  1. Looks good.. Rootbeer - I like that color. Tim
  2. Sergey, Very nice! I like them all. Tim
  3. Looker, VERY nice!! Tim
  4. I looked at one of these a handful of years ago, but the size to photo a truck model wasn't available then. Tim
  5. I started this in early February - 2 months - an eternity for me to finish a Peterbilt! Here's my rendition of a 2010 Peterbilt 386 in full aero dress. This sea of 386 based models looks like large Skittles! Almost finished is my Peterbilt 330 Hybrid straight truck. I still need to build a body for it. More pics are on my site HERE. Thanks for looking! Tim
  6. If I remember, the Stepp's 379 on the kit box is a 379-119 (119" BBC) short hood. I might be wrong here. If it is the 379-119, then the Italeri 378 would work, but the hood would have to be modified for a bit less slope and have a visible panel seam and rivet detail. I've posted how I've done this both on my website and on previous posts here. I used the wrecker body with a 1/24th scale kit and it did need to be widened to fit the 1/24th scale chassis and cab. Tim
  7. Neat. The C600 Mack's look cool in any configuration. Tim
  8. The steps are slightly off in shape and were available for a while in the early 80s. I think they look best removed. Tim
  9. Looks like an interesting project ! Tim
  10. Cat had a disastrous PR problem when their 2007 on-highway engines had multiple failures. Even with plenty of real-world testing before the release of the engines, they had plenty of problems. A Cat equipped 2007-2010 truck has less of a resale value than one with a Cummins or Detroit. After spending large sums of money repairing/replacing the early '07 emission engines, Cat felt it was less costly and in their best interest to the company in the long term to exit the on-highway engine market than to engineer the needed changes for the 2010 emissions. The '07 engine problems effectively squashed their reputation. Cat and Navistar have an agreement for Cat branded equipment in the future, supposedly vocation trucks. Time will tell. Tim
  11. The color is a bright red, but yes, it was a glider. The bumper was added after the photo was taken. Tim
  12. I haven't heard of any. I made mine using the forward section of the 63" sleeper roof and front wall, then scratchbuilt the rest. Tim
  13. 388 and 389 would use the same cab (as cast). 367 would too (if spec'd with dual external air cleaners). 386, 382, 330, 348 and 384 would need to have the air cleaner mounts removed and the holes in the cab side panel filled in as these models use under-hood air cleaners. Except 365 which uses a through-the-side-of-the-cab scoop. 388 (air cleaners are covered by protectors to keep from getting scratched) 389 (no visor installed) 367 367 SBFA Heavy Haul 367 SBFA And the same cab can be used on 378, 357 and 379 2005-2007. Tim
  14. I just added a 2nd page to the photos. MATS 2010 page 2 Tim
  15. Scott I was there Wednesday for the press conferences, all day Thursday (including the morning VIP hours) and the morning of Friday. We probably walked right by each other... I was indoors during the downpour - I didn't even know it rained until I went outside "hey, it rained!." Then froze Friday morning. Tim
  16. Here comes a handful of photos from the recent Mid-America Truck Show in Louisville, Kentucky. The new Kenworth T700, the Peterbilt 587 and 382, big Western Star quarry truck, custom trucks.. something for everyone! MATS Photos Tim
  17. Nice build, great scratchbuilding of the trailer. Tim
  18. A/E = Aerodynamic Enhanced. What part for 352 are you missing? Tim
  19. Cool project! The chassis.. you might be better off scratchbuilding a frame similar to the Ford Short Hauler (or using it, but lowering it a bit). The front wheels look like Alcoa FrontRunners from the Ertl Transtar 4300 and CO4070B kit. Air conditioner from an AMT Peterbilt 359 (sort of) Tim
  20. Some updates on two projects - My Peterbilt 330 Hybrid The paint has been polished, Bare-Metal Foil applied to the grille, door jambs, etc. I added a white stripe to the body to break up the Viper Green. My mind-of-its-own green 386 is coming along nicely. I waited until I could mock-up the body on the frame before installing the front axle, this was the axle would be centered in the wheel opening and I wouldn't have to adjust the cab/hood/sleeper mounting locations. Plenty of work to go. Back to the bench. Tim
  21. I see you went for the retro-modern look. Cool. Tim
