  1. It's a resin reproduction of the go kart originally included as parts in variuous early 60's AMT kits, and then as a complete kit with (I beleive) the '63 Ford F-100. Originally, each kit in the product line included a couple parts, making you buy all of them to complete the go kart. Pretty ingenius marketing ploy, huh? My exact info is a little fuzzy, if I'm off I'm sure someone can give more accurate info. The resin repop is by Rep+Min of Md.
  2. Here is what I've got on the bench. First up is a Jimmy Flintstone '34 Ford. It'll be painted up like the Dobbie Gilles Barris LSR car And here's a couple custom pickups I've started. Thanks for looking, lots of more projects and more pics at the link... http://public.fotki.com/crstan/noslow-moti...ects/page3.html
  3. Re: I love the terror laquer paints Wow, that's one crazy typo
  4. I haven't had any problems with them. When painting bodies I mist on one or two light coats, and then lay on the color, followed about 10-15 minutes later with testors or Tamiya clear. When painting parts I just lay on the color, no problems.
  5. Very nice. You never disappoint Lyle. I can't wait fot the next two kits either!
  6. I've seen a few built up at shows, but I can't comment on the difficulty of the buildup. I've got it in my head to build up that one box stock someday, trying to challenge myself with some of those fiddlet, high parts count, old Revell kits. I've got a Ivo 4 engine dragster started, and I want to do the Orange Crate and the Roth kits. Someday :?
  7. Looks great Randy! It's really coming along. Now, if you could just get that frame finished... (snicker, snicker) Seriously, killer project BTW, if the market across the street has Rod and Kulture mag do you want a copy?
  8. For a springer use the forks from the AMT Shaker Trike, reissued earlier this year. I've seen a couple guys do this conversion already and it looks great!
  9. Very nice, as always, Lyle
  10. Man, I wish we could get a reissue of any of them, or even better, a new tool (like the '64 and '65 Chevies done by revell and AMt a few years ago) I finally scored a 62 longbed unibody a couple weeks ago. The wheels are turning in my head.
  11. AMT '41 Ford Woody AMt '64 Mercury Marauder Revell '31 Ford sedan "rat rod" Johan '59 Rambler wagon These have been available within the last 5 years in one form or another, so tracking them down shouldn't be too hard. I know more kits have them, but they don't come to mind. Here's one more. Johan '66 Caddy "heavenly Hearse"
  12. When I originally started the project I figured I was just gonna use a bunch of the Johan shortboards(available in many of their kits, most recently the rambler wagon) but I knew there were more out there, so I decided to dig deeper. These are the kits I sourced my boards from, but I know there are more out there AMT '41 Woody AMT '64 Marauder Revell '31 Model A sedan "rat rod" The 2 tri fin boards were handmade by Steve Hensen
  13. Thought I'd share my latest completion with you guys. Feels good to get it off the bench so I can start something else(funny thing is, since I've finished it all I've been doing is re-arranging my hobby room, lol) It is Revell's '37 Ford Delivery kit. If you guys want details let me know. It's got a wedge cut section out of the bottom of the body to make the attitude more aggressive. Opened up the side windows to show off the wares of the "Longview Custom Boards and Repairs" Co. Engine is kit block with heads from the AMT '34 Ford coupe 2n1. Intake is parts box scoop atop "S.C.O.T " looking blower from AMT old tool '57 Chevy Interior rack is scratchbuilt from evergreen styrene. Boards are sourced from various kits except tri-fins made by Brian Hensen. And here are the boards. Follow the link to more pics http://public.fotki.com/crstan/finished_mo...ngview_37_ford/
  14. I saw on ebay last night that someone is making a modified chassis that has bigger wheelwells and such to help lower the car. It looks pretty good.
  15. This is the third year for this show. It's a lot of fun, but it doesn't really seem to be growing, which is a shame. There were probably fewer than 200 cars registered, but still very cool stuff. Follow the link to more pics, and also albums of past shows. Here is just a taste... and here's the link http://public.fotki.com/crstan/real_car_sh...eyeball_reun-1/
  16. I'll take a look. Remind me in a week if I haven't gotten back to you
  17. Billy, I think Vince had a Plastic Fanatic cover, before the name change. But, I could be wrong. I can try looking if you like.
  18. I've been fortunate enough to meet many of the greats of the hobby, especially when I lived in NY. But here are a few people I'd love to meet, just for the wealth of knowledge they seem to posess about the hobby. Also, this post is not to impune anyone else not mentioned. I'm glad to MEET anyone from this hobby. Whether I want to talk to some of them again, that may be another story. :? Mark Budnewski John Mueller Art Anderson Jairus Watson
  19. Good advice. A variation on this premise is C.I.R.D (Craigs Instatanious Reissue Disease). Symptoms are paying too much for an old kit and/or having buyers remorse. Full fledge outbreak is when the kit is reissued a few months later.
  20. Those wires look pretty nice. I am assuming they are from the kit? 2 halves? Or can I hope for 2 halves of spokes and 2 outer rims?
  21. Thanks for the tutorial. I may work up the nerv to try it. Looks great!
  22. Hey Dave, if you make a Billy Lane tank make sure it doesn't leak gasoline. Wouldn't want yours to wind up like his last hubless  :!:
  23. Hey Rand man. Cool place huh? Told ya so!
