MCW?
Randytheroadrunner replied to Randytheroadrunner's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I've been having problems with my mail coming up missing. I sent a letter to Oregon, and 1 year later I got it back with a note saying it was lost in Hawaii. -
MCW?
Randytheroadrunner replied to Randytheroadrunner's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks, he just answered me. -
MCW does not answer their e-mails when trying to find out if they have a car in stock. Why is it in this day and age, a guy like me can accept Paypal and MCW cannot? I'm expected to send a copy of an order form with my credit card number on it? This is 2014, and I do not understand how this company can keep going without having some way to process orders online. I really want to order one of their kits, but the idea of sending my credit card number or a check in todays questionable mail delivery makes me nervous. How do you buy stuff from Model Car World?

I suppose you could just cut off the 340, and put the stripes on without it. -

I've been wanting to build the cars from the movie Hot Rod. The '65 Plymouth, the Willys (sleep at Violet Springs) and the Olds Cutlass owned by "Funny Sonny" Munn. -

1965 Plymouth
Randytheroadrunner replied to Randytheroadrunner's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
He only had a Belvedere I and it was a sedan, not a hardtop. Thanks for the help though. This body appears to be a Belvedere/Satellite hybrid. The Satellite trim on the rear quarter isn't there, and it doesn't have the chrome strip down the side like a Belvedere II hardtop would have. I'm not sure if the RO cars could be had as a hardtop back in 65. -
Even though I was building models in 1965, I have no recollection of ever seeing a 1965 Satellite or Belvedere kit. According to what I have read, Jo-Han, AMT, and MPC all passed on the subject for that year. The only 1965 Mopar B Body was the AMT 1965 Coronet. But looking at this resin car I bought on Ebay last night, I wonder what the parent of this car is. It's not an RR Vacum Craft, nor is it a Model Car World body. You can plainly see the old chassis mounting bosses on the radiator support like a Jo-Han, so what did I buy? The seller gives no name, or offers any insight into who cast this, but it looks pretty good for 25 bucks.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but a Mustang chassis would be a good start to make the Ranchero more realistic.

Hollywood Knights

The "Rail Job" was a Fad T with long front frame rails. They only show it in the race with the Cobra. I'd like to make the '56 Pie Wagon, a friend of mine lives in Boston, and says he sees the real thing at car shows all the time. -
Has anyone ever built the cars from the movie Hollywood Knights? Turk's El Camino and Pie Wagon, the Rail Job, the police car, or Jimmy Shine's '61 Ford?

The body sides on the '81-'93 are completely different.
