  1. Here are a few picks of my recent Ferrari build. What did I learn from this build. I now hate Yellow paint. Stripped back to primer 3 times because of little specks of black getting in the paint. Ended up building a new paint booth. The colour is Pearl Yellow with a pearl top coat. Enjoy Danger
  2. Evil Iron Trike. Built slowly over the past year. The original paint scheme was changed and repainted 95% Gloss Black with 5% Gun Metal. All the chrome was removed and 6 different Alclad paints were used. The forks are brass rod, as are the rear struts. The halbred is real wood with red wire as wrapping. Handle bars were cut off and rotated about 45 degrees. Gaffers tape for the grips Enjoy Danger
  3. The Tamiya lids can be used to hold all sorts of bottles. In addition to the uses above they also fit Alclad bottles and Microscale bottles (MicroSol, MicroSet). Danger
  4. It's a great kit of a great car. Here is a couple of shots of the engine area and the completed model. And a link to the build on my site. http://dangervideo.smugmug.com/Models/Lamborghini/10030308_5Szm35 Danger
  5. Bob, My genre is American muscle, exotics and bikes. Danger
  6. I will be going again this year. Save one of those thophies for me. I wish someone official would take pics and send them to the mags. I've never seen coverage of this show in the mags. I offered a few years ago to bring my portable photo studio but was told someone already does this. Danger
  7. India ink is already fairly thin. I have used India ink in the past and agree with the 50/50 mix for a wash. Danger
  8. Windsor is a little too far for me. It would be about 4 hours each way. Danger
  9. Just a quick reminder that the next meeting is on Wed July 20th. Meetings are Every 3rd Wednesday of the Month, and are held at Dailey Hobbies 185 Thickson Road North Whitby, Ontario Phone: 905-404-2100 6:30PM-9PM ish New members are always welcome. Bring a recent build, wip or just yourself.
  10. Here's something I haven't seen before. Last night I decanted a can of Testor Boyd'd Enamel Aluma Yellow. My method is to use a a short straw attached with some blue poster tack. I find this only takes a minute or two to setup. After decanting I usually set a toothpick in the paint for 30 minutes to speed up the degaussing. Last night I didn't have time, so after about 15 minutes I put the cap back on the bottle. When I went to paint this morning the paint looked funny. Ususlly the colour is on the bottom of the jar with the clear carrier on top. This time the carrier solution was discoloured. Opened the cap to discover the foam cap liner MELTED into the paint. Never heard of this before, and will never put the cap back on until the excess gas has bubbled out. Now I need to go find some more paint. Danger
  11. My current home made paint booth is under powered and has several air leaks. I am using a range hood unit that only pulls about 175 cfm. I recently purchased a new Dayton blower (1TDR7) rated for 485cfm. I plan on building a new bottom backdraft booth from scratch. There will be a plenum area on the back of the booth. My concern is where and how to mount the blower. Should the whole blower be in this space or should it be mounted on the outside (top) with a whole cut for the inlet? What wuold be a good material to use as a seal around any hole I cut/ Any pictures or diagrams would be very helpful in my design. Thanks Danger
  12. My choice is not a chase scene from a traditonal movie, but the 9 minute classic C'etait Un Rendezvous from French director Claude Leliuch. A camera was strapped to the front bumper of an unknown car and then driven at high speeds through the Paris streets early one morning. No edits or cuts during the nine minutes. The streets were not blocked off and no permits were issued to allow him th film. The drive was highly illegal and dangerous. Search youtube for Rendezvous Danger
  13. The more the merrier. I'll be heading there directly fromwork. Hope to be there around 6:30. Danger
  14. This will be only the second meeting of this club. Bring a work in progress, maybe a recently finished kit or just yourself. Just be prepared to talk models without any politics. Danger
  15. I highly recommend foam mats for flooring in the basement. When I was setting up my mancave we did the entire area with the economy foam mats from www.greatmats.com. They are a half inch thick and can be put on top of the concrete with no prep. They interlock together. About $5/tile, each tile is 24"x24". I did need to add a floor mat for the office chair to be able to roll around. Any parts dropped to the floor are easily found. This is the best solution to all the issues we have in our hobby rooms/mancaves. Danger
  16. Is anyone aware of a plastic or resin kit of the AMX/3? This is a great looking car that never made it past the prototype stage. Thanks Danger
  17. I too hope Randy does a session or two on casting. I have never cast as I feel it is above my skill level and don't want to waste money learning by trial and error. I think in time he'll show us how. I am looking forward to learning and sharing tips, telling stories and showing off wips with my fellow area builders. Danger
