Posting photos... and taking the heat...
caine440 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hello While I can be my own worst critic, anytime you post on the web you need to have a thick skin. People can be very brave from the safety of thier keyboards, but most often they are just trying to help. I had a phone call in which a person who had seen one of my posts and pointed out 2 errors on the model that were easy fixes, I had not noticed and he was right and now I am taking care of the little issues. I look at sites like this as a resource tool to tap into the thoughts and skills of those more talented then myself. Simple rule for me when dealing with the web is try not to take anything personal. Have a Great Day. -
Thanks I know what you mean about your 71 Charger. I had a 70 440+6bbl Roadrunner and a 73 340 Challenger. Man, I miss those cars.

Good stuff! Thanks

I love them both. Hoping when things turn around economically, to look for a 6 speed R/T. I think even my wife likes the idea

Hello I always liked the Rod Shop Dodge cars. I have fond memories of them at both the Springnationals and the US nationals. I used photos off the web and from my old photos as a guide. I believe I have a photo of the the only husband vs wife final when he faced off against Linda's Dodge Coronet Wagon. The kit was a AMT 71 charger with rims and tires from a Sox & Martin GTX. The decals were off ebay. I am thinking down the road sometime of doing the white hemi charger. Would love to find a resin body to do the wagon but have never seen one on the web anywhere. Have a Great day Caine440

The clear head lights sound interesting. I see in some racing photos the head lights have a gold tint to them. I used bare metal foil with a light coat of gold paint to try and get the look right but I see in my photos the gold is not showing up.

Hello This thing has way to much aftermarket parts as I got a little carried away with all the cool stuff out on the web now that we did not have in my younger dayz. The motor is Ross Gibson, the rear tires which I think real look good are Reliable Resin, the hood Bandit resin, decals by Slixx and the wiring and rims from scale modeling by Chris. The bumpers will be from modelhaus. The kit was the 1974 Barracuda street machine I found that was partial built up on ebay. Tore it down and used it for this. Thanks

Very Very Nice ! I am thinking down the road to do a simple copy of the Charger used on the TV show Burn Notice. Caine 440 -
Hello Here are the projects now eating up my free time. If anyone would know where I can find decals for the Landy Challenger I would love to get a set. I emailed Slixx and they said they will have them this fall, but I hate waiting Thanks

Hello I have put more time on the details on this one. And put the internet to good use. Thanks to Don at Reliable Resin, Ross Gibson engines, scale modeling by Chris, Slixx decals, Bandit resin and detail masters.com, I think I have invested as much in this model as the car I drive It still as a long way to go but so far I am happy with it. I am a huge fan of the early days of Pro Stock and the 60s and 70s MoPars. Thanks!

Hello I was working on this one at the same time I was building the Landy Charger. I know I made at least 4 mistakes on it now in hindsight. It has the wrong hood, I should have filled in the door scallops, it should be a 383 (it is a 440) and I put the drivers name in the wrong spot on the roof instead of below the window on the door. I am working on a Motown Missle Cuda and am spending more time looking at the photos to try and get it closer to the real thing. Thanks

Here is a second photo. Learning how to use photobucket took as long as it did to build the model. I still need to work on the front grill as it does not fit just right.

Hello this is my first attempt at posting a photo. It is also my first build in over 15 years. I was not sure the old eyes and hands could still work on the small parts Caine 440

Is there a good way to paint molded-in lights?
caine440 replied to mr moto's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Wow The printed head lights look great. Can I ask how you did that? Did you print them on to decal paper? Simply a great idea. Caine 440 -
Thanks for the great ideas! Caine440

Hello I am trying to mask off a Dick Landy 1972 Dodge Challenger Pro Stocker and am having a tough time getting the curves to look right. Is there a trim able masking like contact paper out there that works? I bought some vinyl paper with an adhesive backing but do not think it will give a clean paint line. Thanks Caine 440

Thanks for the info.

I ended up using a chassis from a revell pro street Beretta for the one I have. May I ask what you used ? I really like the look of it. Caine 440

Many Thanks Very nice work on the Daytona. Caine440

Hello New here, and was wondering if anyone offers decals to match the Daytona, Avenger, or Stratus that Darrell Alderman drove before his retirement. I made a Daytona and fudged the decals from a Bob Glidden kit to try and make it look right. I am currently working on a Landy 1972 Challenger, Motown Missile 72 Cuda and a 72 Sox & Martin Duster and have had no trouble finding decals for these kits. Thanks! Caine 440
