I know more kits have them, but they don't come to mind. Here's one more. Johan '66 Caddy "heavenly Hearse"
  5. When I originally started the project I figured I was just gonna use a bunch of the Johan shortboards(available in many of their kits, most recently the rambler wagon) but I knew there were more out there, so I decided to dig deeper. These are the kits I sourced my boards from, but I know there are more out there AMT '41 Woody AMT '64 Marauder Revell '31 Model A sedan "rat rod" The 2 tri fin boards were handmade by Steve Hensen
  6. Thought I'd share my latest completion with you guys. Feels good to get it off the bench so I can start something else(funny thing is, since I've finished it all I've been doing is re-arranging my hobby room, lol) It is Revell's '37 Ford Delivery kit. If you guys want details let me know. It's got a wedge cut section out of the bottom of the body to make the attitude more aggressive. Opened up the side windows to show off the wares of the "Longview Custom Boards and Repairs" Co. Engine is kit block with heads from the AMT '34 Ford coupe 2n1. Intake is parts box scoop atop "S.C.O.T " looking blower from AMT old tool '57 Chevy Interior rack is scratchbuilt from evergreen styrene. Boards are sourced from various kits except tri-fins made by Brian Hensen. And here are the boards. Follow the link to more pics http://public.fotki.com/crstan/finished_mo...ngview_37_ford/
  7. I saw on ebay last night that someone is making a modified chassis that has bigger wheelwells and such to help lower the car. It looks pretty good.
  8. This is the third year for this show. It's a lot of fun, but it doesn't really seem to be growing, which is a shame. There were probably fewer than 200 cars registered, but still very cool stuff. Follow the link to more pics, and also albums of past shows. Here is just a taste... and here's the link http://public.fotki.com/crstan/real_car_sh...eyeball_reun-1/
  9. I'll take a look. Remind me in a week if I haven't gotten back to you
  10. Billy, I think Vince had a Plastic Fanatic cover, before the name change. But, I could be wrong. I can try looking if you like.
  11. I've been fortunate enough to meet many of the greats of the hobby, especially when I lived in NY. But here are a few people I'd love to meet, just for the wealth of knowledge they seem to posess about the hobby. Also, this post is not to impune anyone else not mentioned. I'm glad to MEET anyone from this hobby. Whether I want to talk to some of them again, that may be another story. :? Mark Budnewski John Mueller Art Anderson Jairus Watson
  12. Good advice. A variation on this premise is C.I.R.D (Craigs Instatanious Reissue Disease). Symptoms are paying too much for an old kit and/or having buyers remorse. Full fledge outbreak is when the kit is reissued a few months later.
  13. Those wires look pretty nice. I am assuming they are from the kit? 2 halves? Or can I hope for 2 halves of spokes and 2 outer rims?
  14. Thanks for the tutorial. I may work up the nerv to try it. Looks great!
  15. Hey Dave, if you make a Billy Lane tank make sure it doesn't leak gasoline. Wouldn't want yours to wind up like his last hubless  :!:
  16. Hey Rand man. Cool place huh? Told ya so!
  17. That masking job looks tedious, so if you've found an easy way please do a tutorial!
  18. I'll do a gasser Beatnick Bandit. How about it?
  19. Looking great lyle. A fine tip sharpie will fit right into those tight spots if you want to quickly detail the buttons.
  20. How accurate is this engine? I'm thinking of transporting it into my '65 Chevelle custom(posted in the OTB area). Just wanted to know if there were any obvious ommisions or build issues. I know a few of you have built this kit.
  21. Beautiful. Love the colors and the subtle mods you've made. Very nice.
  22. Here's an update on my '37 Ford "ute". Got the paint squared away on the body finally. I think everything is painted, just waiting on assembly, mostly. The '65 Bonne just need painting to take place. it's going to be duplicolor "metalflakes" red with a white interior (I know, red with white interior, real original, lol) Here's a Flintstone resin body with fully scratchbuilt frame. It's got a '28 Lincoln engine. It will receive some minor weathering. Waiting on painting of everything except the body. Color is Krylon Celery. Will get flat clearcoat with vintage speed shop decals. This 32 will receive the late 50's show rod treatment. Full dress flatty. Suspension from the newer AMT ala Kart. Probably metallic wine color. The body is an revell roadster body with AMT 5 window roof grafted on. This one is brand new. It is inspired by the Matador, and that 40 Ford currently in CK Deluxe with the raised fenders. Top will stay unchopped. Will get 58 vette taillights. Not sure on color yet(surely something metallic) Here's another brand new one. I whacked the top about 18 months ago and then threw it in a box. Ran across it recently while looking for parts and decided to start messing with it again. Will get a stretched new ala kart frame and running gear. Should sit about that height. Lincoln motor from the '25 T. Testors Lime Gold paint. This is another new one. It's a flintstone body that I just couldn't figure out what to do with. I've seen a few done up vintage style with big wire wheels and vintage style scallops that look really cool, but I want something different. It's will be styled and painted after the Barris Doby Gilles LSR car. Pearl white with metallic orange details. Here's the ongoing 67 chevelle protouring I started about 2 years ago. Color is Tamiya Gunmetal stripes over black. Jimmy flintstone flame templates are a snap to use. Rear wheels are courtesy of Marc Nellis or MPC motorsports. This I was trying to finish for the Dream Cruise, but knew I wouldn't be able to do 2, so I chose to finish the other one. I've really developed an appreciation for the clean lines of the mid 60's GM cars lately, and I find myslef thinking up a lot of projects based on them. This is the revell '65 Chevell Z-16 kit. Open grille is Rep+Min of Md (mastered by Lyle Willits). I'm leaning towards the straight 6 from the Trumpeter Nova for motorvation. Wheels and tires are from the revell 59 Chevy custom 2n1. Needless to say, I've got LOTS of started projects stored away. These are the ones that are currently seeing daylight, er...flourescent light anyway. Thanks for looking, and follow the link to more pics. http://public.fotki.com/crstan/noslow-moti...ects/page4.html
  23. Now I've got a urge to build mine. I have always wanted to, just haven't done it yet. I'm selling some of my ferarri kits on ebay, but am hanging on to a few, and the Tamiya 360 is one fo them. Just too many stalled projects on my bench. Bob, at least I had the forthought to save your original critique and window fixes when you posted them to H/H. Thank goodness for that.
