  1. After seeing how nice your mini 50 came out, I found two Baja Beast kits just for the mini bikes-I'm going to build one of the VWs and trade off the other.Keep up the good work, I'm looking forword to seeing what you do with the CT70.-Chris
  2. Thanks for posting your mini bikes, James ! and thanks for the information on where to find the CT70 in the 4x4 kit. Here's a couple of pictures of my 1;1- it's 40 years old and runs like a top. -Chris

  4. No matter what my name is or what you want to call me, Chuck I think I treated you pretty good ? -CHRIS
  5. Ya know, I'm not the type of guy that would call someone a liar....nor would I want any one to call me one either. My Dad worked at Ford/Rouge Plant in Dearborn for 35 years and in the same complex was the Mustang/Cougar assembly line....OH YEAH there were some 5.8 Mustangs that came out of there ( I saw them). In 1993 I tried to order a brand new Mustang Cobra from Riverside Ford on Jefferson Ave. downtown Detroit-That was the number one "Ford Motor Sport" dealer in south/east Michigan at the time-the sales man said to me "They will not sell any 5.8 Mustangs to the general public" that it was a special police package only. On a side note: I was on my way home from work one day in my '90 -5.0 and a brand new '92 or '93 Ford Ranger with Manuafacturers plates on it rolled up on me and spanked my Mustangs bottom !! After a few rounds of "getting it handed to me" we pulled into a gas station to talk-THAT brand new Ranger had a 5.8 and a 5spd. in it---Now I hardly doubt they sold any of them to the public either ? That guy worked at Ford Mo. Co. -Research and Development off of Southfield Rd. and Rotunda if you want to check. This is public info. here too- There were alot of Mustangs around that time, that rolled out of Dearborn with out any V.I.N #s at all-it was some kind of crime ring that some of the upper management came up with- until one of those guys tried to insure one that had a salvaged V.I.N. from another Mustang they had already totaled and paid off on-BUSTED !! But I've heard that had gone on for years before they got caught.
  6. In the 60s and 70s I used to see alot of Mercury pick up trucks around Detroit- they looked just like a Ford. The Mustangs that the Michigan State Police used in the early 90s had a 5.0 badge on the fender but some of those had 5.8s in them as well.
  7. In the early to mid 70s I used to go to a hobby shop in the Detroit area called "West Point Hobby" and every so offten an old man would come in with a big cardboard box full of loose Johan parts. There were bodys, interior tubs, bumper & grills ect. there was never enough to make a whole kit. The guy that owned the shop said they were seconds and flawed parts and would sell that stuff by the piece. I bought a '62 Dodge Dart body that was swirlled in red and blue plastic for a dollar. Looking back on it now- That might have been John Hanley himself that brought those boxs there ? Since then I have stripped the chrome from a few vintage Johan kits to find the same swirled colored plastic underneath.
  8. In May of 1990, I bought a new Mustang GT from "Bill Brown-Truck Town"> Ford dealership on Plymouth Rd. in Livonia MI It was Ultra Blue with silver panels on the bottom. It had a 5.0 w/5spd. rated at 225 hp. out of the box. Within a year and 5 thousand dollars later it was making WELL over 300 hp. The most costly up grade was the frame connectors to keep the body from twisting-the cheapest up grade was a few washers behind the throttle cable to get full travel out of the gas pedal. That Mustang could/would eat the SVO's and SC's lunch !! ...in it's class-the only thing that gave it a good run was an un-marked Dearborn Police 1992 Cougar with a 5.8... I gave it a good try until he turned those lights on !!
  9. ...And I would like them to sell for $25.00 also.......
  10. I would like to see the Revell 1/4 scale Chrysler Slant 6 re-popped.
  11. I saw an American Pickers show a few weeks ago and they went to this place- I've bought a few things from them over the years. It was good to see they are still around- be warned- the same song repeats over and over...and over....I think it's the theme song from "The Dating Game" ? Look for the model car kits.
  12. I like to use Future to install head lights and P/E parts.-Chris
  13. How about a article on "How to convince the other forum members that you're the BESTEST model builder ever-WITHOUT ever posting a picture" ...We'll show you how. *** Photo was quoted in sarcasm
  14. Your 1941 Plymouth would be 6volt-positive ground. -Chris
  15. Thanks for the great replys on the road grader. Used a rear seat from a Hogans Hero Jeep for the grader, and some other bits and pieces from my parts box. The scaper blade is a piece of 1/2 Evergreen tube cut at 60* at the end then cut down the middle.
  16. I used the gas tanks from a Lindberg L 700, the rest was made from Evergreen stock.
  17. When the "Rommels Rod" was re-issuded a couple of years ago, I had a project for the rear tracks. After that project was done I had the engine and front frame left over of what I would guess to be a '40ish Mercedes 540K. Added a transfer case from a '84 Fall Guy pick up. Found a cheap night light at a dollar store to use the shade for the hood, then found two Ertl 1/43 scale die cast farm tractors for the rear wheels and tires, a 1/64 scale New Holland die cast for the tires-the rear tires of the die cast but the front tires of the grader.I'm having a problem adding pictures with my text so pictures will follow-Chris
  18. So what's the verdict ??? Was a black interior offered on a 1962 Catalina ?-Chris
  19. I wonder how the Polar Lights GTO front clip would fit onto a '66 Chevelle wagon ? I went to High School with a kid that had a '64 Tempest wagon .-Chris
