  1. Front suspension from the Highway Pioneers kit got a work over. Seat is scratch built from miscellaneous plastic bits and pieces.
  2. Scratch built a pseudo Halibrand Quick Change onto the Highway Pioneers rear axle using the blower scoop from a Revell Attempt One 4 cylinder Pontiac. Need to place the frame around it.
  3. Yes...it really should have a chassis of some kind...but how much fits and then shows is questionable. Talk about your 10 lbs of stuff crammed in a 5 lb bag!
  4. Body shell seems to clear the valve covers and carbs o.k....for now. The water tank ahead of the motor was cobbled together from a Revell 31 Woody wire wheel and some evergreen sheet cut to suit.
  5. First mock up....after initial cutting.
  6. 1-piece Wheel & Tires and suspension / hair pin radius rods from an ancient Revell Highway Pioneers Jalopy ( circa 1954 ). Engine from a Lindberg re issue of a 1/32 scale Street T of some kind.
  7. I've always wanted to build a belly tank racer, but there are no aircraft drop tanks in the automotive 1/24 - 1/25 scale. But I did find a decent P-38 Lightening drop tank ( just like the full scale hot rodders used ). It was from a 1/32 Trumpeter kit. But cramming an engine, suspension, chassis, seat etc is tough enough in 1/25 scale....is it even possible in 1/32?
  8. I keep my sticker in the big bookshelf that holds some of my nostalgic kits of the 60's.
  9. One Roth creation that will never be seen again...the Mysterion. According to a book on the man...it was bought and parted out a long time ago. Rumor has it the American Graffiti Pharoah's 51 Merc is supposedly wasting away in a chained up parking lot somewhere. And at the risk of starting another flame war about Steve Scott...the Uncertain T....whereabouts unknown.
  10. Indeed. They do a great job of writing up and searching for long lost rides.
  11. Hate them. Absolutely hate them...friggin wagon wheels. But I'm just an aging old curmudgeon Baby Boomer who loved the look of Bigs and Littles w/ wide whites.
  12. A built up Futurista model sold on EBay seven days ago...for $119.50, shipping not included. It was missing the VW motor. An unbuilt kit would probably fetch a lot more.
  13. Fingers crossed they actually pull this off.
  14. Never mind...think I found out what it is. It's a Kalmbach Publishing Special Spring 2020 issue of Fine Scale Modeler titled "Damaged- Weathered & Worn". Cover article is "Paint Bond's Lotus Sub. I don't think my local Barnes and Noble ever had it on the rack.
  15. A modeling buddy of mine emailed me saying that he was in a Barnes and Noble within the last day or so and saw a modeling magazine with a pic of James Bonds underwater car on the cover, thought I might be interested. So I popped into my local Barnes and Noble and it looks like they cleared the magazine shelf of any issues related to scale modeling....they usually have at least 3 or 4 issues of Fine Scale Modeler, Airfix and a couple of other primarily aviation or armor type modeling magazines on the rack. Anybody else see something with the Bond Lotus Espirit on the cover in the last month or two?
  16. ....madness.....MADNESS !!! I like it too.
  17. Spent more than a few nights on eBay looking for deals on all those kits from the 60s I couldn't have when I was a kid. Found most of them....plus a few nicer more recent ones.
  18. Was pleased to find that Hobby Lobby finally had the Revell re release of the '29 model A Roadster. I popped into the store last Friday at the end of the "40% off all model kits" sale and scored the last one! Picked up another rattle can of Tamiya primer with the daily 40% off coupon while there. Its too bad they dont carry the full compliment of Tamiya colors. But they do have a good assortment of modeling tools.
  19. I think the story about the changing formulation and quality of Model Master rattle cans was addressed earlier in the "Question and Answer" and "Tips and Tricks" forums. I think it was due to Rustoleum messing with the stuff. I was forewarned that the metalizer spray cans were no longer as good.
  20. Love the fogged paint....
  21. I can attest to Norm's great line of resin flathead accessories... the Thickstun heads you show here ( plus the matching air cleaner ) were popular marine racing parts back in the day . I used his fantastic Eddie Meyer of Hollywood flathead hop up kit on this channeled AMT '29 model A build, along with his Ansen headers. The flathead fuel pump also. He also has a nice variety of flathead distributors. I think Custom historian Rik Hoving might've had a hand in the original masters.
  22. My closest Hobby Lobby seems to only stock muscle car kits and truck kits....not my thing....but I guess they know what is likely to sell to the locals.Wish they had more 40s 50s hot rod / gasser type stuff. Was really hoping they would stock that re release of the Revell '29 model A...havent seen it yet.
  23. I've posted before...those Monogram 1/32 drag cars are little gems...nicely detailed ( for their scale ) and build up quite nice.
