Do you use a clear coat ? If so do you polish the clear or the paint or both? Sorry for the dumb questions.

Future....prior to or after decaling?
caine440 replied to charlzrocks's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Hello All I just started playing with spraying future. One of the bodies looked awful at first and I followed some advice I read here and just left it alone and went to bed. In the morning it looked darn good, everything had leveled out and the foggy looking haze was gone. The other thing I found and other clears may also do this. I messed up and used CA glue to install the windows on a kit. The next day the rear window was fogged something awful. I sprayed future over the fogged window and and it dried clear. I am still looking as I do not think the future shines as well as some other clears but I am a old dummy who is just now about to try polishing the clear coat. Dave which plastikote clear do you use ? I have found several types and do not know nearly enough to make a educated choice. Thanks! -
Looking Good. What polishing kit did you use? I am looking at buying my first to give it a try. Thanks!

The first set of decals were old Cady decals that even with a top coat fell apart so I bought a sheet off ebay and they turned out to be a poor photo copy that was blurry and smeared. I sent them back to the seller but never heard from them again. This set was also off ebay but from a well know seller and were not that bad. I just did not see the wrinkles in time to fix them. They are from the challenger funny car. I used a red marker to cover the name on the stripe which was a mistake as the red ink ran all down the side of the body when I cleared it. I have never seen Ramchargers stripes that were a candy apple red offered in decal form but that does not mean much as I have not been doing this long. I needed a Hemi for another project and wanted a rat roaster intake for this one so I killed two birds with one stone and got a Ross Gibson SS/DA Super Stock Hemi. The body came from reliable resin. The chassis is the best one I had in the old parts box. I am going to fix the engine compartment and do more detailing this week. Thanks!

Hello All This one did not turn out as I had hoped. The decals were a pain and this is the third set as the first two just fell apart. This set wrinkled on me a bit but it will have to do for now. This is first resin body I have ever built and I did run into fitting issues I have yet to fix in the engine compartment as the chassis did not fit up very well but I do not have a lot of parts to chose from.

I saw that one also, and thought it was a very nice tribute to Ronnie.

This is very interesting. I am just now finishing a Ramchargers project and am thinking of a few more to put in the to do file. Thanks

I love it! Thanks for posting! -
Thanks! Still learning all the new tricks of the trade. All the aftermarket stuff like conversion kits, bodies, and decals opens doors that were never available when I was last involved in the hobby. I am really enjoying building the cars I once thought could not be built because you could not find a kit.

Hey Jeryd! Glad you decided to post this. It looks great! Was this Johan kit 1971 kit? And I love the paint work. Stripes like that scare me but would love to learn how to do them half as good as yours. Thanks for the help on the grill paint! -
Love your choices in projects. Is that an Avenger Pro Stocker? I have heard of a resin body being made a few years back but have never seen one.
-
Great job! I was looking at doing one of his Roadrunners to go with a Cuda down the road but the paint scheme scares me to death. I had an awful time try to do a 72 Landy Challenger. It is still waiting me me to try and finish it. Look forward to seeing your the finished project.

Those look great. You did a super job on both. the resin body turned out really well. -
Hello Just finishing this one. I still need to tweak in the headers and some other little things but thought I would share it with all of you. This is my first try using a resin conversion kit. It started life as a johan 71 Cuda then I used a conversion kit from reliable resin to change the front, back and hood. I like the way the blue tinted head lights came out. Hope you like it.

Slixx makes seversl tire decal sheets. Do not know if they make one for what you are looking for.
