I know what you're saying. I acquired a few "Little T" glue bombs over the years in my quest to put together my own "Little T" restoration. After awhile I succeeded...despite just about everyone I found having broken front suspensions and trashed window frames.

Did you ever get any assistance on that request?

I dont usually do "show cars " but at a recent Midnight Modelers club auction to raise funds I lucked into a 1966-67 Monogram Mattel edition of Steve Scotts Uncertain T. It was disassembled but not a glue bomb...very buildable....it even had a few extra parts. Unfortunately only one front tire ! I understand the 1/1 car supposedly had Harley Davidson front wheels...so they look fatter than the motorcycle type wheels found in kits like Revell's Road Agent, Mysterion and Tony Nancy 22 Jr dragster....and a tad larger in diameter. Anybody out there have a parts box that might have a broken off Uncertain T front wheel ?...Or maybe knows if those same exact wheels were used in a different Monogram kit...like a Tom Daniels show rod ?

I bought one of these kits many years ago and noticed that all the kits of the coupe were missing the hood sides, exposing the engine, while the sedan version still had the hood sides. Thinking this project maybe obtained a whole hood from the sedan kit?

Ive never tried it. Ive used "The Treatment" brand of polishing compound and wax...as well as the Novus brand in plastic bottles.

Most of them seem to be multi - piece bodies...but given the tiny scale they go together surprisingly well. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of detail....the wire wheels on the pick up truck blew my mind...I was afraid I'd lose the finesse if the paint was too thick so I thinned it down to almost a wash.

Thanks Donato...thought I should try to build one or two of those little kits before the sharpness of my eyesight and my manual dexterity starts to fade.

Yes ! Highway Miniatures by Jordan Products...created for the H0 rail road hobbyists. I grabbed a handful of them when a hobby shop closed in Richmond Va about a decade or so ago. Never got around to actually trying to build one until a couple of weeks ago and was impressed by the level of detail and fit of the multi piece bodies. The fragility of pieces like the coupe's radius rods had me wondering how it was even possible for injection molding of plastic.

Not sure I understand the "ins and outs" of that H.A.M.B. site then...not being a full scale hot rodder. I go there mainly to look at all the great photos that get posted...and I'm sure Ive seen a hell of a lot of gasser and dragster photos from the early sixties. So go figure. As for TRAK...they ran you off? Something you said was not " TRAKable " ? I dont post my stuff there...but do like the build threads...and Q&A threads. P.S. When I did my 1/32 Belly Tank racer I did extensive research on every website I could find...and if I recall correctly I think it was your "barn find" belly tanker that was the best example of belly tank modeling of all my finds...an absolute masterpiece...right up there with Steve Catron's Markley Bros. build decades ago...

It is after all a traditional hot rod website...with a cut off date around 1964-65 when the muscle cars started their prominence. Dont like it ?..dont hang around...Im sure there are plenty of other sites catering to whatever era you prefer. There's a scale modeling website called TRAK ( Traditional Rod and Kustom ) that runs along the same lines as the H.A.M.B. And if wacked out show rods like some of George Barris or Tom Daniels bizarre conceptions are your thing...theres Dave's Show Rods. To each their own.

Belly Tankers are an under appreciated hot rod modeling subject...probably due to no kits. After finding out that the real ones often used a surplus P 38 Lightning drop tank...I was lucky to find one on eBay as a starting point. Of course it was 1/32 scale...so everything after that I had to source from 1/32 scale kits. Talk about a challenge...it gives you an appreciation for stuffing ten pounds of stuff in a five pound bag.

That must've cost someone a pretty penny...

How old is Steve Scott now ? 81 ? Its something of a miracle he is still with us ( if the guy on his website and Facebook page is really him ). If he is still alive it would be a nice tribute if someone could get him to the shows to reunite him with his creation...but Im guessing there might be too much bad blood, lies and lawyers to make that happen.

You need context to fully grasp it. Radical Out of the Box thinking show car from the mid sixties...prior to the Tom Daniels era. At the time as crazy if not crazier than any of Ed Roth's cars. The fact that it was a quality build done by an unknown guy just out of high school, in his parents garage, and won multiple show awards added to the buzz. ( Famous TV Movie car designer George Barris supposedly slapped Steve Scott for some perceived transgression at an awards ceremony ). All this plus a well-selling Monogram model combined to give it a bit of legendary status...then in a flash it all went away. ( The over the top ridiculousness of later show cars may have played a part in that. ) Suffice it to say the disappearance of both the car and the builder in the post sixties only added to the mystique. ( that... and the rareity of the model kit after the molds were gone. ) Not everyone's Holy Grail...but the few original kits out there do fetch big bucks....

After all the years of gossip and conjecture...kind of exciting to see this hot rodding icon emerge to see the light of day. Crazy looking show cars arent my thing...but this one earned a special place in full scale and modeling history.
