How do I get the old format back
mountaindewd replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That is my biggest problem also. Gregg mentioned that new skins will be available eventually. That will allow us to customize the appearance of the forum to suit us as far as colors go. We'll just have to be patient until then. Les -
How do I get the old format back
mountaindewd replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hey guys, if you can hold out a little bit, it will get better. Just like a new car, there will be flaws to be worked out. Here is Gregg's post in the forum update thread. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=26079&view=findpost&p=245415 Les -
Gregg, To update my earlier post, I have spent some time on here today and found that it is a pretty nice setup. I had just jumped ahead of myself. The color is my only real issue, but will live with it for the time being. I never thought of seeing it from your POV(behind the scenes). Again, I appreciate the time and effort you and the others put into this site. Thanks!! A little notice to pass along to others: I noticed when replying to a post(quote), what can't be deleted from the quote in the reply text box can be tackled by posting your reply followed by editing it(quick edit)afterwards. That is how I deleted irrelevant items in Gregg's post.

Dave, You're not the first to notice this problem. It has been pointed out in the update thread. Les -
Well.........I can see what I type because the options box is lower in the text box. Still, it's not in it's right place. The text box is up too high covering up the main header on that page. The home page looks like one of those pages you get when you click a link and the site is gone having been replaced by the host(?)with a related links page. What was wrong with the other version? Not that I don't appreciate your time and effort, but, if it ain't broke......... I like the looks of the page when viewing the posts, though would prefer more vibrant colors rather than the pale/light ones. Also, when editing this post(quick edit), only part of the text was visible in the text box because the option box here was blocking the top of the text box. Furthermore, with the light colors, they are hard on the eyes when sitting here staring at the screen for a while. Darker colors would be much more pleasant and less blinding. It's almost like staring at a light bulb. Compare the colors on this site to the site linked below and see how your eyes feel. http://pete389.proboards.com/index.cgi?

Chariot,(Do you have a name?) Do you have other projects you have completed in the past? I would like to see more of your work. Maybe a photo site with your pics. The detail and craftsmanship you incorporate into your projects is spectacular. I am looking forward to following this. I feel the same as Ben, it is a shame to have this work covered with paint, But then, the Pierce Arrow was beautiful afterwards. Les

Real or model #117 FINISHED!

Mr. Harry, c'mon, a challenge please! -
Hey Gregg, Would like to have met ya there today, but you seemed a little busy with the camera, so I didn't bother you. Poor SAE guy had to request over the PA for people to bring their builds up to photograph. I thought that was funny. BTW, do you always walk around in your socks?

I don't know of any, but a sheet of styrene, #11 blade, some sandpaper or sanding sticks and BMF and you could make as many as you need.

Cool Hot Rod seen on Ebay
mountaindewd replied to Modelmartin's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I thought there were plenty of pics. George, I dunno if'n ya scrolled down fer 'nuf, but they there. Ya may take another gander at 'em. I would think that a builder of such a car would put more time in the body lines(i.e. doors and trunk) -

.......nor does the seat. I always felt that a hoodless ride should have power oozing out of the engine compartment. It just looks better when all of the space is filled...and then some. Too bad the tires wouldn't have a chance against that hemi although they look good on it. -

Well, I was out of work for almost 5 months and had to relocate to start another job. This being my third job in a year, I hope it lasts. Peter, You really got your s@^t together, well said!! I wish I could speak on such a topic with the passion you have exhibited. If only the rest of America felt the same as you. As far as Hummer goes, it was GM, Government Motors(formerly General Motors), that sold them, to an industrial machinery manufacturer in China. The buyer, Tengzhong, gets 80% and a private investor, Suolang Duoji, gets 20%. But, Suolang Duoji also owns a large stake in Tengzhong as well. It sold for $150 million, roughly 30% of the expected cost, though the deal has yet to be approved by either government. I wonder whose pockets got.......,I mean, what happened to the other 70% of the expected price, some 350 million dollars. On a better note, I entered my first contest today at Hobbytown USA in Kennesaw, Ga and got first place with my Peterbilt 378 tri drive. In memory of Paul Harvey.....Good Day!

Ricardo, Welcome. Hope to see some of your work. Your name sounds familiar. Have you been on other forums in the past? Did you build a early 50's GMC 900 series? I saw it on a lowboy being pulled by a mid 60's Chevy or GMC. I think I saw it on Truckmodeler.com. Les -

Plano model product has it for 1/24-5, but I think it would be small for 1/16. Here is a link to my 378 with their slotted mesh. They also have the oval mesh now. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...=19461&st=0 This is all I know of. -
Where are the Model Trucks?
mountaindewd replied to The Red Ranger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I emailed a Lindberg rep a couple years ago when the Ramunition and Raminator monster trucks came out asking if Lindberg had any plans of issueing a civilian version of the updated Ram these trucks were based on and he said they were but I haven't seen anything yet. Still patiently waiting. I would be giddy if a Ram 3500-5500 and F350-550 were issued. Seriously tickled pink I tell you. -

Jeep Cherokee VS BMW X5...on a Lift
mountaindewd replied to Joe Handley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
IIRC, The next episode of Wrecked involves a similar situation as the B'mer off the lift. I don't remember what the vehicle is, but, I wonder if it's the same. They described it as a near impossible recovery. Was this near Chicago?
