  1. That's actually in the cards- didn't have one ready for the photo op, though.
  2. Second one's done. (You'll be seeing the first shortly enough.) http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=50425&pid=560856&st=0&#entry560856
  3. Basically it's just an in-progress project you can still cruise on weekends. Maybe one of these days it will be a full-blown lead sled, but for now it's just a beater you can take to the car shows. Highlights include the Rambler V8, open trunk filled with all sorts of trash, and its general crusty demeanor.
  4. Good point! I did set a couple of the old AMT trailers next to my Lonestar (still uncompleted) and even so, the '70's vintage stuff just somehow looked out of place with it.
  5. I've always wanted to stick a 5-speed in one just for a good time.
  6. I was toying with the idea of making the fins taller from the get-go, finally decided to give it a try. So far so good. Next up will be adding shrouded side pipes, and doing a bit more work on the front end. Kinda toying with the idea of a Beatnik Bandit bubble top just for giggles- it would almost look like a mini-Homer. Please let me know if there's a line I've crossed so I can keep on running right past it.
  7. The Hornet- striped ex-coupe of mine is inching ever closer to finish (should be in Under Glass tomorrow, if my luck holds...) and a few observations- 1. If you want to install a V8 engine, you will need to trim the battery tray back- I ended up trimming mine to about half its original width. This isn't so it will clear once assembled (the battery will fit) but so you can get the completed chassis with engine up into the body. 2. The decals lay down beautifully, with no setting solutions needed, but they like to hunker down and stay in place once off the backer- take your time, be careful, and apply them exactly where you want them! 3. Watch the mounting holes- particularly on the engine, and on the mirrors- the holes seem a bit undersized. 4. Chase out the wheel bosses by twisting a drill bit into them to clear out any plating residue before inserting the metal axle (rear) or plastic stubs (front). 5. On the other project (more on that later) I think cutting the rear window unit into its three separate panes will help the rear quarter glass fit better. 6. I can't get enough of this kit.
  8. I remember that one Andy.... and the correction in SAE because it was mis credited in the previous issue.
  9. Sometimes you've got to bleed for your art- hopefully everything else will turn out well.
  10. I'm pretty fond of that as well! I have noticed the opposite though- for a more common reissue, if the kit is coming back again, possibly with new or retooled parts, earlier versions of the kits seem to decrease in price a bit when news of the upcoming reissue gets out. That's the time when I like to strike.
  11. Won't mistake this one for any other Hornet model, that's for sure!
  12. FYI- Moebius has fixed the mold issue- so the mold lines on the body won't be as prominent. And Dave posted elsewhere on availability of corrected decals. Buying a couple more of these kits tomorrow!
  13. I do like Mr. Brownlee's idea for optional wheels, but even if not- I'm up for at least a couple- the Lonestar and Prostar would look pretty nekkid without a trailer to pull.
  14. Yeah- noticed he kinda disappeared for a while. Good to hear all is well, except for the tech side of things!
  15. Gotta say... REALLY dig the 'stealth' version.
  16. International mini-truck, anyone? Indy flavored A Roadster Chopped International Metro? Or a Sidewinder based International rpu? (Yeah, I really like Internationals.)
  17. Fine! I'll build it!
  18. Scott- I actually have a '65 Lincoln I've 'prepped for surgery' to make into something pretty close to your drawing! Mine might end up with an Allison W-24 though.
  19. For some reason, the word 'adorable' comes to mind. What scale is the kit?
  20. As long as it's destined for another Deutschwagen, I can live with that! The Allison would have been cool, but as it sits, I dig the way this one's going.
