  1. Wow, what a difference. Now if I could only get the LHS to carry the Alclad spray cnas. Nice work Steve
  2. Looking good man. Keep those updates coming!
  3. Are you the same monkeyclaw with the 1/8 ardun conversion in the latest MC mag? Very nice stuff. Gotta start saving my pennies for some of your stuff!
  4. Haven't seen a lot of "high tech" choppers built from these kits yet, but with a build like that you may set a trend. Not nit picking, but can carbon fiber really be used to make a gas tank? I'm not really familiar with the limitations of this material, so I'm trying to learn here. Nice bike!
  5. Did any 1/20th models have minilites in them? That would be about the right size in 1/24/25 wouldn't it? I know MPC and AMT went through a faze back in the 70's where they were doing 1/20 stuff, so maybe there's a chance?
  6. Would anyone be able to scan and send me a copy of Rep and Min's latest catalog. I beleive they had an updated one at the Toledo NNL with all the chopper parts in it? It's been a long time since I've ordered from Norm, I have a lot of great parts to catch up on.
  7. I'm pretty sure the 63 is based on their excellent '64 impala tooling. If it is do yourself a favor and get it and do the kitbash because the '64 is a great kit.
  8. This thing is freaking awesome in person. Chuck had to put a trap over it after awhile to keep everyone from drooling on it. http://public.fotki.com/crstan/kustom_kemp...ustom_kemps_in/
  9. Beautiful work. Lots of mods. Nice details. Stunning!
  10. Wow, i forgot those pics were in there. From the look of it they are actually Dave Lindseys pics. I copied them for personal reference, not sure how they got onto my public fotki site. Dave, if they are your pics let me know and I'll credit you and/or remove them
  11. This is a cool place to be. Welcome aboard! I still enjoy H/H and go there every day, but it gets kinda uptight over there sometimes.
  12. I've looked at this build before Jayvee, but i only just realized that it's based on the new tool '57. I saw the old tool blower setup and just assumed the whole thing was the old tool. I only realized it when you said it was a well engineered kit. Upon closer inspection I found the truth. Shame on me. Very nice build, as always!
  13. Nope, it's all from my head. Can anyone figure out what's going on between the front downtubes?
  14. Looks great. I love the engine, Rep and Min of Md parts? I've been meaning to build one of the Phantom Vickies with fenders since the kit came out. It's been awhile, maybe this year I'll actually do it.
  15. Well, Ive been off work since last saturday, but with family in town build time has been at 0. Now that they have returned home I can get some bench time. Here's the results Based on the Revell "Torch" hardtail frame. I've done quite a bit to the frame itself. See if you can figure the direction I'm going by the mods I've made. http://public.fotki.com/crstan/noslow-moti...ects/page3.html
  16. That's a FAT tank, pun intended.
  17. Love the grille treatment. Very nice color selection too.
  18. Did the Gambler get new wheels? I only picked up the Fireball. Decals are the other new item in that kit besides wheels. the real-fire decals LOOK great, hope they apply well.
  19. Thanks Steve. Now I can't wait to give it a try
  20. Just a quick rifling thru the box produced these impressions. 1) Most of the parts are a mix and match of other parts offered in the previous 4 kits 2) Unique parts include sweet wheels, seat, flame motif primary cover and air cleaner. 3) Real Fire decals look great, hope they apply just as good as they look. That's all for now. I love these kits. I also saw the Gambler, #6 of 6 of the Revell Choppers, but didn't have enough cash to pick it up. Great kits, if you haven't gotten yourself one yet... WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?!?!

  22. Well, after 16 days this bad boy is finished. In case you don't remember I posted a full review of this kit back on 11/24(in case you missed it or want to refresh your memory) The review overall was pretty good, with some caveats about buildability. How did it hold up upon completion? Let's find out. The engine has a very modern and clean look, just like the prototype. Somewhat simplified, it goes together easily and looks pretty darn good. High points are the intake plenum and exhaust headers. However, there are a couple things that need to be addressed as you build. First of all, the headers don't seem big enough. They attach to the front 3/4 of the engine leaving the rear end of the cylinder heads empty. This is pretty well hidden by the inner fender areas. Do not glue the headers until just before you are ready to install the engine into the chassis. Dab a little slow setting glue into the holes, attatch the headers and then install the engine. This allows you to position the headers into their locating holes on the chassis. It's an unorthodox setup, but once installed is very strong, and this way you don't have to worry if the exhaust setup will meet up with the headers. It's all positivly located. Chassis- This assembly looked good right out of the box, and it didn't disappoint. Very nice engraving on just about all of the parts. Not overly simplified, and everything looks good when painted and assembled. There are only two thing s to worry about here. First, AMT set up the front end so it could have poseable steering, which is a nice touch. However, there is a bit of play in the entire assembly. I would tighten up the assembly, and then you will have very nice poseable steering. The other item is a major one, but very fixable... Out of the box the chassis sits too far forward in the body. Trim some material off the front pan, move the radiator back a little and remove the locating pins for the interior. I didn't do these things as I was trying to build box stock, but next time I will. Interior- Well done AMT. Everything locates positivly and fits well. The only item that darkens this assembly is the decals provided for the gauges. Poorly registered and colored, I decided to skip them. Two small items with quick fixes during assembly here will smooth things during final assembly. Remove about 1/8 inch from the tab that hangs off the bottom of the dash. It hits the front wall and keeps the dash from sitting properly. This in turn keep the interior from fitting in the body properly. Also, since we removed the locating pins on the chassis for the interior, do the same on the bottom of the interior to help clearence. Body. Very well done, it perfectly captures the look of the real car. Quite a few seperate parts Make this assembly come out as the best part of the kit. Seperate bulbs for the headlights and foglights are a nice touch. Do youself a favor and trim down the size of the fog lamp lenses so the assembly recesses into the body better. Also, the rear valance on mine had a slight twist to it, so some bending was required. Overall I really enjoyed this kit. It went together well, and quickly. Mind the few points I discussed while you build and this model will come out stunning. I can't wait to see what you guys and gals do to this one. This is a solid offering from AMT/Ertl/RC2, and I commend them for their strong effort. I give it a 8 out of 10. BTW. the beautiful, big diameter rally wheels are by Marc Nellis http://public.fotki.com/crstan/finished_mo...ro-concept-car/
  23. Love it, love it! Did I mention, I love it?
  24. The dash was next on the agenda. Revell's instructions tell you to put the clear lens in place and then put the decal on the clear lens. This doesn't make sense because the adhesive is on the wrong side............ Bill, I simply skipped the water step with the gauges. I cut them out and glued them to the backside of the lenses. Two routes to the same result.
