That's the nicest build of that kit I've seen, I built both the WLA and the WLR many years ago. The WLR is the same bike/kit exept it has chrome parts included and no military stuff. I've been lucky and have been able to ride a bike like that a few times, It takes alot of getting used to with the hand shift and foot clutch-the first couple of times I rode it-I kept pulling the left handle bar lever thinking it was the clutch and it's really the front brake !! Besides the dash being a seperate piece-the "Fat Bob" tanks are two seperate tanks--the right side is for engine oil and the left side holds gasoline. Maybe you could tie a piece of thread onto the broken end of the chain and bring the end of the string into the trans sprocket area/ under the sprocket and in front of it, lay the string over the sprocket and the pull the thread down to tighten up the slack--then a drop of super glue to hold it in place ? Every thing looks "spot" on exept there's no puddle of oil under it ?? Here's a shot of a WLA at the Krause WW II museum ( notice the diaper under it)--->

Dragster front bicycle wheels and tires
von Zipper replied to aarondupont's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
When I built Grampa Munsters Drag-u-la , I went to the local hardware store and found rubber "O" rings in the plumbing department for the front tires, I think they were .30 cents each and looked better than the plastic tires they give you in the kit-----> -

All kidding aside, along time ago I was street racing on Telegraph Rd. in Detroit against a guy in an early '80 5.0 Mustang, when I looked over at him as he was inching past me, his engine compartment burst into flames- I hit the next turn around and went back. When he opened the hood the fire really took off ! I was on my way home from the store and had (4)--2 liter bottles of Coca-Cola in my car-I cracked the top off and stuck my finger in the bottle and shook it-and sprayed it on the fire-after that guy saw what I was doing, he grabbed a bottle and started doing it too ! It took 3 bottles and made a heck of a mess but his car didn't burn to the ground either-I learned a couple of lessons that day, besides that the soda pop would put out a fire->>that's why that kind of thing should'nt be done on the public streets and put other people in danger....... -

Bondo on resin or metal

I used J-B Weld to close the coin slot on this diecast '49 Oldsmobile and it worked great--> if you look at the J-B Weld with the magnifier-you will see little specks of metal in it and it's hard as a rock to sand but very work-able. -

"Lou-Lou the Giant" was cleared off last night, I have the core warmer plugged in-you can see the flaps on the grill are opened-that means the block is warm, usually the heat will keep the snow melted off the hood any way ? --> -

We got 18 inchs-NOT the worse I've seen by a long shot though, This was my porch this morning--> My wifes truck before and after the clean-up--> All-in-All, We have over 3 ft. on the ground right now--> ( Too deep for regular snowmobiles) -

Your J-10 looks cool in military dress ! wish I would have bought a few more of those Revell Jeep kits !! Some one told me they were molded in pink ? so I only grabbed one at Hobby Lobby when they were 1/2 off. I could'nt sell that Jeep with the plow for $750.00 the way it sat-took it to the scrap yard and got $1,200.00 for it. One of my friends called and said the snow was up to his knees--if you jump head first !!! -

Agreed times 2, those Jeeps are(were) great vehicles !! This was one of the best "trucks" I've owned, the body was so rusty the clutch linkage won't stay in place If it had been an automatic trans I'm sure it would still be running and pushing snow--> Poor 'ol Curly is dragging his belly already and it's just starting here---> This is the way our drive way looks right now-I'll post a picture of the same shot in 24 hours from now. We're supposed to get 18-24 inchs of snow tonight. But on the topic of snow,Jeeps and of course Model Cars (or trucks)----> -

Yeah, I feel bad for my friends in Chicago. I have enough meat for 6 or 7 Chicago style "Eye-talian beefs" in the freezer, so I'll throw a big 'ol log on the fire, maybe listen to a little Muddy Waters and some Buddy Guy and wait for the phone to start ringing. and it got me thinking of a cool vehicle to have in the snow--- I hope it's OK to still talk about models around here ? -

Why is every one hating on the trucks with plows now ??? That's how it is here too- "I'm the first one they call when they need some thing moved or they're snowed in" my truck has a 5.4 L with a 6speed stick and get 20-22 mpg when it's not working. Some times people need to go to the hospital-or have a house fire, maybe they need the police in the middle of the night ? A foot of snow ? We get 2ft. at a time on a regular basis...and as far as the "bozo" comment about the 4x4 with plows--I don't know about where you guys live, but when I have my orange flashes going-I have the right a way >>>>>and if the roads are that bad-people should stay off of them till the proper equipment has done the job. May, June, July, August, September, October....... I guess I'm silly....... -

Does any one remember the TV show called "Mr. Ed" ? that show was sponsored by the Studebaker Corporation from 1961-64, Wilber Post always drove Studebaker Larks and once in awhile he would haul supplys with a Champ pick up. I remember seeing an Avati on that show too.

I don't know what year this one is but it looks like the resin one in the above post-> that truck is a beauty in real life too.

Need help modifying a diecast

Good luck with your project, I've used the Aircraft stripper on some die cast kits from Testors and it took the paint off quick & easy-but after it's stripped, I took the parts to the local 1:1 collision shop and had them sand blasted to rough the metal suface so the primer/paint will have some thing to cling on to. The Dupli-Color primer is great - works great on plastic also.
