  1. Well... yeah! Go to any of the threads in the New Kit Reviews section, and you'll see people saying what they want to do with an upcoming kit. How is anything like this or that coming across as 'not being pleased' with the kit? If I weren't pleased with what I'd seen with regards to the Chrysler kit, I'd have not posted this. Many people might not buy the kit knowing it's factory-stock only, but if you show 'em a few modified examples of what's been done with the 1:1, might get them thinking about getting a few of them. I think we'll see a pretty good assortment of build styles for this Chrysler- from straight out of the box to drastically reworked creations. And I'm not even going to get into that Sketchpad Jairus did a few months back, which hatched a few more project ideas for me to try on this kit too.
  2. Haven't seen the 1:1 car until just now... but I must say your model looks a lot better to me.
  3. Yeah- the color is the one element of that car I don't pariculary care for. Now... picture that same car done up in the Newport's blue/white scheme.... THAT'S more along the lines of what I'm thinking.
  4. Or, it might be a simple matter of being used to the one ID fits all tires the other kits have been using for as long as I can remember. When you're used to seeing a kind of 'universal' 15 or 16" wheel, seeing an in-scale 14" wheel would deliver the illusion of the wheel being underscale. I did, and it does. Well, my one worry with the kit has pretty much been eliminated!
  5. This is the first one I'm thinking I'll try- not an exact replica, but something based on this. And of course, this- I'm thinking of something a bit more traditional as well, along these lines... Here's a stock Windsor Newport- And maybe something for a diorama, a Chrysler with its engine out-
  6. I was thinking the same thing. I was planning on getting a couple of these at first, but I think I'll be getting more than a couple now.
  7. For some reason the back end of the concept kinda reminds me of a '73-77 Chevelle Wagon. Only more pleasing to the eye.

  9. To me, it's begging for a larger scale engine, maybe something like 1:20 or something pirated from an MPC Zinger. But a big old 429 would be cool, too.
  10. There was one featured in the other mag about six years back- the photos were smallish, but it did have at least one shot of the model with the front clip removed. That's the only full-on FWD drag model I've seen built.

  12. Agreed, except I don't have a 1510. I will say it very closely resembles a '70's Ford tractor.
  13. Two of me, both from 2009 I look about the same now, but the beard is a lot more Viking-warrior looking today.
  14. On second thought, I think it might just be the angle from which the models are photographed. Looking at just the photos of the wheels and tires themselves, they look fine. Quite a few of the finished car shots are at a somewhat high angle- an angle you'd only see a 1:1 from if you were standing up on a stool or abnormally tall. From that perspective, the whitewalls look like they're tucked up into the fenders a bit more than they should be, which would create the illusion of a too-tall tire and/or an undersize wheel. Looking at the first shot of the white car, which is shot at an angle more like how you'd approach the car in 1:1, the tires look a lot better. Might just be a 'perception thing' on my part.
  15. One minor gripe I can see.... somethings up with the rolling stock. Wheels look a bit too small, tires look a bit too tall... maybe a combination of both. That being said, will that stop me buying the kit? Absolutely not. The rest of the kit more than makes up (those Hemi engine parts look particularly well done), and the finished models look fantastic. Splendid job once agian, Len and Bill.
  16. Just got my first order from Ed Fluck at Drag City- the '36 Ford truck grille shell with separate insert. This will end up on an East-coast style Deuce at some point. Good price, great casting quality, and very fair price.
  17. Wow, take the new Camaro, toss a 1985-vintage set of rollers on it, recycle the old Powerglide name for use on whatever automatic they're using now, slap some stickers on it, and tack a substantial % onto the MSRP because you're only building 69 of them. Really? Is this the best GM can do?
  18. Normally my philosophy is "If it has a rake it could be lower", but I do like the stance you have in the most recent pic.
  19. Wow! I don't think I'd wanna go to that extent in styrene, much less brass! Weirdest thing of all, the model is four years older than me, and it's aged WAY better. I actually do remember these, though- Superior Dairy, in theSaginaw Bay reigion of Michigan,was still using these Divcos for home delivery right up until the early 1990's.

  21. Built one of these years ago (replicated it fitted out with Mopar's infamous RWD 'Conversion Kit'- you got a North/South engine crossmember... and that was the entire 'kit'), forgot it had two four cylinder engines in addition to the V8. It's acutally a pretty good kit for its time, IMHO.
  22. Crusty custom? Maybe something along these lines? That was the concept behind this Merc- it was an old custom that had been done back in the '50's, got wrecked, sat for a while, and got patched back together just well enough to be a dependable cruiser.
  23. I like that idea. Years ago, my grandfather subscribed to Gas Engine Magazine, and it came with a second, plain cover over the regular cover. It protected the rest of the magazine pretty well, and if you left it on it protected the magazine for years after it was delivered.
  24. Does this kit have a full engine? Just curious.
