Has anyone built the Mark IV from Union Model Company? It's in my stash and looks very detailed but I've never seen one built. Boththe rear deck and the hood are hinged. Full engine. Danger

How many of you participate in contests ?
Danger replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I participate in a couple of local contests each year. I don't build for the contests. I use the contests as a showcase to show what I have built over the previous year. I only get 4-6 builds complete each year and I find it enjoyable to showcase them. Danger -

Paint Strippers - What to Use?
Danger replied to pbj59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks all. Two bottles of 'fresh' brake fluid in an air tight container took almost 2 weeks to remove 95% of the paint. I will say the Alclad candy laid down and looked great before I had to strip it off. Danger -
Paint Strippers - What to Use?
Danger replied to pbj59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I slightly screwed up a paint job where I was using the Alclad Candy paints and clear. I have tried to strip the paint using all three of my usual paint stripping options. I have tried in order: Easy-Off (yellow lid) Brake Fluid dot-3 Castrol superclean degreaser. Brake fluid again Easy-Off again. All these were left on for at leat 24 hours each. Scrubbed with a toothbrush. Any ideas or solutions? Danger -
Yea!!! I called the LHS and he is picking them up today from his Distributor. I'll be picking up at least 1 on my way home after work. Danger

Better chassis for the MPC Volare?
Danger replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Here's a link to my build-up of the 77 Road Runner. http://dangervideo.smugmug.com/Models/Road-Runner/10047876_PS3jn2 The decals in my kit were destroyed but thankfully I was able to get some from Keith Marks. Danger -
And here we are mid-July and still no word when this model is being released. The Moebius website advertises that there is a build-up article in a sci-fi mag, but nothing on a release date. I want my Tumbler! Danger

The movement of airflow is measured by the size of the openings the air flows through, not the size of the box. With the closed system the only incoming air is through the airbrush. He doesn't have an opening of 2x3 ft. I too have read Klaus' website and built 2 of my own paint booths. All of his examples show the incopming air coming through the large open front. As long as the air is being sucked out as fast as it is entering, he should be good. I would highly recommend either a larger smooth hose or a shorter run to increase efficiency. Danger

Getting My Fix, Store or E-bay ?
Danger replied to Chris White's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Chris, Where in the Toronto area are you? There are model stores in the West end, Central and East end. If Panther is that far away, I am guessing you are in the East end. Check out Dailey Hobbies in Whitby, Wheels & Wings on the Danforth. Danger -
Skip, thanks for that link. It provided pics of areas I haven't been able to find. Perfect timing too. Danger

Has anyone seen or heard any recent information on the release of the Tumbler? In the Fall I heard it was pushed back to Spring 2013. But nothing since. Danger

Camaro is American again
Danger replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Harry, reading between the lines it sounded like you were gloating a little bit about the production moving to the USA. Would you post the same article if the production was moving from New Jersey to Ohio? I don't think so. -
Camaro is American again
Danger replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I too would like to know why Harry thinks it's good that the Camaro "will once again be built right here in the good old U.S. of A." I live in the area where these cars are built in Canada and several friends are will be losing their jobs due to the production shift. So Harry, Do you like putting Canadians out of work? -
I have painted wood grain on interiors in the past. I use Tamiya acrylic bottle paint. I lay down a base color of Dark Yellow. I then use Flat Brown and dry brush streaks to represent the darker grain. I let dry for a day or 2 then shoot Clear Orange through my airbrush over the entire surface. Then i hit it with the canned Tamiya TS-13 (Gloss coat). Lastly a very thin dark brown wash blends everything together. Sorry no pics. Danger

I've never heard of Hydro Graphics. What do they look like and what makes them special? Decals for Firearms? Danger

And Windows 8 when it launches next week is better than both Droid and Apple. Especially on a tablet! Danger

Come to the Group 25 Model Car Show in Toronto on Sat. Sept. 22!
Danger replied to hct728(Bob)'s topic in Contests and Shows
I'll be there bringing the 6 models i've completed since last years show. I may even get another finished before the show. I hope parking isn't an issue again this year. Danger -
Justin, I used Tamiya masking tape to outline the stinger stripe then cut a thin strip to create the gap between. The tape was burnished down using a toothpick then a used Tamiya Acrylic clear paint i sealed the edge of the tape. This should prevent any paint bleeding under the tape. The Tamiya tape shouldn't pull up any paint. Danger

Terry, I was gonna use some thin silver hard wire as the trim. But I couldn't get the bends right and I was concerned about glueing it in place and not having the glue show. There are a couple of local shows coming up and I will be entering it. I may try again after I show it. Danger

The roof was completed by using the "Vinyl Top Kit - Black" from Model Car Garage. The sku number is 713. It only costs $6.00 and there seems to be enough in each kit to do 2 cars. This was my first time using the kit and it was easy to use. Danger
