I was going to go to Wheels Day, too. Luckily I saw the FB post about the showground being a lake, so I stayed at home in the dry and did some kit building.

They do look like a bit of a challenge, those Bentleys.

There's a little cobbled street, near Baker St tube station. The original Bentley motor car was born there.

Blue plaque on the wall says so.

As I recall, the Steed Bentley was a non-blower Speed Six.

I looked at the post but didn't see anything specific about panel lines or I just missed it, too the image is no longer available so I couldn't see what the problem is. Guess I'll find out when I get to that part of the build.

In the kit, there is a distinct panel line horizontally where the upper body joins the lower body. No such line on the 1:1.

  3. You could probably even build the Tom Mix Cord using the 1/12 AMT kit, which was my plan.  Though it’s a 2-seater, it shouldn’t be too hard to adapt to a cabriolet with a back seat and smaller trunk lid (they have the same wheelbase).

Your model with the new number plate UU5872 looks really good, and is very nicely finished. Really like the cord grip detailing on the steering wheel and the real leather bonnet (hood) straps. I have built one of the older kits with the number plate UR6571 on it.  Why Airfix only re tooled the number plate on this last release is a bit of a mystery to me.

The most glaring thing wrong with the kit is the position of the Winged B badge on the radiator shell that has never been sorted out, despite a number of re releases over the years. It is far too low on the kit item. Look at pictures on the web to see what I mean, as the car is now owned by Ralph Lauren.  Airfix had full access to the original car when it was owned by Neil Corner, before it went to Tony Bamford, the boss of JCB. As the part is plated, many model makers are unable to correct it unfortunately.

What we know to begin with is that the original kit and registration number are based on a car currently owned by Ralph Lauren. When this version of the kit with new registration plate came out, I contacted Hornby/Airfix to see what was different.  They e-mailed me that the only difference is the registration number change, which was dictated by a Bentley executive who owns that number for his car.

Sure you sent me a picture of the same car and the information that it is a Sunbeam Tiger

I also told you it was a 1967 Sunbeam Tiger Mk 1A. This can be identified by the square bottom door corners, unfilled body seams and original grille bar.

This illustrates perfectly why I prefer the photo boxes even though they aren't as pretty as the painted ones.   At least you see whar you're getting, and in cases like this, what to avoid.

Totally agree.  (Hmm. Seems that quoted replies no longer show the accompanying images)
