  1. Looks a great start!
  2. Thank you all!!! Really appreciate all the comments! I used a piece of thin cardboard, with a exacto I made the grain, you don't need to push a lot, because you can cut all the cardboard and made too deep grain. Try a few times just for find the grain you like. After that I paint it, if I remember correctly I used a Duplicolor light brown. A nice coat, and let it dry overnight. After I start to make some wash with acrylic paint, in this case was a dark brown. Also here you need to try a few times until you find the nice combination of wood grain. About the dark brown, I used also a Testor, covered all the piece and after wipe it down with a piece of napkin, so the clear brown show up and make the wood grain. It is kind of messy, and sometime it is difficult to find the right moment to wipe. Take a lot of practice like everything... About the MCM issue, I don't know who told to write contact paper, because for sure on the form a the model show I did not write it. oh well...
  3. Very nice, what kind of green is it?
  4. Last year I replace the battery on my Cherokee XJ, after 10years!!! Pretty amazing!
  5. I know that scare me too. But maybe I can tell to wait me to open it. So I can remove all without damage the model.
  6. Thank you both!!! Ha ha Vantastic, great one Joker!
  7. I bought it at the swap meet time ago. For that reason I call all this project "a the swap meet with the van"... There are two on ebay for 9.99 plus 7.XX of shipping, George 53 said that you can find them also on squadron.com for $4.95. There is a model show the first week of May, if I go, I will look a them and PM you right away if I find something. @Dig, thank you!

  11. Nice! Thank you for posting it!
  12. But they can scan a metal toolbox? Probably they need to open it and remove the model. No issue with that, probably I should bring with me some picture of the model during the build, so they can see the metal parts on it.
  13. I flew different times with models, 1/25 cars, or smaller scale, but packed in cardboard boxes inside the luggage, and no problem with that, my issue is that this model is pretty big, and the only box I found for it is a metal container (toolbox), that I need to find out if it is ok to have it on the airplane.
  14. @Cranky, the problem is that I couldn't find a plastic box for it. The model is pretty big, it is long 14inches and wide 7. I search everywhere for boxes, but with no luck. I found plastic tool boxes, but they were out of the carry on luggage measurement. @Futurabat, Probably is better contact the flight company and ask them. I don't want have "surprise" a the airport. Thanks!
  15. I need to fly wit a 1/24 model truck, and I couldn't find a safe box for it, so I think to use a metal toolbox, that is a good size for the model and on the 45" limit to a carry on luggage. I will remove all the inside, and put the model in it, using polystyrene for keep it in place. The toolbox (with tools) are banned, but in my case I will use it only as metal container with no tools in it. There are that you know some issue to have a metal container as carry on luggage in the airplane? Because on the flight company and TSA website I cannot find any specification about the luggage material.
  16. Pretty nice! I think, I can afford a kit.

  23. Thank you all for comment and looking! @Cherokeered, The bike is a Heller Kit, here the link of the one in the van. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=56882&hl=%2Bhonda+%2Bnsr&fromsearch=1 Nice and fun kit to build, only 34 parts, and also have a driver. They are pretty cheap, I think I paid mine $5 last year. @kruleworld, Diecast in general you can find a lot more bikes in this scale. There are some nice import bike on ebay, that they sell overseas. Very nice detail too. @Diggersrule, WOW!!! Thanks! If you want I can take a picture in high resolution. Charlie8575, At least they are not 26...
