  1. The DOT website should have all of the regulations listed
  2. At Autoworld Amazon store, they had the 4300's for $13.50 ea. They are sold out now..
  3. I always say a deep subject for shallow minds.....
  4. I vaguley remember seeing a how-to article, years ago.....
  5. Tim reappeared over on The Scale Firehouse forum earlier this year. He was a regular on there for several months. He hasn't been on since early summer. Haven't heard anything since.
  6. There is one more version of the Scout kit. It has a yellow Scout on the box. It has the '77-79 grill from the off road kit, with the stock components (seats and exhaust) from the '76 kit. It is the version that has been re-issued.
  7. Cast wheels were never chromed. To hard and expensive to do. The chrome bumper and grill were available as an option, and thru the dealers. The cabs were actually stamped by Budd for Ford and others. Some of the stampings were used by Thibault in Canada to built their AWIT line of fire trucks.
  8. Nice job so far!! Yes, the 4270 tool was modified to the 4300, and the CO4000 was modified to the Transtar II cabover.
  9. Looking better all the time!!. I've used Charlies hose tutorial on several builds.
  10. Like there is a demand for an Sd33 besides you???
  11. Kinda sounds a little bit like Cannonball Run.....
  12. Luckily I have at least one of each for refrence!!!
  13. Try Don Mills models for gauges. He has gauges.
  14. Yes, there was an SSII option available from '77-'79 SS stood for Safari Scout, and was a bare bones Scout without top, doors or interior carpeting. Over the years, the misconception is that SS stood for Super Scout, but, it was originaly Safari. Other than the items deleted, IH added the door inserts, and a grill overlay to an otherwise stock Scout.
  15. How about an IH DT466, a DT530, a MV8 gas(404,446,478,549), and a couple different versions of the 6.9-7.3-T444E......keep watching..... I have drawings of a Cummins also, but the IH's come first!
  16. Looking good! If you need help on detail parts for the hose bed, there are several good tutorials over on the Scale Firehouse Forum.
  17. Chris at Sourkrauts model trucks carries a good selection of wheels from various suppliers. Daniel at Plaskit has wheels also.
  18. One word....fugly.....
  19. Heres one of my Sunday drivers; 1967 IH CO1800, 392 V8, P/S, P/B, 5 spd coloum shift, 19,000 miles. Another Sunday driver; 1976 IH 1710 Cargostar, ex CF yard tractor, re-powered with a 345V8, and an auto, P/S, P/B, chrome from retired firetrucks. I have ended up with a another that I intended to use for parts, but, it is the next sequential VIN number to this one! They came off the line behind each other in '76!!! Daily driver; 1980 Scout Traveller, 345V8, auto, air, lift, and some rust. Shown posing next to a Lonestar.
  20. Yep, the 3208 was an available engine!
  21. From the cab back, anything would work. They were available with various frame capacities, and dimensions from 10-12" tall, and up to triple thickness. (Most fire trucks were triple framed). From the cab forward is a different story. The rails not only widen, but they drop, and become shorter. If you're not concerened about 100% accuracy the closest would be the Ford C-cab kits. I have a front frame stub out back I'll get some pics of.
  22. The biggest problem the trucks had when used on a farm was that the engine sat so low in the frame, if they were left running in a field while loading, the heat from the exhaust would catch the field on fire!
  23. Nope, the only thing I've done is a lot of buffing and waxing, and I had to put an output bearing in the back of the trans. Other than that, its all original '67 vintage.
