  1. Told ya... In your hands it should be a marked improvement over most of the models built from this kit, at the very least! Fit of the nose pieces and wing are already worlds above what's possible by just gluing them on with this kit. If you really want to practice bodywork and parts fit, this might not be a bad kit to work on in that respect. As far as the bad kit sweepstakes? '67 GTO? Come on... the AMT '65 GTO is waaaaaay worse!
  2. The grille should be different as well- being a '52 it should have the triangluar feature in the center section- No... not at liberty to say how I secured a '52 grille and wheels.
  3. Or dig it a little larger and fill it with a Ferrari 400.
  4. Another thing about those photoetched hinges.... careful bending them, they are BRITTLE.
  5. Even if they had used the Lincoln, it was discontinued a year after the T-Bird, so that only would have given them one more year to get the Taurus approved for NASCAR.
  6. Only thing is- they look like the AMT Ramblur wheels, and those are kind of in a goofy size- I'm not sure you could find too many wheels that would work with those particular tires.
  7. Great lineup. Not big into modern NASCAR, but I do like the ones you completed this year. The Dodge 4x4 and T Sedan hot rod are just killer!
  8. You mean rivets, right? Still, which kit is the bigger nightmare? Yep, the '70 Cuda, as botched by Revell. TWICE!!!!
  9. Bill- I'm not aware of anyone who sells individual photoetched letters, but Al Raab at Ma's will do custom photoetch sets. I never quoted him for a price but I did ask him about it- he says supply a drawing/image four times larger than the actual etching and he can do it.
  10. Whe/ if that happens... wonder when they'll roll out a new 1:25 Challenger built on the new Cuda's platform, and 'reproportion' the body to suit...
  11. Just worked fine for me. I've had that same thing happen with Flickr, but never with Fotki or Photobucket.
  12. Premiere did a Corvair Rampside pickup kit when the 1:1s were new, but good luck finding one! (Yeah, I wouldn't mind one of those or a Greenbriar van either! )
  13. As far as Revell kitting it? No. They've done not one, but two '70 'Cudas, and boned it epically both times. I'd like to see Round 2 have a go at it- even if all they do is manage a straight reissue of the MPC kit, if that is at all possible.
  14. Wheelbase isn't too far off (1:1 is 124"), its the location of the skirt cut lines that's messed up. It'll be fixed on future runs, but it is weird that got through to the production kit.
  15. All 22 of 'em... right here! http://public.fotki.com/ChuckMost/annual-portfolios/class-of-2011/
  16. If it's the kind in the AMT kit, no airbag. The airbag wheels had a big, squarish hub, four short spokes. with the horn buttons on the top spokes. They might have been optional prior to '94, but none of the '92/3 wheels I've seen had an airbag.
  17. Grand total is 22, and it doesn't look like I'm going to squeeze off one more by year's end.
  18. If you wanted to go with lifted 4x4, you'd need to rob the 4wd widgets from the Lindberg kit's front end or dig up a solid axle and the spring setup of choice, depending on how extreme you wanted to go with it.
  19. As long as it's 1:8 scale, you would hear no complaints from me if such an animal were kitted. (I'd much rather see a 1:8 '55 though. )
  20. 1937 Studebaker Coupe Express (pickup in Studebaker parlance) Ford SVT Raptor First-gen ('61-71) IH Scout First gen ('66-77) Ford Bronco Bullet Nose Studebaker
  21. R&D did one years ago (mid '90's ?) but I think they are out of business. I've been seeing a few more '30/1 Model A pickup models popping up too- many of them appear to be the 1:16 Minicraft kit.
  22. Good question- even the 1:32 schnap kit had a more realistic stance and tires. I will say that at least the tires on the '10 kits are an improvement, but what is with the continued ride-height bugaboos?
  23. The ALF fire trucks were actually pretty good, and cost quite a bit more than $50. I really wonder sometimes how Trumpeter can do one subject or type of vehicle pretty well, then drop the ball on others. Now, having said that, I do plan to pick up a couple Falcons, and at least as many Rancheros. Yeah, the grille is wrong, and the body is a bit 'slab-sided'. But I have some pro-touring capers in mind for these, so a totally stock appearance isn't as important to me as it may be to some. I'm not as strict with 'accuracy' as some seem to be, but even to me, the Trumpeter kits do fall a bit short in that department, even by my standards. I also plan to put those oversized rear wheel tubs to good use! About the only thing stopping me from buying these is, yes, the price... the typical new Revell tool is more accurate and of higher quality, not to mention the parts breakdown is a bit more logical. But for some reason, the average Revell release is easlily half the cost of a Trumpeter kit. If this kit sold more in the neighborhood of $20, I'd already have a few of them in the stash. I'm not holding my breath to see them on clearance, but you might see a few of them on the Bay or at swap meets being offered at deep-discount prices by buyers who were dissapointed by the purchase and just want to be rid of them.
