Not just a body, but I think to do a Ranchero you'd need to also make up a new chassis plate (I'm assuming the Revell '57 will have the rear wheel wells molded to it). Even so, they could use quite a bit from the 300 to pull it off, and I'd love to see a GOOD '57 Ranchero kit... or better still, a '58! (What? A boy can dream, can't he? )

Where are the 48's?
Chuck Most replied to MikeMc's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Oh, I agree! I had plans to buy several of them once the pics of what came in the kit started leaking out, but for whatever reason, I started losing interest in them the moment I saw people building them. Usually the opposite is true for me. I think it's because I was more interested in the custom parts that came with the kit, and the go-fast stuff for the Flattie, than the actual car itself. I don't know. The kit's still out there, so I guess I've got time to still consider it. I'm pretty sure I'll end up with at least a couple of them by the time it's all said and done. And besides... If I (and the rest of us) buy enough of this one, maybe Revell will see fit to tool up a coupe with a stock-height roof! -

Nah... Rick just forgot everybody else's name. He does that. -
Well... when I plugged a Super Bee pro street chassis under a '78 Monaco body, I had a '70 Super Bee and a somewhat crude Mopar chassis. I'm thinking of using the Monaco chassis, gluing the hood closed on the Super Bee, and using it as filler for a junkyard/car lot/repair shop diorama.

Yep- there is no pic. Still haven't picked this one up. NOT quite as pumped up about it now as I was when I first saw it. -
Alright- I'll let it slide. This time.

I'm about 40 miles north of you- the fun started late last night up here. It's a full-blown Winter Wonderland in Gratiot County now.

Polar Lights Bug "Herbie" question
Chuck Most replied to Rick Schmidt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Oh- heres the pic- as you can see, I got rid of the wipers and drip rails (you can do that when you don't build stock ). Note the window trim is molded to the clear pieces and is very easy to foil- nice touch, especially for a snap kit. -
Well, yeah... but all that means is the Chevy guys need all that aftermarket support to make their cars into what they wanted them to be in the first place.

The drip rails and wipers are pretty thick (and the wipers are molded to the cowl) but other than that and what Jacen said, it's a pretty good kit. Oh- and the body will fit over a Tamiya chassis and interior, if you screw up your Tamiya body and are in a pinch for a replacement. -
One of my all-time favorites- that goes for 1:1 subject and the kit, even if the kit does have a few issues. Your build proves it only takes a few well-chosen upgrades to make it look really good.

Looks good. I have to say I've never had much luck getting the hood to fit on that kit, either.

Another One Bites the Dust

It probably isn't right, but something being 'right' doesn't seem to matter much these days. -
Hey... is that a '66 Nova that WASN'T raided for its chassis?
-
Meh... everybody knows the only reason Chevy domnates NASCAR is sheer number- half the cars are 'Chevys', the rest is a split of the other three manufacturers.
-
Yeah- if you're looking for oddball Mopar stuff, Ron is the guy to talk to.

And now, it's up on wheels, and I put the manifolds back on the engine. Yes, the chin spoiler was a snow shovel at one time.

Stone, Woods, Cook Willys hood

The were lift off, but had a couple of 'fingers' on them that snapped into grooves in the fenders.
