  1. Your engine detailing looks awesome. I especially like the tie in with the body colour. An interesting take on how you are replicating carbon fibre. I'll be following this to see how it turn out. Great work so far.
  2. Thanks dwc43. Two pictures showing the underside of the hood painted is good enough for me. Many thanks, now I can move ahead. Well I can move ahead after my last day of teaching for this school year, which is June 29!!
  3. I'm working on the '67 Cyclone right now. Did some research and found out the hood was fiberglass, same as the T-Bolt. I have already painted the underside of the hood body colour. Should it be a fiberglass shade with or without overspray around the edges? I've Googled both '67 Cyclone and '67 Cyclone restoration for images. No luck. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Bill.
  4. Curt, your rendering of the Cosworth is a jewel all by itself. Thanks for sharing this in-progress!
  5. Another substitute for Silly Putty is called Blu Tack. You just knead it until stretchy and then apply it the area of the part you want masked. You can reuse it as well.
  6. Thanks Curtis. I find that quite often magnesium wheels are called out to be painted semi-gloss black. Your wheels look fantastic. This colouring would be very appropriate for many wheels on Tamiya F1 kits.
  7. The finish on the wheels caught my eye. That's the best looking rendition of a magnesium finish that I've seen. Was it a custom blend of paints?
  8. I'm coming down with Peter aka 'fordmodelaeh'. So what he says goes for me as well!! Counting the days down already. I told my principal last week that she needs to book a supply teacher to cover Friday for me! Can't wait!!
  9. I have an address here, yes! Live here, I question that idea, only because everything is so darned expensive.
  10. A beautiful rail Drew. I always appreciated your "Bench Racer" column. I was amused by your 'rivet counter' qualifier. One of the best things about this forum, unlike others, is the fact that there really aren't that many rivet counter types here. For the most part, models are appreciated just for the fact that they are creative, inspirational works of art. Many thanks for sharing this piece with us.
  11. It looks like a real car photographed on a model base... oh what the heck... model is my final answer!
  12. I'm not sure as to what is supposed to be unusual here. It's a large scale Tamiya Lola kit. They are out of production and the last reissue was quite a while back. But I did find an Entex 1:8 scale McLaren M23 on eBay with a buy it now price of $6,500. No, I didn't add a zero, that is the price this person is hoping for! Deep pockets or what?
  13. I can't remember exactly which one came first. I built a few of the Aurora 1/32 hotrod kits, that were molded in one solid colour. I remember doing the 'Ohio George Montgomery" gasser kit. The one that stands out in my mind was the multi-version dragster kit called the Sizzler. Those were some fun days. I think many of my kits met the same fate as others, blown to pieces on May 24th long weekend.
  14. Looks like a great model with a nice clean build.
  15. I thought of models done by DamnCranky, and his excellent rusting technique using salt. See the post in apocolyptic build thread, on page 7. DamnCranky gives a response on how to properly use this technique. Might work with a couple of metallic / metalizer colours.
  16. It looks too real to be real... so Im going with model. Does that make any sense? LOL
  17. I've haven't tried this but I wonder if it might work. Try the salt method, used for creating rust, but use two different metallic paints such as aluminum and silver. Hopefully the salt would replicate an in scale finish.
  18. Jim, if single action is what you are accustomed to, why switch. Do some quick research on single action brushes and find the replacement you like. Just my thoughts. Bill
  19. I too believe that it might take Michael a few races to get back to pole form. I do think though, that he will surprise all with a podium the first time out.
  20. Pat, I know that you will do an excellent job. Congrats.
  21. That is amazing! What series is that car from?
  22. That's going to look wicked with flames the length of the body!
  23. One more from Toronto. I still think of my area as North York, even though all the separate areas amalgamated a few years back. So as Nick said, I'm about half an hour west of him.
  24. I'll say real on this one.
  25. Just bought a Fujimi Ferrari 288 GTO off of eBay this evening. I remember seeing one parked at a McDonals's (go figure) and fell in love with it on the spot. Seeings how I'll never be able to afford the real deal, this is next best!
