  1. Such a natural pairing .. I keep staring and wondering which part is from which. Great idea and spectacular build!!
  2. the engine compartment really pops! All that detailing sure looks worth it.. !
  3. Thanks, Nova. Dash conversions totally depend on the symmetry of the dash. It's surprising how many are pretty easy to switch the dash cluster with the glove box area. I try to cut the same size and shape from each side. A Subaru Legacy wagon also required this and was about the same job. It's something you usually don't have in mind when admiring a dash, but when you look, many will work.
  4. Thanks for the wonderful comments, articzap.
  5. hehehhe ........Quote "You'll NEVER guess what I have under the tarp!"
  6. very good fit. Looks like a marriage made in Heaven. Bet you can fit a lot of suitcases under that hood!
  7. Weber hit my brain soon as I saw them, but what a funky arrangement. Webers are pretty much old school sports cars and equate in Europe to having a pile of Holly 4-barrels on your manifold here. What kind of car was this on? It IS a cool looking setup. Would be cool on a rod. A 74 Vega with 4 sleeping Webers could be cool too!
  8. This is gonna see some real love.. always loved that old Buick dentist's dream! The hood looks like the Buick also.
  9. This is looking fantastic! Sorry to see the flames have gone, but both versions are great. Sorry can't help with the fuel pump, but I know someone more skilled than I will be stepping up.
  10. EDIT: 2/14/15 Think my painting has advanced enough to get this black one done. Just some updates with other wip here but hope to have some photos soon. All additions today here are in red. It seems most of my model subjects in recent times have been of my real life cars. I've been very successful in finding kits close enough to convert to the ones that sat in my garage. Just to fill space and bore you all, completed to date is a '53 VW Bug, 77 Porsche 924, 87 Porsche 944 (normally aspirated engine converted from a turbo is my avatar) and my wife's 68 VW Bug and 91 Subaru Legacy wagon and her '95 Legacy wagon. Since I have you here... in my basement bodyshop are my 91 Porsche 944S2, '81 Porsche 924 Turbo, '84 Porsche 944, 69 VW Bug, 51 Plymouth Cranbrook, Triumph TR4A (bah it's 1/32) (but also started a 1/24 resin one!), 67 Pontiac Tempest, 59 Chevy Impala and wife's 95 Subaru Legacy Wagon. Oh yes .. my Dad's 56 VW Kombi Bus and '92 Crown Victoria are almost done too. AND ... I FINISHED my daughter's '85 GMC Van since this thread was last updated .. wow .. I finished something! eheh. I also started doing a diecast of her '83 Plymouth Reliant. Previous to my current G37 Coupe, I had a 2003 G35 Infiniti 6MT Coupe. This Fujimi Nissan Skyline 350 GT Coupe is of the Japanese version of the American G35. The only differences are the Nissan badging and right-hand drive. The kit is typical Fujimi quality with the body proportions matching the real one perfectly as my eyes see it. I found an Infiniti J30t kit by Aoshima that had PE Infiniti logos and solved most of my logo needs. The dash is very symmetrical and was an easy conversion. Here's the start: Sliced and diced ..ready for the switch.. In place and ready for sanding and putty Done The fragile body gave me untold start and stops as it snapped and broke during body work. This image gives an indication of the trials I went through with just the front end! The greatest challenge to my skills was the optional rear wing on my car but not on the model. So I had to fab one out of sheet styrene and putty. So here it sits in it's present state.. a few other projects have waylayed the completion...
  11. OMG! You butchered a '34 Merc 500 with Pro-stock rubber!!! Call the Plastic Police!! .. oh, wait.. THAT LOOKS GOOD!!!! Seriously, it IS looking great .. as much as I love flowing fenders. A V12 sounds perfect
  12. OH YES!!! Kits were made to be built .. not stored, not horded, not traded for Caribbean vacations ... Hack Plastic!
  13. look at http://www.hoppinhydros.com/ under chains This is looking good
  14. I took the tour.. this is totally davevine! The little touches are awesome... I really cracked up at the birdhouses.. ))
  15. Great paint! I love these old sports cars and an engine! Not many of these old 4-bangers around.
  16. You do have to just get in there and slash plastic, but this forum has a wealth of tips scattered throughout it. I'd suggest going through some of the work-in-progress threads to see techniques, tools and obstacle bashing at it's best. There much to pick up from all the talent here.. it just rubs off.
  17. Those front Masking Brakes look to have gobs of friction.. now that's RAT!
  18. whew.. "no pressure"! This one is gonna have to wait until I DO finish something. I have been thinking, of course. The front of the 51 bears a strong curve resemblance to the 51 Chevys! I have a couple 51 Chevys sitting half done and they are beginning to get nervous. The Chevy headlights are about perfect and one set has been impounded to the Plymouth box. Even better, the grill/hood interface is very close. One of the Chevys may get scheduled for more radical front end work and lose some of its curved panels. The top of the chevy grill will be useful as the backbone of the front reshaping.
  19. looking cool! Even got the nav system up and running already!
  20. This is looking very good and unusual. I love the cab source!! I'd love to see a pic of the front. From the rear it looks to be a fairly well detailed body.
  21. I just received MCG-2670 drilled rotors. They are listed as 15" on the packaging but measure .570" in diameter. That's only 13.68" in 1/24 and 14.24" in 1/25. If they are 15" I need to find some 1/26.3 models!
  22. Those are the stock 2008 G37 rims and I would expect they would have a good chance of fitting a Z, being basically the same vehicles. I think Infiniti comes up with some great looking rims. These I love, as did I the rims on the 2003 G35 before this one.
  23. over the top? .. this could go over the top of about anything! I DO like it.. the revised paint scheme simple but effective
  24. Daily Driver in snow country year round ... 4 Blizzak winter threads plus Electronics = I make it ok
  25. I hope you all realize you'll NEVER finish all these kits!!! eheh Someone mentioned a Sopwith Camel .. is that a Ford? I had the UPS truck really humping out here in the boonies this week... a 10 year search ended for a resin 50 PLymouth! (see kit reviews), MCW paint for the 56 VW Kombi bus ... sand green/palm green (my Dad's and what I learned to drive on), a Revell 06 Dodge Magnum SRT8 (gotta love a car company that chops tops in the showroom!), MCG disk brakes for the 32 channeled, sectioned and widened Ford along with their Spiderweb photo etched grill soon to be sectioned in half to fit grill. Best of all was a find on the shelf of the only LHS within 70 miles .. the AMT Competition Engine Pack! .. wonder if that Allison will fit in a VW Bug?
