The tires from the Revell Acura RSX will fit as well, once the 'rib' is filed off the wheel, but the sidewall looks to be waaaaaaay too short.
-
Amen to that! 4 wheel drive is nice, but it is NOT a protective force field! Driving still requires some degree of mental aptitude on your part.

I'm going by memory here, but I think I used the AMT '05 300C tires on one of my '05 builds. The Supra tires are the ideal choice though.

VERY realistic finish on the trailer load! Is that flocking? -
Revell '49 Merc; alternative engines

Gonna. I'm even playing around with the idea of an altered wheelbase Hornet, just to mess with people. Dave... that's about what I had in mind for the one I was thinking of. Killer build. Now I've just got to think of how to make mine different from yours! -
I'm on the fence about the box art- the 'up on a ladder' view is at least something different. It does seem to obsucure the tire/ride height issues... maybe that's why they did it? Still not the most flattering image though. The wheels look a LOT more realistic than the soft, blob-ish things in the '07 kit. Still haven't finished my '10 GT, but so far I have had no issues with it- so I'm expecting the same from this kit. REALLY glad Revell has ended its love affair with molding the grille surfaces to the front facia (Dodge Magnum, Ford Lightning, etc.), so no tedious masking required for the grille. That was one of my favorite features on the '07 GT 500 (along with the hood vents), glad to see the feature made it to the '10 Shelby kit as well. I don't build too many late-model car kits, but I'll be getting more than a few of these.

I know Don ended up with his '59 Chevy sedan delivery. Sure hope somebody got this one!

I've been toying with the idea of slinging a straight axle under the front of one of these, just because the combination of gasser and lead sled elements would look so wrong but so right together. -
Might take a break from the Matador for a bit- just means I'll have to blow the dust off the '61 Rambler or crack open the '59.

Polar Lights Bug "Herbie" question
Chuck Most replied to Rick Schmidt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd love to see the roof just molded open (perhaps with an option of closed or open sliding tops....), but after hearing what I heard about the kit, then actually buying the kit and seeing for myself, I was actually pretty happy with the kit overall. A choice of waterslide or stick-on decals would be nice for future issues, as well. Why not? Seemed to work okay for the COT kits. -

Happy B-Day Scrubba! Try not to have TOO much fun. -

Greg is right- and what inaccuracies it DOES have are easily fixed. It's actually pretty nicely detailed, even though it's a snap kit. Full engine detail, opening hood and trunk, and a decent interior. Not quite as nice as the Tamiya '66, but still pretty good all things considered. -

In that case I'd go with a Ford FE- preferably a 427, depending on how generous the budget is. and of course I'd use the 'Mercury' valve covers from the AMT '66 Park Lane kit. -

LIke that idea! I will say a small block Ford looks lost in there, though. Tried one out of the Deuce kits in the Merc one time- right back out it went. -
Well... ya shouldn't have fed it after midnight!
-
Well, I mean readily available kits. So (for me) that pretty much rules out everything but the AMT '69. And the Lindberg Ford Cougar. Guess I hadnt even considered scales or body materials- I DO have a couple of Hot Wheels Cougars, and since it seems reworking Hot Wheels cars is getting pretty popular... And the Sportsroof Kitty looks killer... might need to do mine as a faux Shelby Cougar fastback now.
-
Billy- had that very same idea in mind. Darn- might need to build mine as a wagon or something!

The existing Cadillac engine will pretty much accept any of the go-fast parts from the Parts Pack and Roth Outlaw engines, even a few from Olds engines. As far as swapping out the existing engine, the first one I ever built ended up with a Monogram '50 Ford flathead with the Ardun heads and intake. Fit pretty well and needed little to no effort to swap in. -

Closest I can think of is MCW's '53, which is available as a coupe or hardtop. -
Sometime in the '80's, I'm told, by Mike's Miniature Motors. Only a handful were cast.

Thanks! Lights probably aren't legal, but I know for a fact having no mufflers is! -
This was done for GM by SMP for Chevrolet's 50th anniversary in 1961- in an agreement with GM the tooling was destroyed after the limited run of kits. Resin guys... if you ever track one of these down... pleeeze, pull a mold off it and repop it! The Chevy II four-banger I just built needs a home! I think it might make a neat little hot rod, and might be interesting enough to build box stock.
