  1. 5 hours very well spent!!
  2. Thanks Tim for another fantastic review. I really appreciate the re-release by Revell USA of Revell of Germany Ferrari kits for two specific reasons - lower price and white plastic. I have one of these currently on order at my LHS as I have always found the Revell Ferrari kits very satisfying to build. They look great when completed but if never finished I do not feel I have wasted my money. I have both Tamiya Enzo kits [regular & FXX] in my collection that remain unbuilt probably because of the unrealistic commitment I would likely feel to devote the extra time to make sure I did a worthy build to justify my investment. I also have a real aversion to red plastic which both Tamiya and Revell of Germany insist on using for Ferrari kits.
  3. Here are some more photos including relatives. You can also check the album on fotki for under construction photos and photos of real F1 Woodies. http://public.fotki.com/phildaupho/1/1950-ford-f-1-woody/ Because I had cut things up so much, assembly was a bit of a challenge to get everything to fit together. 4. More photos added further down the post. Also please see post under on the workbench. Hosted on Fotki
  5. I am not sure how it happened but I just finished this model and posted photos to fotki. I am planning on doing an Under Glass post later today. Somehow a photo of the finished model is now the first thing you see at the start of this post and I did not put there!!
  6. Thanks Tim for such a complete review. I am looking forward to my kit arriving at my LHS. I have previously used excellent the Model Car Garage 67 Camaro photo-etch detail set on an AMT Camaro and was very pleased with the results and assume it will work well with this Revell kit. It includes the standard grill and the hidden headlight RS version. I remember seeing my first brand new 1967 Z28 in a dealership across the line in Washington State and was very impressed. Shortly after a local road racer got the first Z28 in Western Canada and successfully started racing it with very few modifications.
  7. I have been on a Woody kick lately with three under construction. I came across the great decal sheet from the Johan 59 Rambler I built a few years ago and decided to give it a change. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki

  9. Great model. I really like this style trend which is gaining popularity with 1/1 hot rods such as a couple appearing in current issues of Rod & Custom and Hot Rod Deluxe.
  10. Hosted on Fotki I am kind of surprised there is not already a thread of many pages regarding the soon to be released new tool Revell 67 Camaro. I have a stash of AMT 67 & 68 Camaros and Revell 69 Camaro Z28 kits to eventually build the three years of Penske Sunoco Trans Am Camaros. It will not surprise me in the least if Revell eventually releases 67 & 68 Z28's.
  11. Paul - I am using the AMT 3-window - any version will do. - Phil
  12. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki With apologies to Brian Wilson and Dean Torrence I recently read an article about Jan of Jan & Dean finally driving a ’34 Woodie for the first time after changing Brian Wilson’s Surf City lyrics in 1963 from a reference to a ’34 panel to “I bought a ’34 wagon and I call it a woodie”. In the original video for the song a mid-thirties Ford pickup is used with Woodie written on the door! I decided to convert a Revell Speedwagon from ‘32 to ’34 configuration thinking it would be pretty easy but it ended up requiring numerous modifications. I wanted to stay true to the original Tom Taylor/Dan Fink Speedwagon design but giving it a fresh look as a ’34. - The door lines on both the ’34 and the Speedwagon are very similar so I cut away the cowls and rocker panels on both. - Because the Speedwagon would need to channelled, the ’34 cowl required a slight sectioning as well as the interior - The hood sides were made from sheet styrene as I wanted them smooth anyways - Sectioning the grill was a bit tricky and the V8 emblem was removed - The Speedwagon rear fenders were used mated to the outer lips from the ’34. The fenders were joined across the back with a fabricated panel mimicking a ’34 fuel tank cover - The wheelbase surprisingly ended up being shorter than the Speedwagon so the rear axle was moved forward and was actually raised slightly. - The engine was also moved forward so it would look properly centred in the engine compartment - All of this now needs finessing
  13. Very fine examples of two great kits representing exceptional automobiles
  14. Could be right out of the pages of a Pebble Beach Concours Program
  15. Model looks real in the photos - very convincing - nice job
  16. I got Parnelli Jones to sign my model at the Pacific Northwest Historic Road Races near Seattle where he was the honored guest. He even said I got the blue pretty close and he should know because he actually was reacquainted and lapped Old Calhoun only a few weeks previous at the Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  17. I got a 66 GT grille non chrome resin from Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland
