New Years Eve model plans?
von Zipper replied to ZTony8's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I always start off with the best intentions......... But end up indulging in my other favorite hobby. -
The first brand new car I bought was this 1986 Mustang with a 2.3 4-speed. (that's my ex-wife standing next to it-never looking better ) When it was 2 years old it burned up one of those modules too. A friend of mine was into those 2.3 engines and he knew right away what the problem was-same as mentioned above, I started carrying an extra in the glove box, like how I used to keep an extra ballast resister in the glove box when I drove a few mid '70s Chrysler products

Thanks for posting pictures of every ones Modelhaus scores. For some reason I can't use the quote function- but I really like that '68 Barracuda, John ! I've wanted to build one like the car in the movie "Gone Fishin" (Your 1;1 is really nice too) When I was 15 I wanted to buy a '67 Barracuda coupe with a slant 6 /three in da tree, the car was really clean but had a rod knock that was so bad you could dance to it. The guy wanted $75.00 for it but when I took my Dad to look at it, my Dad said "no way" because of the knock-back then a slant from a junk yard were dirt cheap-but the 'Old Man had the last word. I think the '67 coupe is going to be on my next order from Modelhaus.

Thanks for the nice comments on the 2 dr. sedan I built ! (Being a scale snob) It is the only choice for a 1/25 scale '53/'54 Chevy in plastic. I had a few of the older issued sedan delivery kits with opening doors back then but glued the doors shut-It was my only defense. But I'll be the first to say those kits are poorly done at best. The yellow sedan delivery pictured above had panel lines were so shallow-even after scribing them, after primer, paint and clear the panel lines were gone. The Model King 2 dr. body was molded in white but was almost see thru-maybe opaque would be the right word ? Even though those kits are rough as a cob of corn-I'm glad their still around.

Other than the body's the 53/54 sedan delivery and the 2 dr. sedan,( which I think depicts a Chevy 210-not a Bel Air) are the same kits. Over the years I've tried converting them a few times to stock form. The first sedan delivery I tried and gave up on. Then I got one of these Model King re-issued 2 dr. sedans Kit bashed it with an AMT '51 Chevy and for the most part it fit very well, the tail lights are not correct for the '53 or '54 (but closer to the '54) Although I used a Ken Kitchen Buick Straight 8 instead of the '51 Chevy Straight 6 I also have a re-issue sedan delivery and another AMT '51 Chevy donor to build the same way now that I've learned how the 2 dr. sedan went together.

Hey John/Fastback 340- What did you get from them ? I'd like to see what you got.

Your camper is looking great,-the model of your 1:1 truck is pretty cool too. I'm sorry I didn't comment on this before but just saw this for the first time but will be watching it from now on. I understand what you're saying about the hobby shop, the closest well stocked shop is 100 miles for me (one way) so I do most of my shopping on line and sent thru the mail. Here's a couple of sites that might help you out-They have a lot more listed than what you find in most hobby shops--> http://www.evergreenscalemodels.com/ http://www.plastruct.com/ Keep up the good work ! Just a thought-maybe there could be a Community Build for campers and R.V equipment ?

von Zipper replied to hobbybobby's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
Those Aurora kits are very cool ! Your detail work is outstanding !!! -
THANKS- I'm really glad you like the boat model. I've wanted to build a simple fishing boat like this for a long time. Since my last post I made the oar clamps and added grab bars from the WWII Jeep Also started fabricating the boat trailer, Thanks for looking in, I'll post more as it goes together.

60 Corvair 4 dr Gluebomb Restoration 12-19-13 Finished
von Zipper replied to Porscheman's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Being a 1960-It's an AMT/SMP kit. There would be both names on the original box. I've have an old glue bomb 1961 Corvair , got all the replacement parts from Modelhaus -even the rear splash pan. Had to order parts for a 1963 but as near as I can tell they are right for the earlier models also. -
Testing a bad engine computer, and its symptoms?
von Zipper replied to charlie8575's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Being a 20 year old car from the snow/rust belt it wouldn't hurt to take the negative cable apart at the engine block and wire brush the connections, from the engine block to the frame also. It may not fix the problem but can't hurt any thing either-I've seen bad ground wires do weird things. -
I was born and raised in Detroit, spent the first 32 years of my life there so any of these stories don't surprise me a bit- One of my favorite stories was when a friend of mine went on vacation and some crooks used an electric saw to cut the back out of his garage and took his Harley-the worse part was the crooks plugged their saw into my friends plug to run their saw, They cut his garage open, stole his bike AND used his own electricity to do it. But the funniest thing I've heard in a long time is that the Mayor of Traverse City got busted in Traverse City, Michigan for D.U.I. on Oct.23 of this year, was arrested and charged, then a few weeks later he was re-elected by the people of Traverse City for a third term. Last week he pled guilty and was placed on 1-1/2 years probation. It just so happens to be his second offence BTW. But I have to wonder how does a Mayor of a city like that over see the police and other city business when he's on 1-1/2 years of probation and enforce the laws fairly ? How would it be for the other people that have to do community service to have to pick up garbage on the expressway dressed in those orange jump suits next to the Mayor ? What do you think happened to the police officer that had the nerve to arrest the Mayor ? http://www.theoaklandpress.com/government-and-politics/20131105/traverse-city-mayor-wins-3rd-term-after-guilty-plea-to-dui The tribe has spoken......

Sorry about making multiple posts but I'm having a hard time posting pictures-Don't really know how I got the last one to show up- One thing that is needed to make the Shasta correct is the louvered windows

The trailer is listed on Modelhaus site in the Miscellaneous section for $68.00
-
YES-the trailer body is one piece, the floor and chassis are a separate piece. The body snaps on and off the chassis like a glove. There is no interior but I am sure an ambitious modeler could build and detail the inside. I took a few pictures of the body and chassis separated but can't post pictures right now for some reason ???

Picked up this 1969 Buick Wildcat off of eBay last week, got it today in the mail 10 minutes after that picture was taken the body/parts were in the stripper pond, looks like they used Testors spray paint with no primer so I expect it to clean up well. My Gramma had a brand new 1969 Wildcat just like this, hers was metallic brown with a tan interior and vinyl roof. 430 4 bbl. She had that car from 1969-74 when she got a new 1974 Buick LeSabre I remember that car like it was yesterday and want to build an exact replica of it.
