  1. All done!
  2. Wow, that's beautiful! I really like all the styling mods and the paint job is very cool, too.
  3. Thanks for the info, BMC.
  4. Thanks guys, I use a Badger-100LGF (fine tip) and a 100-LGM (medium tip). The fine tip works best for the small flame details, and I use the medium for the candy colors.
  5. Red is a good base for true fire, too. The flames on this one are chrome yellow with a clear orange coat, straight chrome yellow for the next layer, and white mixed with chrome yellow for the highlights. Still having way too much fun with this stuff!
  6. Great looking Deuce, excellent work!
  7. Looks really nice in those colors.
  8. Thanks for the info guys. I wasn't planning on living forever but I was imagining a more glamorous obituary than Death by Superglue.
  9. I'd like to try HOK urethane-based paints, but I'm concerned about respiratory safety. How do you guys deal with this? As I understand it, this stuff is basically airborne super glue and can cause some serious health issues. I use a respirator with two screw-on paper filters on the front, and I have a large window fan blowing outside right next to the bench where I set up the airbrush. I'm thinking I need a spray booth with built-in fans or something like that, but I wanted to hear your experiences with this type of paint.
  10. Looks perfect with that low stance, looking forward to seeing more.
  11. This is stunning! The BMF stripe is a great idea and perfectly executed, too.
  12. Thanks Lyle, I'm having way too much fun with this stuff! Once I redid the mustang flames the original flames on this Willys looked way too dark in comparison. I shot clear red over them and added orange and yellow licks on top to give it a more glowing effect. Thanks for checking out the progress:
  13. Beautiful color, looks great!
  14. It's a Badger 100 LGF. Large gravity feed cup with the finest tip.
  15. Turned out my new airbrush developed a huge air leak, so the original paint job was too grainy with overspray due to the low psi. [] I covered the original flames in clear red and added new layers with the repaired airbrush. Luckily I didn't have to redo the whole thing []
  16. Thanks guys! I made some templates out of thin sheet styrene. I just cut wavy patterns along the edges with some curved scissors. Mike's video is definitely a great place to start for doing true fire. I had a lot of "practice runs" (pun intended) on some glossy photo paper that I painted black. Each attempt improved a bit, and the first few were ridiculously bad, mostly because I'm relatively new to the airbrush. These colors aren't really the right ones for true fire but I liked the effect anyway. I'm going to try it on a red base next.
  17. Well, I figured out the overspray problem I was having when I painted the Mustang. My airbrush had a huge air leak! I think it's a faulty joint. Anyway, I patched it up and the p.s.i. is now correct. Here's a Willys I just painted:
  18. Thanks guys and BTW, an improvement I'm going to make for the next one is increased airbrush psi from 20 to about 40 for less grainy overspray. Still burnin' and learnin'....
  19. I picked up a dehydrator so I was able to finish painting this one today. Overall I'm happy with it for my first try. Thanks for checking out the progress pics!
  20. Super job Samantha, looks like you had fun!
  21. Love it! The wide whites are the bomb, and the firewall looks so much better with the slots filled in.
  22. That turned out really nice! Engine compartment is great, and the gold/chrome side trim is perfect.
  23. Not sure what the problem could be, but I use Comcast as a web host. I know that I have to allow cookies (medium high setting in Internet Explorer) to access their site so maybe that's it.
  24. Nice! I like the brake lines and the ID plate on the chassis.
