As far as Revell kitting it? No. They've done not one, but two '70 'Cudas, and boned it epically both times. I'd like to see Round 2 have a go at it- even if all they do is manage a straight reissue of the MPC kit, if that is at all possible.

Wheelbase isn't too far off (1:1 is 124"), its the location of the skirt cut lines that's messed up. It'll be fixed on future runs, but it is weird that got through to the production kit.

All 22 of 'em... right here! http://public.fotki.com/ChuckMost/annual-portfolios/class-of-2011/

If it's the kind in the AMT kit, no airbag. The airbag wheels had a big, squarish hub, four short spokes. with the horn buttons on the top spokes. They might have been optional prior to '94, but none of the '92/3 wheels I've seen had an airbag.

Build count for 2011

Grand total is 22, and it doesn't look like I'm going to squeeze off one more by year's end. -
1997 Ford F150
Chuck Most replied to modelcarmaster's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If you wanted to go with lifted 4x4, you'd need to rob the 4wd widgets from the Lindberg kit's front end or dig up a solid axle and the spring setup of choice, depending on how extreme you wanted to go with it. -

As long as it's 1:8 scale, you would hear no complaints from me if such an animal were kitted. (I'd much rather see a 1:8 '55 though. ) -

Top 10 new/reissued kits for 2011

R&D did one years ago (mid '90's ?) but I think they are out of business. I've been seeing a few more '30/1 Model A pickup models popping up too- many of them appear to be the 1:16 Minicraft kit.
-
Good question- even the 1:32 schnap kit had a more realistic stance and tires. I will say that at least the tires on the '10 kits are an improvement, but what is with the continued ride-height bugaboos?

New Hot Rod Falcon from Trumpeter
Chuck Most replied to Greg Myers's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The ALF fire trucks were actually pretty good, and cost quite a bit more than $50. I really wonder sometimes how Trumpeter can do one subject or type of vehicle pretty well, then drop the ball on others. Now, having said that, I do plan to pick up a couple Falcons, and at least as many Rancheros. Yeah, the grille is wrong, and the body is a bit 'slab-sided'. But I have some pro-touring capers in mind for these, so a totally stock appearance isn't as important to me as it may be to some. I'm not as strict with 'accuracy' as some seem to be, but even to me, the Trumpeter kits do fall a bit short in that department, even by my standards. I also plan to put those oversized rear wheel tubs to good use! About the only thing stopping me from buying these is, yes, the price... the typical new Revell tool is more accurate and of higher quality, not to mention the parts breakdown is a bit more logical. But for some reason, the average Revell release is easlily half the cost of a Trumpeter kit. If this kit sold more in the neighborhood of $20, I'd already have a few of them in the stash. I'm not holding my breath to see them on clearance, but you might see a few of them on the Bay or at swap meets being offered at deep-discount prices by buyers who were dissapointed by the purchase and just want to be rid of them. -
'91 SHO.... Bullitt edition. All it needs now are some five-spokes. Off topic tip- if you own a '94-up F-Series or full size Bronc and want to model it, you can use the steering wheel from an AMT '91-up SHO. Not sure if they are the same wheel in 1:1, but in 1:25 it looks like the F-series airbag wheel. ALL the AMT kits have the '92/3 non-airbag wheel.

Right now just frost- never did get around to taking the Bullit out of the case and photographing it. Maybe today... Not much to write home about- just threw it together one weekend, didn't fix the ride height or anything- just kinda banged it together and called it a day. Kind of an emotional thing I guess... I came pretty close to buying an '08 Bullitt when the cars were new but (insert long boring story here) ended up not buying one and was elated when Revell kitted it.

Does look a bit light, although the workbench area looks pretty brightly lit. Were you using a flash when you took the photo? That could make the color appear even lighter in photos.

A MOST POST-APOCALYPSE 2012 TO YOU TOO

No- that's how the names came about. You have not been mislead as far as that goes!

Trees are for outdoors, and I already have porch lights... I'm ready to build somethin'!

Yeah, it's a Hemi- early style Chrysler. They probably dodged (ha ha) calling it a Hemi for trademark reasons.

Top 10 new/reissued kits for 2011
Chuck Most replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
OP said new/re-released kits for 2011- the 1:12 Mustang is a new for 2011 release. Mine are- 1. Moebius '53 Hudson Hornet- new release (If I could I'd list that as the first ten entries, THEN do the other ones....) 2. Revell '10 Mustang GT Coupe - new release 3. AMT '62 Ford Thunderbird - modified reissue 4. Revell '97 Ford F-150 Supercab Flareside - reissue 5. Moebius International Lonestar- new release 6. Monogram '58 Thunderbird - reissue 7. AMT White Road Boss (more because of the subject matter than the kit) reissue 8. Revell '48 Ford Coupe- new release 9. Lindberg Dodge Charger Police Car- modified reissue 10. Model King/Revell '50 Austin- reissue... and there's a chance that one might have come out in 2010... feel free to call me out on that one if I'm wrong. Best part is 2012 is looking even better! -
There is already a pretty well known vehicle with airless tires... http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/image/as15_88_11901.jpg

With the talk of scale wieght...
Chuck Most replied to JustBill's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I try not to worry about it much. I just figure if Chip Foose can rebuild a car bumper to bumper, rubber to roof in six days, I should be able to do the same in 1:25 in a similar time frame. Oddly... doesn't seem to always work that way. -
I'll be keeping an eye on that either way- I've got lowering the nose on the '06-style kits down pat, but I hear a bit more trimming and grinding is needed to perform this on the '10 kit. Bringing the rear end down seems pretty straightforward, I'm still kind of 'eyeballing' things up front to see how to make it workable.

Once again regarding his work schedule- Al doesn't update his site every time he has a new offering. It will be on there eventually- you might see the actual parts out and about before you see the pics on the site in some cases.