  18. Stunning. I have always loved the look of the roof on these XK Jags and they evolved nicely from the 120 to the 150.
  19. I just completed the AMT Parnelli Jones 1963 Indy 500 winning Agajanian Willard Battery Special Watson Roadster that was nicknamed Old Calhoun. I posted previously On The Workbench photos under http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=90890&hl= I built this model for a friend who already had the box autographed by Parnelli Jones and now can get Parnelli to sign the model at the Pacific Northwest Historic Car Races on the July Fourth weekend where Parnelli is the guest of honor. - The model was painted with Tamiya Pearl White and Metallic Blue - Had to make up a template to paint the blue. Kit decals for red scallops not long enough so used red vinyl which still needs some work. - Decals are definitely showing their age. The carrier had yellowed and was milky. - It was a fun and interesting project and I am glad I got a chance to build this model. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  20. All the wood and paintwork is now completed and the model just awaits assembly. I painted the wood framing and headliner with Testers Wood and with clear over top. The wood panels were brush painted with at least a half dozen coats of Pledge with Future. The bodywork was painted with Testers Arctic Blue Metallic Enamel with an airbrush and has not yet been polished. I installed flanges on the rear fenders for mounting. The seats are Testers Leather. 21. Thanks James for your post and I have sent you an email with a link to the Old Calhoun tutorial. I often get Larry Watson and Dean Jefferies mixed up but it was Dean who was the prolific Indy car painter and did the original livery on Old Calhoun in 1961..One year he claimed to have painted 22 of the 33 cars on the grid. I got this info from the Tom Cotter book about Dean Jefferies.
  22. Manufacturer - Porsche Model - 962C FIA Classification - Group C Base Kit - Hasegawa Scale - 1/24 I built this model during the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans and have posted photo under On the Workbench and Under Glass but was asked to post here. I shortened the tail and encorporated the wing and transaxle from a Hasegawa Nissan R89C. The wheels also came from that kit. The MOMO livery decals are from Fred Cady. The model was painted with Tamiya spray paint. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  23. Hosted on Fotki Currently on my workbench is a Parnelli Jones 1963 Indy 500 winning Watson Roadster that was nicknamed Old Calhoun. This is a model I have wanted to build since it was first released when I was a kid. A friend asked me to build the model from an old AMT release which he had Parnelli Jones autograph the box. These Indy Roadsters were really the ultimate in hot-rod engineering with Hilborn fuel injection and Halibrand wheels and quick-change rearend. The car was even painted by a hot-rodder Dean Jeffries. I came across an accurate build tutorial on-line but I am basically doing it box-stock. I did de-chrome all the shiny parts because mold lines were very evident and many of those parts were not chromed on the real car. I painted the car with Tamiya Pearl White and Metallic Blue over gloss aluminum. The next step of construction will be the most difficult. I have to mask to paint the blue. The decals for the red scallop are not long enough along the sides. I have made up a template which I can use for both masking and to cut the red scallops from vinyl. I may actually get a chance to meet Parnelli, as he is the guest of honour at the Pacific Northwest Historic races, which I am attending on the Fourth of July weekend. 24. Very sharp model and fantastic photography!!
  25. I began building this when the Le Mans race started and completed it after 15 hours. Eventually I will post more photos in the Endurance Racing Group Build under Community Builds but I am tired now so here is the completed model Hosted on Fotki If you want to see more check my fotki http://public.fotki.com/phildaupho/models-of-racing-cars/momo-porsche-962c/
