As for the carbon fiber, the only thing I have seen on the web that is bare CF is the front air dam/winglets and the spoiler/wing. Is there something else I have missed? Even under the hood everything is bare metal or painted. Also, please post some pics as I have an interest in this kit as it looks very interesting to me. Nic

Best resin Caster for a '59 Chevy sedan?
ScaleCentral replied to impcon's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
There is a caster, I think Hendricks, that has one. I have it set aside for the 1960 Daytona 500 winner. It's not entirely accurate for a stock version as the height of the roof is not entirely correct. There was also a caster that did a resin roof that you can graft onto the plastic kit. It's not for the faint of heart but it will provide an accurate replica. I can't remember offhand who that was. It is either the Modelhaus or Tom Coolidge or both. Nic -
Lol, I bought a RHD transkit just so I can do the Sebring winner. I guess I'm the oddball. If I can ever get my 1964 Dodge done, look for me to start a Ferrari. Nic
-
The LeMans winner from 1958 was not a pontoon. It was a flat sided version very similar to the pontoon. You can make it with the kit but it takes a lot of work. The Sebring winner was RHD, so I'm not sure what Hasegawa was thinking. Nic

Resin conversions by ScaleKraft

That I would like to see especially if you can cast more! Nic -
The C4RK will possibly be coming soon from Fisher. He has also redone this kit to include better tires, PE, and some body updates. Nic
-
That looks great! I love Fisher's kits. For those that are thinking about getting this kit, by all means do. The only thing really required is some decent PE skills due to the grills on the back. Also, be advised that Paul is out of the blue arrow at the front of the windshield area. He provides templates for a mask though and it's not that hard to do. All of his kits are awesome to build. LMP1 and LMP2 prototype kits?
ScaleCentral replied to FORDSVTPARTS's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That wasn't Black Box. That was Quik Skins. Black Box did the flying Mercedes GT1. Nic -
Too bad Randy doesn't sell them any more. I was wanting a set of the minilites, 5 spoke mags, and the lotus tires. Nic

Coming soon from Missing Link .. 78 LTD Sedan
ScaleCentral replied to SteveG's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I am working on a new website for them. I wish I had it up now, but life got in the way over the last couple of weeks. Hopefully by the end of next week, Kevin and I will have it rolling. Nic -
It takes a lot of time and effort to update sites. If you don't have someone helping, it's almost not worth the time. I for one would rather have the casters wfforts on new stuff. I'm willing to help just about anyone get started out there. I'm helping someone now as a matter of fact. I would suggest being more positive than negative. Nic

Dave, Dave, Dave.... I'm already behind ordering stuff from you. Whatever am I going to do... Nic -
That looks awesome. This will be one I have to watch! Nic

www.stradasports.com and I think www.mshobbies.com has those wheels. Definitely get them as they will improve the look of the model. Nic

I managed to find some decals I need of his. I really need to get #197 Dean Van Lines Indy #29. I will try and drop him a letter in the mail with some money to hopefully entice him. Nic

Is Fred still doing business or does anyone live close enough to him or have a way of contacting him other than snail mail? I'd like to get some of his older sheets. Nic

Porsche 956 (1/8 Update - Engine / Interior)
ScaleCentral replied to hot-wheels's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I think Micro Mark has a kit for something like $130, but I have yet to see anyone do anything with one yet. I think they have all the chemicals as well as sheets to do this. I remember that they or someone out there even had rubber backed sheets for those that don't want "trees" on their PE albeit more expensive. Nic -
Porsche 956 (1/8 Update - Engine / Interior)
ScaleCentral replied to hot-wheels's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Here's an older article from FSM on how to do it. 1st Page 2nd Page 3rd Page 4th Page Principles have not changed, but some of the techniques may have. You can probably use an inkjet printer with transparencies instead of getting negatives or positives. A lot of the chemicals can easily be found online or at some older film places. I am hoping to try this myself soon. I'm trying to learn a few programs. Nic -
1/25 Revell '72 Hurst/Olds Cutlass Kit
ScaleCentral replied to W-Machine's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I for one will get one. I've been wanting to do the 1972 Indy Pace car for some time (I'm a little partial to the winner, lol). It doesn't matter to me whether it is a convertible or hardtop as they had both in pace car trim. I'm very happy to see a kit that was once in resin come to life in plastic. I almost bought the Modelhaus version earlier this year. Nic -
Porsche 956 (1/8 Update - Engine / Interior)
ScaleCentral replied to hot-wheels's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The 956 has the short wheelbase. The 956 started out in 1982 with a mechanical fuel injection. In 1983 they developed electronic fuel injection and started working on developing the short track car (shovel nose). In 1984, they introduced the 962 for IMSA competition. IMSA rules stated the driver's feet must be behind the front axle centerline, so Porsche added 6 inches to the wheelbase without adding to the overall length. Porsche developed the 962 into a single turbo version for the IMSA version and a dual turbo for the European series. Overall the 956 lasted until 1986 winning LeMans in 1982, 1983 (both Rothmans), 1984, 1985 (both Team Joest NewMan). The 962 won Lemans in 1986, 1987 (both Rothmans again), and 1994 (FATurbo Express). The 956 and 962 won several races in the US and Europe including the 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Daytona. Outside the Audi and it's derivatives, the 956/962 has been the most successful line of cars at LeMans. Nic -
More Ford Sedans .... 72 Custom 4DR
ScaleCentral replied to SteveG's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Super simple, but super nice. This would make a great fast build for anyone. Hopefully I can get one for this winter. Nic -
Very nice. I have this on my massive to do list. I wonder if they corrected the exhaust, intake issue when they did this. I've never looked that close at the kit. If they did, I need to make several copies of the engine, lol. Can't wait to see this done. I always liked the torpedo Indy cars. Nic
