Whatever Happened to......
cargostar replied to 7000in5th's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Glad to see you back David! I had subscribe to NMN when it was going and sent many a M.O. to the NAA for items from the toy store. Moebius is the company that is doing the Lonestar. It was announced at the Ihobby show in Chicago. They won't give out very many details yet. I have several IH's in the works at the moment, from a Cargostar, to a Loadstar, and several others. -
'78 Scout II
cargostar replied to Chuck Most's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Nice work! I see you added the panel line between the quarter and end cap too! But, why not red on the engine??? The washer bottle that is in the Paystar kits is correct to fit in the Scout also... -
International S-Series

Anything with straight frame rails will work. The Ford snowplow would be the best choice from the current kits. -
International S-Series Cab
cargostar replied to cargostar's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
No, It does not come with steering coloum, or seats. I didn't do any seats, because there would be so many variations, from one seat, to a full bench, a 2/3rds bench, etc. Besides, most of us have seats in our spare parts! -
1949-1950 International P/U?
cargostar replied to raymanz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
A '49 is a KB, and Liberty classics has a die cast. A '50 is an L, and the closest would be either the First Gear '54 or the Liberty Classics '54. The only difference between a "50, and a '54 is the grill. -

International LoneStar kit???

I won't complain, but, It would be a little out of the norm for them to do a truck. I guess we'll wait and see!!! -

1949-1950 International P/U?
cargostar replied to raymanz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
First Gear and Liberty Classics have diecast '54/5 pickups. A '49 would be a KB series (same basic body from'41). Liberty classics has a diecast KB pickup. Illini replicas offered a lerger KB in resin many years ago. I think hes up and operating again, so it may be rereleased. A '50 would be an L series, which was the same basic body up thru mid '57, with different grills. -
They were never reissued in the 80's or 90's. I believe 2005 was the first reissue.

International 4300
cargostar replied to Rick Schmidt's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I'd leave the Cat yellow. IH painted EVERYTHING red in the '70s.... Cat, D.Diesel, Cummins, IH, all red. The yellow will stand out under the hood and contrast against whatever color you paint the cab. I wouldn't worry about changing it, its yours, and you can build how you like. It did look like a decent build, but, if you want to change it, change it. Remember the main thing is to have fun and enjoy what you are doing. It is to be re-released in the near future, so, everyone else can build their own versions. -
Oh yeah, IH would put anything on/in their trucks. I can't speak for other brands, but IH prided itself on cusom builds to suit the customer. Each assembly plant has a space in the plant, for "stall builds". These would be trucks special ordered, that they were not set up on the assembly line to build. So the truck was assembled in its own stall and the required parts were brought to the truck amd then engineered to fit. They also had an off site facility, that would take an already built "stock" truck and modify it to the customers specs. So as far as IH is concerned, never say they never did it!

I hear that alot!!!! I think at last count there were 264 out there....

Supply and demand... How many places carry replacement parts for '57 Chevys??? How many for IH's???? Just like model building, the aftermarket/suppliers know what parts (or kits) are fast moving, and what isn't. For every part that is sold for an IH, 20 to 30 times more are sold for a Big 3 vehicle, so the same amount of profit for the manufactuer has to be made on fewer parts sold. It's slowly turning around, and that is being addressed, but, its a long road.

Various builds
cargostar replied to Repstock's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Great work on the Loadstar!!! I saw it on another board and was blown away then, as I am now! -
Rust free tubs are out there still. Although is usually easier to find a complete vehicle with a good body. A complete is also a heck of a lot easier to haul/ship. Conversion to a 4 speed is a fairly easy, bolt in swap. We have about tripled the number of salvage vehicles since this was taken. All IH light line.

Big Hook
cargostar replied to mackinac359's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Nice!!!! The second axle would steer at a different angle (usually sharper) than the front axle, because the rear is closer to the center of the of the turn than the front. If that makes any sense at all....
