I guess the reason I mentioned the Comet in a Falcon Ranchero thread is because at one time I studied on taking one of these re-issued Ranchero kits and bashing it with a 1962 Comet front clip As I mentioned before, the Comet wagon was a Falcon wagon with a Comet front clip-BUT- in Modelsville the two plastic bodies will not line up. ( I studied on it) And I thought the Comet front clip should line up to the Ranchero body. Obviously they interchange in real life but not in plastic.

To cross reference the origins of the Comet-read the Wiki report of the Ford Falcon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Falcon_(North_America) Read the section called First Generation (1960-1963) I really don't want to start an argument over all of this, maybe it falls under the ill-fated topic that Harry P. started about "Scale Model Inaccuracies" and how some thing gets lost between the real cars and our models? when I put the AMT '67 Mustang chassis into the '61 Comet I had to cut it and add about an inch of length to get the proper wheel base. The Mustang in '67 was a larger car than the first generation Comet and you would think it would have to be shortened rather then lengthened. Although in the AMT/SMP days as with the real car world the Falcon and the Comet were both considered a compact while the Fairlane was considered a mid size. Also remember a few short years earlier the Fairlane was a full size car. I just want to have a healthy discussion about model cars and techniques. (period)

The 64 1/2 to 66 Mustang was the same unibody platform as was the Ford Falcon. Also the Econoline van and pick up shared the same basic platform. The first generation Mercury Comet wagon WAS a Ford Falcon wagon with a Comet front clip and different tail light treatment And as I mentioned earlier-the first Falcons and Comets would have had 13 inch/4 lug wheels-the Fairlane would have had 14 inch/5lug wheels

No, SIR 1960-1965 the Comet was based on the Ford Falcon platform (compact car) It wasn't until 1966-that the Comet shared the same chassis as the Ford Fairlane (mid-size car) But don't take my word for it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury_Comet The second sentence says Quote: The Comet was based on the compact Ford Falcon then later on the Ford Maverick. (Although I will agree that the 1966-1967 Comet was based on the Fairlane platform) Further down the Wikipedia page: 1964-65 The Comet was redesigned with a much more square shape, though it was STILL built on the the same unibody as the 1963. Here's a few shots of a 1963 Comet I was looking at a few months ago It is the same as the Falcon underneath right down to it's 4 lug wheels-the mid size Fairlane would have had 5 lug wheels.

There are a lot of great ideas being shared here, I'll throw one on the pile. I used the plastic globe from our bathroom night light to make the rear hood for a road grader I fabricated

The computer said the current temperature is -22* here right now, my outside thermometer says -24* The walls of our house are popping and banging like some one is throwing a football against the outside walls (hard to sleep thru that)

It is -10* right now, supposed to be -20* by daybreak We like to do this when it gets this cold, I like to add food color to the boiling water when I do it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62Hos_utIAs

Sort of apples and oranges, and seeing that this thread has languished I wanted to post a few pictures of an AMT 1961 Comet that I cut the hood open and added the chassis from an AMT 1967 Mustang along with a Ken Kitchen 170 straight 6, Being that the Comet and Falcon shared the same chassis it should be about the same to convert the same donor to a Falcon. I bought a couple of these reissued 1960 Rancheros, one just for a 1960 grill with clear head lights for this blue '61 Falcon In 1980 I bought this 1962 Falcon 4 dr. with 46 thousand miles for $75.00-drove it until 1986 when I sold it with almost 100 thousand miles. Bought the light blue '63 just for parts although it did run/drive very nice too. Just liked the black one better.

You are right about it being rather sad, but what is really sad is that you have a liar and thief in your midst-Not the type of society that I would want to be involved with or the type of person I would want as a friend. I don't hold it against your club as I'm sure this chiseler has done this to other people as well.

That's a nice looking police car. You did a good job on it even though I have never seen an Arizona police car myself. I was very happy when Hobby Heaven had those reproduced. Top Notch Building !

Don't feel like you're alone, Jonathan-I got ripped off by one of the "Proud Members' of the Moon Light Modelers group too. That was over two years ago.......I guess that liar must have needed it more than I did. I think he is proud to be a chiseler.

These wheels are GREAT ! I was lucky enough to buy two sets of Daniels 8 lug 4x4 wheels , besides the fact that they are very nicely cast , with little/no flash. The wheels are almost a snap fit into this set of American Satco Bridgestone 'Mud Dueler' tires He is also a great eBay seller, leaves feedback very quickly and ships fast- I would like to deal with him again soon.

Thanks for the positive comments and looking at the tractor. This started off as a part for another build but ended up being built as some thing else. I was trying to make an older style grill for a Jeep pick up but it didn't come out right. I used an MPC WW II Jeep kit as a donor. The hood of the tractor was cut down from the WW II Jeep, the front fenders were turned into the rear fenders of the tractor. So I decided to use the rest of the parted out kit to make this trailer for the project Also got the steering column problem worked out

Thanks for the comments on the boat model, It is still on the work bench. I have not been able to paint much because of the weather but have been building. Started working on a grill for the Jeep but it didn't work out as intended so it took a turn into some thing else What I was trying to build the grill to be what it turned into

If'n I had to guess, I'd say Bad Brad#2 was goofin. Being named the "Gratest" and being named the "Greatest" could very well mean two different things, I find Rush very grating...... I saw Rush on December 2, 1978 at Cobo Arena in Detroit, other than the fact that Golden Earring opened for them-that's about the worst concert I had/have ever been to. Growing up in Detroit during the 60's thru the 90's I remember listening to Motown while it was new and current, then came Funk, P-Funk and Punk-a-delic type LONG before Hip Hop or Rap, even though I didn't like it, I heard it every day no matter where I went. Now ever once in awhile I hear some thing from those old Funk days it takes me back and I enjoy the time trip back. (Not really the music but the time it represented to my child hood) I Like almost every genera of music but if I'm home alone I tend to listen to the Blue Grass channel on the satellite radio-although on cloudy days I can get a great rock channel from Appleton , WI called "The Rockin Apple"
