I love the displays from Scalemotor Sports, especially the x-frame version. I have three that I use when I go to shows. The x-frame allows you to alter how the mirror and display glass is setup. Either leave the mirror flat or angle it, while also being able to alter how the car sites on the display. Danger

Aluminum Printing Plate Source?
Danger replied to bigfatforty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I also might be interested in some printing plates. I've used them in the past for many things around the house and modeling. I think I have one left. 10 or 12 thou thick, 20x30? could go bigger. Hell, I used to work as a Platemaker in Pickering. Danger -
What's the latest Revell North America News
Danger replied to Phildaupho's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
They may want to communicate with American modelers, but they are not doing anything for the Canadian modelers! From what I have heard, not a single 68 Chevelle kit was sent to Canadian disty's. I support my local hobby shop and prefer buying from him and not ordering through American e-stores. Danger -
Another question regarding this technique, how close do you trim the BMF around the emblem? Is each letter separately foiled and trimmed square or around the contours of each letter? Danger

Help finishing my first spray booth
Danger replied to dawgvet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I painted mine with a white Tremclad paint. Keeps the inside of the booth nice and bright. Fairly easy to clean up. And if it gets too dirty with overspray, just paint another coat. Danger -
Recommended Handle for #11 blades
Danger replied to Bernard Kron's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I do the same as JC above. Various colored handles have different blades. My red handle always has the sharpest blade for foil work. Also because it is most likely to make me bleed. The hex nut on the end limits the ability of the knife rolling off the table/work bench. Danger -
Tamiya Instructions???
Danger replied to Danger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks Fumi. I always forget about the japanese websites. Danger -
I recently purchased the Tamiya Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird kit at a show. I didn't notice at the time but the instructions were missing. Tamiya used to have instruction sheets available for download from their website. It seems like the website has been updated and the instructions (manuals) are no longer available. Does anyone know if there is a website with the instructions archived? Thanks Danger

I haven't posted any finished builds for a while. Here are 2 Lamborghini Murcielago's I finished a couple of months ago. They are the same kit, just done differently The black one is Tamiya Semi'gloss black with lots of photo-etch using the Hobby Design detail up kit. Also used the Studio 27 carbon fiber decals and added additional carbon fiber decals from Scale Motorsports. The orange car is actually Alclad Candy Golden Yellow over their silver base. This model is done box stock. Sorry for the dust. Danger

Canadian Hobby Shops
Danger replied to Evil Appetite's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You could try Hornet Hobbies in Toronto. They mention on their website that they will do mail orders if contacted directly. http://www.hornethobbies.com/contact-us Another Canadian store is Elm City Hobbies in New Brunswick. http://www.elmcityhobbies.com/shop/ -

Tamiya Instructions - Need Help for OOB Class
Danger replied to Danger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The kit is the Tamiya 300SL Gullwing. BigTallDad, I forgot to take the instruction sheet when I left the show and have therefore lost it. -
Hey, I was stupid. I was at a show this past weekend and I forgot my Tamiya instruction sheet for my Out of Box entry. I have another show this coming weekend. Does anyone know where I can download a copy? I can order a new sheet form Tamiya, but it would take too long? Help! Danger https://dangervideo.smugmug.com/Models

Harley Fat Boy Lo
Danger replied to Danger's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
The frame is strong and supports the bike quite well. No sag at all. https://dangervideo.smugmug.com/Models/Bikes/ Danger -
As promised here is my version of Aoshima's Sesto Elemento. The colour is Anthracite Grey Metallic over a black base. Rims and Metallic Black. I also used Aoshima's detail-up kit which added photoetch rotors, seat belts, valve covers, emblems, screens, etc. https://dangervideo.smugmug.com/Models/Lamborghini/ Danger

This Tamiya 1:6 scale Harley Fat Boy Lo is a beast to build. And I loved every minute! The model is box stock and was repainted 3 times as the flame job I tried to do twice, looked like worms and not flames. I think I like this all black version better. This kit is a marvel as many items work. Wheels rotate, front and rear shocks, brake and shifter pedals, clutch and brake levers, starter switch turns and even the mirrors are fully poseable. I also used the detail-up kit which added metal rotors and mufflers. Danger

Here are the pics again. Not sure why they were deleted as they were uploaded to the forum. You can also click on my smugmug website below and look under German cars to see the pics. All the openings parts fit very well. I even sanded the edges of the doors and hood to create a little room for paint buildup, but it wasn't necessary. This was a gorgeous kit to build. Great detail and the parts fit together perfectly. One of my favourite cars of all time. Danger https://dangervideo.smugmug.com/Models

Merkur, the red is just Tamiya acrylic red. nothing too special. Gluebomb, the hubs were masked off with Micro Mask from Microscale. It's a medium thick liquid that was carefully painted on and then removed after painting the Aluminium. Danger https://dangervideo.smugmug.com/Models

And here is another build from 2016, the Tamiya 300SL Gullwing. Built box stock with a TS-17 Gloss Aluminum exterior and red interior. Everything works on the car. Wheels rotate and steering works. hood and doors fully open. I also dipped the clear bottom in Future. This made the frosted bottom much cleared and you can see the under-carriage details. I wish I had more pics of it, but i'll have to wait for a decent day outside. Danger https://dangervideo.smugmug.com/Models

Your Rarest Built Kit.
Danger replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Although it doesn't have 4 wheels I believe this qualifies as a rare, built kit. The Tom Daniels kit Devil Chopper. Originally from 1971 and I don't believe it was ever re-issued. I paid $100 for it at a show and within a few minutes other people were trying to buy from me for double what I paid. Danger
