  1. That's molded to the glass- all you have to do is paint it black! Same deal on the rear window, but that wasn't an issue here.
  2. Probably. But hey- my high school team was the Ithaca Yellowjackets, and as of yesterday, they're two-time state champs in football after the Ford Field game.
  3. About all I did on those was strip the factory chrome, prime them black, then hit them with a thin coat of Model Master German Silver, capped off with a dull clear.
  4. Wow... now I might have to try that Model A/'50 Effie thing....
  5. First thing I thought of when I read the OP. Not much into boat models, but a very cool article, and resulting model.
  6. I like my idea for a 2012 Scout better! No pics, because it's still nowhere near started.
  7. His second ban passed a loooooooooong time ago, he was around for a few months after, then kind of vanished. He's been back lately, though.
  8. Haven't been to one in AGES. Last time I was at one though, I did pick up an original AMT '25 T double kit (missing all but the stock truck building parts) and a complete, original Revell Orange Crate.
  9. Keep wondering how it would look if you shot a pearl clearcoat over the white on the roof...
  10. Sweet! How well did the TC interior tub fit? I've only test-fit one into my Lincoln body, but it seems like it's way too big. (Probably obvious, given one is 1:25 scale and the other is 24)
  11. That's actually in the cards- didn't have one ready for the photo op, though.
  12. Second one's done. (You'll be seeing the first shortly enough.) http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=50425&pid=560856&st=0&#entry560856
  13. Basically it's just an in-progress project you can still cruise on weekends. Maybe one of these days it will be a full-blown lead sled, but for now it's just a beater you can take to the car shows. Highlights include the Rambler V8, open trunk filled with all sorts of trash, and its general crusty demeanor.
  14. Good point! I did set a couple of the old AMT trailers next to my Lonestar (still uncompleted) and even so, the '70's vintage stuff just somehow looked out of place with it.
  15. I've always wanted to stick a 5-speed in one just for a good time.
  16. I was toying with the idea of making the fins taller from the get-go, finally decided to give it a try. So far so good. Next up will be adding shrouded side pipes, and doing a bit more work on the front end. Kinda toying with the idea of a Beatnik Bandit bubble top just for giggles- it would almost look like a mini-Homer. Please let me know if there's a line I've crossed so I can keep on running right past it.
  17. The Hornet- striped ex-coupe of mine is inching ever closer to finish (should be in Under Glass tomorrow, if my luck holds...) and a few observations- 1. If you want to install a V8 engine, you will need to trim the battery tray back- I ended up trimming mine to about half its original width. This isn't so it will clear once assembled (the battery will fit) but so you can get the completed chassis with engine up into the body. 2. The decals lay down beautifully, with no setting solutions needed, but they like to hunker down and stay in place once off the backer- take your time, be careful, and apply them exactly where you want them! 3. Watch the mounting holes- particularly on the engine, and on the mirrors- the holes seem a bit undersized. 4. Chase out the wheel bosses by twisting a drill bit into them to clear out any plating residue before inserting the metal axle (rear) or plastic stubs (front). 5. On the other project (more on that later) I think cutting the rear window unit into its three separate panes will help the rear quarter glass fit better. 6. I can't get enough of this kit.
  18. I remember that one Andy.... and the correction in SAE because it was mis credited in the previous issue.
  19. Sometimes you've got to bleed for your art- hopefully everything else will turn out well.
