  1. There is more than one Prius forum? That's got to be worse than 4chan.
  2. If the body 'hugs' the lid tightly enough, you usually don't even need tape. I have had a few fall off- never fun, so whenever I'm in doubt about the stability of the body on my makeshift stand, out comes the tape.
  3. I'd have to agree with your verdict. Senior isn't even trying anymore, and Junior often doesn't know when to quit with the 'theme'. I do think none of them would have gotten anywhere without Discovery Channel, but even so, James is a pretty good builder, and his bike was a pretty good example of what he's capable of. I just wonder why he cheated on Sandra Bullock with Frankenstien...
  4. Or an updated version of the car in your pic. Might get two of these- one to build as a replica of the Fish street machine, the other to build as a period custom.
  5. Very well, DOH Hornet it is! On a serious note though, I think it would be VERY cool to build a NASCAR Hornet loaded with some of Smokey's infamous 'creative reading of the rulebook' built into it. Widened rear quarters, hidden airfoils, etc. Great- now there's another Hornet I have to build!
  6. Jeff Ballard at Motor City Resin casters is working on a couple of '54s, but they might be a little ways off.
  7. I'm a little suprised nobody's done a Doc Hudson yet ( I HAVE seen the decal sets...) if for no other reason than to troll Danno to the point he hates Doc Hudson models just as much as (if not more than) General Lee models.
  8. Marshall Teague, perhaps? Or possibly Herb Thomas. They were the only two who drove the cars in that livery.
  9. A Chuck Most paint stand is highly elaborate- it is an old can of junk dollar store spray paint with the lid still snapped on. Slip the body over the cap and you have a makeshift 'turntable' style spraying stand. I do like this Donn Yost stand better, at least in concept, and am thinking of giving it a go, though.
  10. Seems like it would be VERY difficult to pour 1:1 40 weight into a 1:25 scale oil fill, even with the aid of a funnel!
  11. Count on it. As soon as I get past the 'just piddling with it' stage.
  12. And who will let a caster borrow it? Got to be somebody!
  13. Can't believe I forgot this, but Dave Metzner has some great shots of a Twin H six out of the car in this album- http://dmetzner.smugmug.com/Cars/Hostetler-Hudson-Museum/18245855_HSHmWV#1403272190_qK5Cffc
  14. I think I'm going to have to try both methods, just to be sure. Oh- and do one strictly OOB. Then again, maybe I should just worry about finishing my '10 GT glue kit before I do anything too out-of-hand.
  15. ROUGH. We're talking 1/16" pinholes in the bottom, some degree of warp in just about every part (it's not obvious in the pic, but I didn't quite straighten out the cab roof, there's an ever-so-slight 'dip' in the middle of the upper windsheild frame) and a second layer of resin had been poured in a few thin spots. The thickness of the casting was a bit inconsistent. Not a great deal of flash, though, and overall parts fit was okay, but all in all, far from great. I should probably also point out that the interior is a '73-79 style, basically a straight repop of the AMT kits, and incorrect for a '67-72.
  16. I'm thinking it might be easy to just transfer the snap kit body to a glue kit chassis and interior (with the convertible back seat and rear inner quarters), once the mounting posts and that big web in the hood opening are removed. I might swap the rear fascia, though- not sure if I like the way they did the taillamps on the snap kit.
  17. So... is 40 weight oil still 40 weight in 1:25 scale?
  18. The Porsches kinda bum me out. THAT'S a tradgedy, even if nobody got hurt. Still, I'd have to think any one of those massive pileups in inclement weather (the ones with dozens of cars, trucks, and 18 wheelers) would probably represent a bigger loss, dollar wise, than this. Just a semi tractor and trailer can be almost a quarter million, not even counting the value of any cargo.
  19. Dave posted some pics of the original tooling model on his Smugmug some time ago- http://dmetzner.smugmug.com/Cars/1955-Chrysler-C-300/13100296_JtFzRc#949713917_yHGDW
  20. No, but I have found it right in front of me, after it seemingly turned invisible for the last half hour. Ever spent 15 minutes looking for your glasses only to realize they were on your face the whole time? I know I have.
  21. Funny- I know one of those 'dead serious' replica stock modelers. Whenever he shows off his latest model and lists all the things he did to it to make it as realistic as possbile, I pick it up and tell him- "Scale weight is off. I shouldn't be able to pick it up with one hand." It used to amuse him, now I think it just annoys him.
  22. I do confess to spraying parts while still on the sprue, then touching up areas left bare once they're cut free. A lot of people have told me I shouldn't do this, but so far, none of them have told me a good reason WHY I shouldn't. There are exceptions- if a part has an unusually large or thick runner, or if there is a lot of flash on the part itself, or a heavy mold seam. I do what George does took, except instead of foam I use a large square slab of balsa wood.
