Its an American LaFrance Eagle cab. The kit is a flat roof, and I have done the raised roof, and interior panels to fit either cab. Here are the fist ones that came up on an image search... cargostar replied to cargostar's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks everyone! I got the jumpseat area into paint last night/this morning. I finished it at 3 am, so if it still looks good I'll have some more pics tomorrow. -

Got some more done. I have most of the 4" water line run on the lower section, and got one of the articulating joints built. -
The 903 in the 4200 kit should be red. IH red. It was originaly #50 red, back in the 40's, and its number was changed to 2150 red in the late 50's. It has been know as IH red, IHC red, CaseIH red. All are available in touch up aresols, or Buick, and Chrysler reds are very close matches. One is a little darker, one is a little oranger. The engines usually leaked so much, its hard to get an exact color match.

International 4300 Questions
cargostar replied to steven's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
IH would build a truck with just about any wheelbase. The available "standard" wheelbases changed over the years also. Just a quick look thru a couple of my books, I came up with: 160, 170, 196, 218, and 300. If I can lay my hands on my spec sheets, I'll say for sure. The "Hi-rise" sleeper was a 60" long sleeper, and is offered in resin by Jamie at Mo'luminum. (Although on the same spec sheets,I do have the dimensions for the sleeper) -

The way the original letter is worded, you can't even use the name in a descriptive sentence: These stripes fit a P...... and a K...... kit from Italari.......as an example........ Talk about tring to limit free speach! -

I was browsing Evil-bay last night and saw some. Don't know anything about them, or who it is, but here is the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/Resin-Ford-Truck-Van-Wheels-1-24-1-25-F-250-8-Lug_W0QQitemZ220602018444QQcategoryZ2584QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286.m7QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D2%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D7397284962959013298 -
1969 Ford C-Series Hy-Ranger
cargostar replied to cargostar's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I finally over came a hurdle on this thing. One of the unique features of a Hy-Ranger is that the basket is leveled by cables running down the boom and too the base, and these are routed over a couple of large pulleys at the tip of the boom. After giving up finding something that would work I started making my own. This is attempt #4. Now all I have to do is build a second one!! -

The diamond plate is from Don Mills models. I like it because its 0.040" thick, so it can be used as part of the structure. For a Seagrave cab, try Jamie at SSB Resins. He hsa a couple of FDNY style Seagraves. http://www.donmillsmodels.com/main/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage_new.tpl&product_id=183&category_id=25&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=73 http://ssbresins.com/ -

The one that R&R sells is a copy of a '57 Golden Anniversary pick-up. It was a special package for the 50th anniversary of IH truck production. They were the special gold and white two tone, and had a special gold/houndstooth seat upholstry, alng with door panels. Every IH dealer recieved 1 truck, and had the ability to order more. They were all A-100 1/2 tons. The R&R truck has a Chevy frame with it, (as the original was a promo) which has the coil spring rear suspension. The real truck had leaf spring rear suspensio

Home made decals

I have a friend who has used this system with good results. http://www.pulsarprofx.com/DecalPRO/index.html I've watched him use it and it is fairly straight foreward. I was a little confused on it at first, but after watching the videos, and seeing it done first-hand, its a slick system. You still have to have a graphics program of some sort to create your art work.
