  1. I could, but it would be easier to just visualize a .040" styrene rectangle painted semigloss black. ?
  2. Like I said, the Douglas way. ? They knew the DC-10 cargo door didn't like to latch but nothing really came from that until that defect actually killed people. Boeing seems to be copying from their playbook.
  3. I love how the "If it ain't Boeing I ain't going" types are eating crow. It's weird to me how people who will never own their own jet liner have brand loyalty in the first place but apparently it's a thing. I've noticed that car people are certainly weird but aircraft people are on a whole 'nother level. Anyway ... it's not like Boeing doing shady stuff is anything new. Right around the time Boeing merged with Douglas they just became Douglas, but somehow worse. Or maybe I'm wrong... Before that happened there was a problem with the PCU in the 737. The PCU being an actuator that controls the rudder. In certain situations the PCU could jam in such a way that a left input on the stick would actually cause the plane to turn right. Obviously a problem, and could make any number of high pressure situations worse for the flight crew. Boeing did not build the PCU, a supplier did, and apparently they were aware of the problem. Boeing was aware too, but they conveniently forgot about it until it had caused two fatal crashes and one that came very close.
  4. I think I can make something happen for this one.
  5. This is basically a 1999 Lightning disguised as a junker F150. Base kit is the Revell F&F Lightning with 3D printed steel wheels of unknown origin, a Revell 1997 F-150 grille left over from updating another project, and a Lindberg 4x4 bumper. Some mismatched panels and generally being dirtied up complete the illusion. Somehow, even though the Revell Lightning kit has existed for a good quarter century now, this is the first time I've actually built one.
  6. Only ones I've bought are the Iceman grilles for the new kits. I was happy with them. Haven't tried the other ones...yet.
  7. I've always seen Tim as being like the Gray Baskerville of the scale model side of the automotive hobby. I missed out on the build project but I have done my own take on a few of his projects. I just need to remember which ones and if I have photos ?
  8. Trust me, both subjects are at the top of the project priorities list. I'm keeping my expectations in check seeing as how they're reverse engineered annual kits with some modern concessions but if they're done at least as well as the Nova wagon, I don't think I'm gonna have much to complain about.
  9. If that's the case I'm not aware of it.
  10. I know I've had a couple of these kits over the years but I think this is the first one I've actually built. Not the greatest kit but still a fun project, which I suppose is the whole point. The hood fits about as well as it's going to in the photos. It just refuses to sit flush on the passenger side. For some reason the exhaust tips are molded with the roll pan. I cut them off and hit them with some Revell chrome in a can. After misplacing the factory airbox I replaced it with an Iceman conical filter. Neither of the included wheel and tire options suited me, so I modified some Testors Eddie Van Halen wheels to fit the Revell brake rotors. With the lowered suspension, the gas tank is dangerously close to the ground, if I built another one I would address that. Speaking of Testors, I used an ancient can of Pure Gold for the paint.
  11. If you want to muddy the waters even further, Ford was known to re-use illustrations and photos from previous model years, even if what was shown was no longer how the trucks came. For instance, I don't recall the year, but Custom Cab models originally came with black steering wheels. Later on, Custom Cab interiors were equipped with white or color keyed steering wheels, even though you will see factory literature showing a plain black steering wheel in a Custom Cab after this change happened. And that's just one example.
  12. MPC kit that's been lowered, fitted with 454SS wheels and newer Firestone tires, and painted in Testors Mythical Maroon and Diamond Dust. It also has seats from the 454SS, a tonneau cover from the phantom dually kit, and a 5.3 LS engine from a Revell 99 Silverado. This kit fought me for whatever reason, despite the fact I've built essentially this same kit numerous times. ? I also wanted to use up the last old can of Mythical Maroon I had laying around. Unfortunately it didn't hang around long enough to coat the hood. So the hood is Tamiya Mica Red. In person it doesn't even come close to a match but in the photos it looks presentable. ?
  13. NO LOWBALLERS I KNOW WHAT I GOT ?
  14. This was the last kit I bought from Dean's Hobby Stop before he closed up. That fact sort of inspired the project. It's the 1990 annual kit with the sliding rear window, gauge cluster, Silverado badges and tailgate banner from the current monster truck reissue. I used a rear bumper from the 1992 curbside kit because it has better step detail than the 1990 version. I also used printed Firestone tires just because I had a few too many sets kicking around. The bumper stickers and bow ties are from a couple Gofer sheets, and Dean Sills was made from cutting letters out of a generic blue police car lettering sheet.
  15. Not a huge update, but the '53 now has side mirrors, courtesy of a Moebius F100.
  16. Looks very good from where I sit. Don't think I've ever seen that kit before. And yes, the Sunny looks fantastic with it.
  17. Let me look through my stash and see if I find something that'll work
  18. Nice! I don't think that old Monogram kit has ever looked so good.
  19. I don't see the need for that. Anyone want to weigh in on including a list?
  20. As someone who just recently built the sushi truck version, nicely done ?
  21. I actually had the thought while building this of doing a Kenmeri Skyline in that style. Like "what if Mad Max were a Japanese movie".
  22. Nicely done! One of these days I want to make an interior for that camper. Looks like Round 2 missed recreating the taillight bezels that have been missing from the last few reissues.
  23. This might be a box stock Aoshima kit. (I may or may not have borrowed the wheels from another kit.) Paint is Tamiya Park Green distressed with Acrylic Vallejo paint. Note the rust on non-ferrous surfaces like the flares and spoilers. I was going for a kind of classic JDM tuner meets post apocalypse look.
  24. I think you're obligated now. I want the completed model on my desk on the eleventyfifth no later than 4 o'clock.
  25. Box stock Academy kit that's a pleasure to build. Don't know why I slept on this kit for so long. Since the kit includes different mirrors and bumpers, I "mismatched" those to indicate collision damage repaired with salvage parts. The primed fender missing it's side marker lamp emphasizes it. Otherwise it's scummed up with Tamiya and Vallejo paints.
