  1. Nice start. the big wheels look good on such a big car.
  2. So, are these "custom" parts newly tooled? Are they possibly borrowed from the "penske" vette from last year(I haven't bought that one yet so I'm not sure what parts are in it.) It looks like a great, true 2n1. I will be buying this one! thanks Revell!
  3. Well, after 3 months of work I was finally able to move into my new building room. The room started as a bare cinderblock storage room about 11x8. I put up stud walls, ran electric, did the sheetrock and spackle, applied a decorative and functional epoxy floor paint, paint the walls with the addition of custom racing stripes, and applied trim. Then came the task of stuffing the proverbial "10 pounds of stuff into a 8 pound bag". I used furniture I had previously utilized, plus I got an auxilary desk that the previous homeowner left(grafitti and racial slurs cleverly concealed by the PIF shelf paper sent to my by JK dezan). Plus I also scored a old kithen cabinet that I refurbished for additional storage. Now, after 5 looooong months with no scale modeling I am finally able to start building again. I'm raring to go, i can't wait! So CRS Custom,Rod and Speed shop is now open. Stay tuned, because I'm going to poll you guys as to which old abandoned project is the first to hit the bench again. Thanks for looking!
  4. Looking good. How do you plan to replicate the engine turned dash? Inquiring minds want to know!
  5. There are two pre-50 chevy kits available right now. If your LHS doesn't have them they should be able to track them down pretty easy. Galaxie Ltd 46-48 Chevy Aerosedan and Sedan delivery. Excellents kits, very detailed, with hop up parts for the straight 6 AMT '37 Chevy coupe- I beleive this may be a limited release put out by Steven International. Nice, older tooling kit. I agree there should be more, but the only on I can think of is the '32 Chevy roadster(but I am no kit guru) whcih hasn't been available for a looong time.
  6. Nice tip, thanks for sharing!
  7. While these bits are nice, buyer beware while shopping, especialkly the grab bag. It is exactly what it says it is. Look inside the package to make sure you don't get an overabundance of repeats. i got 7 of the same size. It makes it hard to build a complete set, but the price is good. Just make sure to check the contents before you buy
  8. Very nice build. i gotta get me one of those kits. One of the most beautiful chops ever!
  9. They added basic interior and chassis detail, plus an engine. the parts look good from a distance, but lack fine detailing and texture. It's a good starting point for a full detailed showstopper, or a good parts kit.
  10. Beautiful job. I don't think I've seen someone take the retro route with one of these, but you sure pulled it off. Kudos!!!
  11. I'm looking forward to hearing the answer on this too. I seem to remember someone saying to roll it between to peices of glass, but I could be wrong.
  12. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Rep and Min does not have a website. I can direct you to fotki album where Dave Toups has posted pics of the catalog. On there you can find contact info. Hope this helps http://public.fotki.com/davetoups/aftermar...cas_and_miniat/
  13. It's been at least 10 years, probably longer. I'm just glad we are finally getting it. I just read an article by Laryy Greenberg in the March '99 issue of SAE where he talked about modified tool the manufacturers should do, and this one was one of his top picks. 8 years later...
  14. No prob. A lot of people get bent out of shape when people mix them up, so I just wanted to get to it before "they" did.
  15. That picture right there made me decide that I need to go buy that kit. Clean build, beautiful color.! I had a Ferrari fettish back in the early 90's and bought all kinds of kits, but sold off most of them when I realized I'd probably never build. I did keep a fujimi Daytona Spyder, Tamiya Enzo, both revell and Tamiyas F50's, Fujimis F355, and a couple of Testarossas. Now I'll add the 612, and hopefully I'll actually build one or two soon! Thanks for the inspiration Izzy!
  16. TREK or WARS? "It made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs, it's fast enough for you, old man"- Han Solo
  17. I partially agree wth this statement. I agree that it will sell like hotakes initially, to the enthusiasts and lunatic fringers. But, I think as long as it stays on Chain Mart shelves it will sell for a many years to come to "joe public". The casual builders and nostalgia seekers will hopefully keep this one around for a long time, and maybe even draw some new blood into our hobby. I'm having one of my optimistic days today, lol.
  18. Nice build. I am ordering the retro transkit from rep and Min of Md for the TP2 kit. Wasn't the original version flathead powered? That would be another neat build idea, wouldn't it?
  19. Is all the chrome side trim going to be seperate? While the kustom guy in me likes that feature because it makes it easy to remove, the rep stock part of me looks at that upper rear fender trim and wonders if it will break as easily as the Trumpeter Bonneville chrome. The tool looks great
  20. Rep and Min of Md makes them too, but with seperate bezels and backup light lens too. They are beautiful, and I beleive they are mastered by Rik Hoving. Far superior to the all in one peices by Modelhaus and R+R Vacuum Craft
  21. I built this when the Revell kit came out using Rep and Mins '36-40 Ford Duvall windsheild. It's designed to fit the AMT kits, but it dropped right on. Now the conversion will be even easier. Kudos to Norm and Rik!
  22. Well, you can't get much further east than the quad cities(davenport, moline etc) If you are interested PM me and I'll give ya some info
  23. I love them both. The only preference I have towards the Tamiya is the spray nozzle. Much better, even coverage. i use them interchangeably and treat them as the same paint. What I have started doing is using Duplicolor sandable primer for all my bodywork, and then when it's all done I sand the primer with 600 grit paper and then use the Tamiya white primer as a base for the color coats. the Tamiya white primer is very smooth, and lacks the grainyness of the 1:1 automotive primers. However, i only use it as a base coat because it shows ALL imperfections, so bodywork must be complete.
  24. Looking good! I really like the wheels. Any ideas on color or powerplant yet?
  25. This is strictly my opinion. Basically, if Wal Mart isn't interested, they aren't either. After the lackluster sales of the Pro-Modeller and Pro-Shop series of kits in the late 90's they have kind of pulled away from the "enthusiast" market. For now they are content to let the Model Kings and Stevens Internationals of the world do their limited runs. A couple of those limited runs have even prompted R/M and AMT to do their own runs of the kits, so there is a faint glimmer of hope. Hopefully one day they will realize the enthusiast market is still viable and will tap into it
