Tamiya....lets get it right.
Chuck Most replied to roadhawg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Why do they call them 'buildings' when they're done building them? They should call them 'builts'. -
Alyn- dumb question- are these WIP pics from the '40 you already did, or are you building another one like it to show how it was done?

70-72 Cutlass Supreme Hardtop
Chuck Most replied to 66belair's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Different side panels and rear seat, from the looks of things. Even so, I don't think it would be much effort/expense on Revell's part to kit the hardtop, no matter which version. -

Like Harry mentioned, it has changed from being hyphenated to one word over the years. Here's an original-artwork '60's Fire Ambulance For a time they had a somewhat cutesly logo, with a narrow whitewall tire for an 'O'... And finally, it was done as one word, with no hyphen, in all caps, during the Okey Spaulding years... So... long story short, I suppose whether you spell it with or without the hyphen depends on when the kit you are reffering to was manufactured. -

Hosed it off in Oliver Green, pained a few accents with Testors Firey Orange, and made up some front and rear ends for the thing. -
Why no 1968 Camaro kits?
Chuck Most replied to Rob Hawkins's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think that one was 'street machine' stye only- no stock parts, only the street machine parts. I could be wrong, but I'm about 90% positive that one could not be built stock. Filling in the hole in the hood wouldn't be a big deal, though, and you might be able to rob the stock exhaust from an MPC '69 Convertible or a '69 Firebird. -
Re-building glue bombs

If you smell a citrus scent, you're in luck- that means non-toxic tube glue was used, and that's about the easiest stuff to work with as far as dismantling goes. -

On a similar note, 'Willys' is pronounced 'Willis', as in 'Bruce Willis' or 'What you talkin' 'bout, Willis'. And there's no apostrophe, either. -
Ever have a tire shrink?
Chuck Most replied to Chuck Most's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I know! I checked some of my dirt track tires... no such luck there. None of the other tires in the tackle boxes appear to be affected, and some of them have been in there for several years. -

Keep your eyes peeled on eBay and old kit vendors websites- you see the JoHan '70 fastback hardtop pop up every so often, and the prices on them usually aren't too bad. I think it's a foregone conclusion Revell will do a hardtop '72 Cutlass kit at some point in the future- that's about the only reason I can think that no resin caster has taken up the task of casting such an animal. In the meantime, as was mentioned, you can make your own by grafting on a roof from an AMT '70 Monte Carlo, or, if you want the 'fastback' roof, an MPC/AMT '69 or a JoHan '70. -
I'm going to add the Moebius Hudson Hornet to my personal list. (Big shocker, huh? ) Does it have its faults? Yeah. But what kit doesn't? The important thing to me is it goes together so well, accepts modifications better than just about any kit I've ever hacked to bits, and its just a blast to build, even straight out of the box. Every time I crack one open I still think "Jeez, this was engineered by a company new to car kits"?
