  1. A small update, but the weather had been spectacular here! Added some sheet and putty to top of dash simulating the crash padding ... some fine sanding to finish it off yet. I started on making the extractor exhaust. I spent a lot of time researching and still am not 100% on how the 4-pipe EMPI system mated at the single muffler pipe. I glued four beading wire pieces, that I'm using for the pipes. together to see if crimping a piece of the bead cone shown over them would look like a collector ... maybe it will work but the group of four pipes looks way to large. I think I'll have to file a taper in each so they come together smaller. This keeps getting more and more complicated. I'd appreciate any suggestions. The muffler pipe came out looking good at least.
  2. This is a cool idea. I have a 968 kit that I used as a donor for another build and if you get in a bind finding a trans-axle let me know. The 968 had only a 230 HP engine so it would be too mild in the real world but fit and looks probably mean more here. I can give you some dimensions at any rate.
  3. I remember this, mostly because I worked at a competitor building nuclear plants.
  4. What Bill describes is the way I enjoy building. I don't sweat finishing anything and just build as I feel like it just for the enjoyment of building. Usually I'm finding I only work at it an hour or less at a time now. So limited bench time is what I do, more than being done to me. I can only say, sit back and enjoy what you get
  5. I started thru these photos waiting for the model to show up of this cool truck ... I was as amazed as everyone when finally realizing these were ALL of the model! Your photography skills are as good as your modeling!
  6. Just a confirmation that this IS a Utilimaster. I got some more photos and and online info .... the front confirms it.
  7. The Hasegawa is the best 944 kit for sure. I had five 924/944's and have been working to reproduce them all. The two 924's stand at one done and one in process. All the 944 kits are turbos and mine were not, so converting to normally aspirated was necessary. The one 944 I've completed was a Testors but the body was close ... it didn't compare to the Hasegawa kits though. have a Hasegawa kit that's becoming the '91 944 bad a few Hasegawa 968 kits that have been donating their engine as the '91 944 has the 3 liter 968 engine. Anyway, it looks like you're doing a good rescue there. Nice that you got one with tan carpets. I'll be enjoying watching this one come together.
  8. I was close to buying one and having it shipped home when I was in the Army in Germany, but a Medical Discharge changed plans. I DO still love the look of the Europa and your build, Jason, is looking fine!
  9. Would have to be one of the '32 Fords ... there's just too many ways they can be built. ... sand texture, palm leaf upholstery ...
  10. A work truck for sure! .. and beautiful to boot!
  11. That's an impressive looking build ... great finish. I can't believe those are kit headers .. ?
  12. That paint makes it a real stand out! very nicely built.
  13. This thread got me to try some paints I had for texturing. The top rear end in the photo is Dupli-Color Textured Metallic Coating. The left side of the axle is the natural color and the right has a coat of Aluminum Plate Metalizer. The lower one has Rust-Oleum Textured Fine Textured Finish which is White. It too had a coat of Aluminum Plate Metalizer. Both gave similar texture which was pretty much to scale for 1/25 parts and I'll be using these in the future.
  14. For pin holes you don't really have to go to all the trouble and waste of 2 part auto putty. Just one part will do fine ... and shrinkage is not an issue with such a small application.
  15. Should be interesting. I remember building one of those when it was new because I thought those high front openings were different.
  16. Model railroad sites are the place to look for grasses and ideas that will do the look you want. The latest thing they are using is static grass. This can get expensive for a small diorama but produces the most natural looking grass, especially longer field grass. The applicator created a static charge so the grass strands stand up on end. Noch is one of the brands but there are many now. Here's a video showing how it's applied that may explain things more.
