Reading this post makes me realize that my only nephew is about the right age to start building snap kits. He loves the movies CARS so I think he'll like this too.

I think I'm going to build a COPO Nova/Yenko Deuce in the Unlimited Class. All I need is a nice 350. Also I look at the entry form and the current eligible models aren't listed.

I'm curious about that too because I have a '68 Charger already done up that I want to enter.

I built one but am trading it off because I'm not happy with it. BTW its an old build so thats why it is dusty and kinda crappy looking.

I really wish that I was born about 20 years earlier so I could have seen NASCAR in it prime. The cars were actual cars, the veterans actually knew how to drive and tune and it really was left up to driver skill and team work in the pits to win. I do like NASCAR, don't get me wrong, I just wish some things would go back to the way they were. The only real thing I don't like about EFI is that it takes some nerd with a computer to punch in a few numbers and boom you're done, while as a carb actually takes testing and fine tweaking, you really have to know what you're doing. I know things must progress with the changing times and that is inevitable but can't a guy wish?

Well fellas, times are changing, that fact is quite obvious and if you are a racing fan I'm sure you know how I mean. From factory-backed race teams to cars that look less and less like a real car every year. Now its basically change the decals, change the make. And Toyota???? Really?? Anyways I know you can't fight progress and even though I have my gripes I am still a fan. But the ultimate insult has come this coming season, the abandonment of the old, trusty carburetor. EFI may be more efficient in street cars but wheres the fun in tuning your race car with a lap top? This sport was founded by moonshiners and now their are more computers in a car that the space shuttle. I guess it may just be me but I say why mess with what ain't broke? I am sorry for this rant, I just had to vent. good night, and happy modeling everyone!

I do remember hearing that GM had pulled out of factory backed drag racing and maybe had done the same in NASCAR as well.

I like the overall build very much and like it even more after the wheel swap!

When it comes to models, there really is no "right" way. just build it how you like. I personally dig this one man!

I'm working on a 69 Baldwin/Motion car and will post pics as soon as I get all the parts and some work done on it

Never knew they bored them out, also didn't know that the cubic inch logo was mandatory either.

I remember reading about that as well. I liked how you could clearly see the crew in the reflection off the trucks chrome bumpers too.

I like how Stephen King plays a bit part in Maximum Overdrive in the very beginning when the machines start to go nuts. He's at the ATM and he says "Honey the machine just called me an ***hole!" lol That always makes me laugh. Also the part where the ice cream truck flips and comes at the camera was a complete accident and nearly killed the camera-man

Why does it say 429 C.I. on the hood? Didn't the Daytonas have 426's?

Thats gonna be a sick build. Also just FYI but I believe the valve covers are flipped backwards.

John Carpenter made Christine. But Stephen King did write and direct Maximum Overdrive, another of my favorites.

I just saw The Car again the other night and own a dvd of Duel. but my personal favorite has to be Christine. That car just looks evil on its own.
