  1. And if you want to lose the molded-in headlamp lenses and the divots molded into the grille mesh patter for the front mounted lights, the Monogram '59 Eldorado piece will fit with minimal fuss.
  2. Lack of foil aside, the rest looks very nice! Once it's foiled it'll be a real looker.
  3. Agreed. They weren't great on gas, they weren't very powerful, but if you wanted hundreds of thousands of miles of trouble-free service, a Ford 300 is the way to go. Tom, not sure how 'purist' you'd like to keep this, but I'd vote for leaving the wheels brown. I rather like them that color. You could say this was a retired unit, and the private owner decided to paint the wheels brown as a personal touch.
  4. '29 A roadster, built totally from spares....
  5. For me, if I the subject 'gets' me, I build it. Period. Sure, I have my likes and dislikes, and there are certain genres and car manufacurers I favor above all others, but if I see something I like, I'll get to modeling it eventually. Sometimes I'll even buy a kit of a subject I'm not too wild about just to see what all the fuss over it is about, and oftentimes, I'll build that kit in accordance with my tastes. And this doesn't just apply to auto models- I've built everything from a Batman Batwing, WWII battleships, a Star Trek model or two, and a Ford Tri-Motor plane.
  6. Gimme a Pintera, please... Better still... gimme a new-tool Pinto! Yeah, yeah... not gonna hold my breath..
  7. This officially went from (on a scale of 1 to 10) about an 8 to a solid 14.5 once the Deal's Wheels parts entered the picture.
  8. No shiny for Chuck this fine but windy Saturday...
  9. 'Ere she is, as of today...
  10. Ride height looks acceptable given the 1965 pics, but gawd those tires still look awful!
  11. Just wondering- has anyone purchased (or better yet, used) this transkit? What can you tell me about the casting quality? As it sits right now, about my only reservation about it is having to order from Europe, but if it's a decent enough transkit that might ease some of that feeling. http://www.scaleproduction.de/product_info.php/info/p1581_V-W--DoKa---CrewCab-.html
  12. Funny you mention an Audi R8... I was just thinking the other day about stuffing the drivetrain from one of those into a Hasegawa '67 Type II pickup... Well, I think I'm onto something here... This is Hasegawa's cubside '63 Bus kit. So far, I have lowered it, and added some Firestone Wide Ovals and 'Flipper' full wheels covers from an AMT '40 Ford Sedan delivery. The kit has no inner side panels of any kind, so I'll have to make some up- especially since I cut open the sliding sunroof, for reasons which now escape me. It will have a crusty finish- this will be fitted with a hitch and used to tow a Beetle-based Voksrod. The paint job is mostly complete as I type this, I'm just waiting for it to gas out a bit- it's a rusty black over yellow scheme. The rear liftgate was broken out, so I painted it green to indicate a junkyard replacement panel.
  13. PLEASE tell me those aren't the tires it comes with. I have no idea if they're accurate or not, but they look terrible. And that ride height- is it 4WD or something? Now, that one Tommy built is more like it.
  14. I think it was supposed to be a GM Hydramatic- that's what it most closely resembles.
  15. Same here with that. My avatar is Gumby now because I couldn't load my lightly-Photoshopped Harvey Dent image. My previous avatar was Jeff 'The Dude' Lebowski. No matter what you ever do in your life, you will never be as cool as The Dude. As far as avatars go, I just use something I personally find amusing, while keeping it SFW. User name is my real name, though I did go by 'Count Chuckula' for a while. That was a nickname given to me by a former supervisor at work. Harry even reworked a Count Chocula box image to read Count Chuckula, and that is what I used for my avatar during that time.
  16. Hey... that XT GT looks awfully close to the US-market '67 Falcon four-door nobody produces in kit form. I've been looking for just such an animal for a while now...
  17. I've never built this kit, but today I've been thinking about picking one up and having at it. Fun Urban Legend... Walter Koenig was chosen to play Pavel Chekov on Star Trek because of his resemblence to Davy, and it is a documented fact the producers made him wear a Davy Jones-styled wig until his own hair grew out.
  18. BODYWORK! I hate it passionately, but it seems like every project I do requires a sizable amount of it.
  19. I've got a similar project in the works, only I didn't shorten the cab area and the front end is removed completely. I'll be tagging along for sure!
  20. I'll be sending an order Ed's way tomorrow- he's still doing his thing, but I don't think it's a full-time gig for him.
  21. My experience buying online. Hey, sweet! Moebius Hornet for $18.99, plus $8.00 shipping! Ordered it a week ago, and the package is still in friggin' Mississippi. My experience buying from my local shops. Hey, sweet! Moebius Hornet for $24.99, no shipping, and it's on my way to/from work so fuel burned is a moot point, and it's in my possession immmediately. I'm supporting the local economy, having a pleasant conversation with Ed or Dean, maybe hanging out with a few local modelers, flipping through the new Revell catalog, bouncing ideas off the other guys for future projects, planning the next show.... yeah, wow... this is so much better than clicking 'buy now'!
  22. Four years late, but here goes... http://www.oldimagineer.info/
  23. Hubley did '60-'62 fullsize Fords, but not a '63. Judging from that and the fact you mentioned it has printing on the various chassis parts, I'd say you have an original AMT dealer promo.
  24. Nice! All I'd do is lower the nose a bit, but other than that it looks like something I'd build.
