  1. Can't believe I forgot this, but Dave Metzner has some great shots of a Twin H six out of the car in this album- http://dmetzner.smugmug.com/Cars/Hostetler-Hudson-Museum/18245855_HSHmWV#1403272190_qK5Cffc
  2. I think I'm going to have to try both methods, just to be sure. Oh- and do one strictly OOB. Then again, maybe I should just worry about finishing my '10 GT glue kit before I do anything too out-of-hand.
  3. ROUGH. We're talking 1/16" pinholes in the bottom, some degree of warp in just about every part (it's not obvious in the pic, but I didn't quite straighten out the cab roof, there's an ever-so-slight 'dip' in the middle of the upper windsheild frame) and a second layer of resin had been poured in a few thin spots. The thickness of the casting was a bit inconsistent. Not a great deal of flash, though, and overall parts fit was okay, but all in all, far from great. I should probably also point out that the interior is a '73-79 style, basically a straight repop of the AMT kits, and incorrect for a '67-72.
  4. I'm thinking it might be easy to just transfer the snap kit body to a glue kit chassis and interior (with the convertible back seat and rear inner quarters), once the mounting posts and that big web in the hood opening are removed. I might swap the rear fascia, though- not sure if I like the way they did the taillamps on the snap kit.
  5. So... is 40 weight oil still 40 weight in 1:25 scale?
  6. The Porsches kinda bum me out. THAT'S a tradgedy, even if nobody got hurt. Still, I'd have to think any one of those massive pileups in inclement weather (the ones with dozens of cars, trucks, and 18 wheelers) would probably represent a bigger loss, dollar wise, than this. Just a semi tractor and trailer can be almost a quarter million, not even counting the value of any cargo.
  7. Dave posted some pics of the original tooling model on his Smugmug some time ago- http://dmetzner.smugmug.com/Cars/1955-Chrysler-C-300/13100296_JtFzRc#949713917_yHGDW
  8. No, but I have found it right in front of me, after it seemingly turned invisible for the last half hour. Ever spent 15 minutes looking for your glasses only to realize they were on your face the whole time? I know I have.
  9. Funny- I know one of those 'dead serious' replica stock modelers. Whenever he shows off his latest model and lists all the things he did to it to make it as realistic as possbile, I pick it up and tell him- "Scale weight is off. I shouldn't be able to pick it up with one hand." It used to amuse him, now I think it just annoys him.
  10. I do confess to spraying parts while still on the sprue, then touching up areas left bare once they're cut free. A lot of people have told me I shouldn't do this, but so far, none of them have told me a good reason WHY I shouldn't. There are exceptions- if a part has an unusually large or thick runner, or if there is a lot of flash on the part itself, or a heavy mold seam. I do what George does took, except instead of foam I use a large square slab of balsa wood.
  11. Hear that? That's the sound of me laughing at all those "Hurrr...derrrppp... they'll never sell a Hudson Hornet kit" types right about now.  Bad news is I missed the boat on this particular release, but you have to take the good with the bad I suppose.
  12. Nice! Dark green looks very good on it.
  13. Might just be exposed red oxide primer though.
  14. Maybe not- seeing as how the car in the show was said to have been a former race car (but wasn't IRL), maybe making this stock (or at least closer to stock) would actually help to widen its appeal- to both DOH and factory stock builders. Leave the NASCAR-spec stuff in it, and that's at least three genres the kit could cover.
  15. I've got a similar project going on- except it's the '72 GMC cab/chassis with a cut-down Chevy Fleetside bed.
  16. Always like seeing the progress on this. Love that grille!
  17. Just imagine how much MORE fumes you'd get if you painted all the areas on a model! Hey... maybe THAT'S why Cranky does it...
  18. Not if they snap into place or stay put via 'tension fit'. :P
  19. Not sure on the relevence being this is a Chrysler, but if I recall the Desotos came in 276, 291, 330 and 345 displacements, and the Dodge Red Rams were 241, 270, 315, and 325. Depending on year/model/etc.
  20. R&R Vacuumcraft casts a '72 (same body style) you could modify to work... but R&R's castings aren't that great. You might be able to rework an AMT '73-79 kit- the greenhouse on the cab is the same.
  21. And whats with the moustaches? Does one have to be a moustache enthusiast in order to be a police officer? (I'm only half joking...)
  22. Viper V-10, hooked to a Corvette torque tube/transaxle in a '75 AMC Matador.
