  1. Thanks, John! I used your tire tips on this one. I didn't perfect it, but I really like the look. So thanks for sharing with the board! See you Sunday. I'm really looking forward to seeing your cavalcade of builds. They're always amazing. -Art
  2. Ian, thank you for the nice comments. I used Testors Burnt Metal Metalizer, then sprayed some Tamiya clear blue on the headers and Tamiya clear red and blue mixed together on the front of the out pipes. Then I used a thin wash of a dark grey water-based acrylic (Teresi's formula!) to dull it a bit, then brushed some brown pastel chalk on it. Thanks, Ed! Mario was a great driver. Iconic! This was fun to do, but the carbon fiber took a long time. I think it's worth it, though.
  3. My camera broke during this build, so I have no more WIP pics, but I finished it up a couple of weeks ago. Today I got a new camera, so I posted it under glass here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37834 Thanks for looking! -Art
  4. This is a pretty common Indy Car kit issued around 1989 that I had wanted to build for a little while and at the urging of my son (who recently did the same model) I decided to give it a try. Enjoy! Many more here! http://public.fotki.com/alaski48/lola-t-8800/ Thanks for looking. -Art
  5. This looks like a fun build! I was wondering, do you happen to have any close up pictures of the engine block from both sides, by chance? Thanks, Art

  9. I have that exact same tool from Target, and it's great. I've used it extensively to open exhaust pipes and it's perfect. Great start, and I'm looking forward to watching this one! -Art
  10. Very nice! I love the realistic look. Even the clear on the paint is not over-done. Great job! -Art

  18. Very nice, Bear!!!! I've got a 37 in the queue, so it's nice to see one done well.
  19. Thanks, David. I really am enjoying sharing this with him. When I was young, I loved it, and I think the bug is biting him now too. Romell, I'll tell him you said that! He's got a great plane in progress now too. He's learning fast... Simon and Monty, thanks for looking and the comments. Very much appreciated! -Art
  20. Thanks for the comments! I'll make sure Matthew sees them.
  21. Looks great, Mark! -Art
  22. Here are some pics of the AMT Lola Kmart Indy Car that my son recently completed. He's only 11 and hasn't done too many models on his own, so I'm really proud of what he was able to do with this one doing all the work himself. Thanks for looking! Art Laski on behalf of Matthew Laski \
  23. I'm building this car at the request of my son, who recently built his own version. He's 11 and did a great job with a tough kit, which I am learning all too well as I work with this one. I've completed a bit more since these pics were taken, but our camera has since broken, so I'm not sure when I can post the latest! Thanks for looking and I welcome any comments. -Art
  24. John, It's not strictly a model car club, but the first Saturday of every month is the Temecula Valley Model Club meeting at Hobbytown in Temecula. While there are guys that build everything, there are a growing number of car builders that attend. Your post is a little old, so you may have found us already, but here's the link to our meetup page. http://www.meetup.com/TemValModClub/ This Saturday we are meeting at one of the club founder's house for a BBQ. You are more than welcome to attend. If you are interested and want more info, just let me know. Thanks, Art
