  1. Very nice job. I would love to build this car but I am too cheap to buy the trans-kit
  2. This is just a stock Mustang I built for a co-worker. It is modeled after his personal vehicle. Revell kit DupliColor black and clear, parts box wheels.
  3. Very nice build, I love this race car.
  4. I agree with Dave. I will add that comparing NASCAR to NHRA is like comparing the NBA to the NFL, They are two different sports all together. The only thing NBA and NFL have in common is they both use a ball, NHRA and NASCAR, a car. Some would say that NASCAR is boring because they drive in basically a circle, and NHRA is a straight line and over in seconds, and that road racing is the only type racing there is. Others think that "drifting" is racing. I enjoy all forms of car racing, the basic premise in all racing is to have the best performing car, have a driver who can get the most from the car and make the fewest mistakes. Man and machine, who’s the best.
  5. Neat stuff. Acording to the latest issue of National Dragster (the NHRA official magazine) Current stats show the top speed record @ 324.98 Tony Schumacher 3/24/10 Gainesville Current stats show the quicked e.t. @ 3.752 Cory McClennthan 6/11/10 Englishtown. Also keep in mind that all NHRA stats are now based on 1000 ft instead of the quater mile (1320 ft) since the 2008 death of Scott Kalitta.
  6. Thanks 409, The decals are from SLIXX. They sell a sheet that has Firestone, Goodyear and Hoosier.
  7. Hi guys, I have had this kit and decal set in my stash for ages and it started calling to me last week. In a marathon build I have it finished and on my shelf. Revel kit #2874. Duplicolor Wimbledon White with Fred Cady decals and Testers "Wet Look" clear. I messed up the decal on the hood so I had to paint the stripes on it. Tires from the Revell Germany Ferrari 250GTO kit highly sanded and formed on a drill and tire decals. The wheels are resin copies from the Penske Sonoco Corvette kit. A few P/E parts. Box stock otherwise.
  8. Very cool.
  9. Great concept. You really ought to think about masking the trim before paint instead of free handing it. They would probably look better if the trim wasn't painted than it does now. If thats BMF and not paint... your doing it wrong.
  10. deleted
  11. That genenration is getting up there in age. Hope he gets better soon.
  12. They are Fred Cady decals. eBay is about the only place to find 'em anymore. I know I need an AMC. I have the old AMT Mark Donohue Javilin T/A kit. I need to build it.
  13. Thanks guys. My reference pictures were mostly of tribute cars so I am sure all of what I did is not accurate but it gets the idea across. This car is an icon in T/A racing and I just had to have one in my collection.
  14. Revell kit, Cady decals, Wal-Mart Color Place "Royal Blue" with Dupli-Color Clear, parts box tires and scratch made mini light wheels from home cast center and parts box rims.
  15. I liked that too, although I think Edwards is a bit of a jerk on the track. Mitch (FORD)
  16. Nice job. I love the vinyl floor covering. I looks just like the cheap stuff at Lowes, perfect!
  17. That is awesome Taz. Your eye for styling and the paint scheme all look professional and very sharp. This build is very well executed and with all the mods this could have crossed over to cheesy very easily but it didn’t. I am not a huge fan of the tuner type cars but I would be proud to own and drive that car. Its very sharp. As far as people not commenting here, I am relatively new to the forum as well and while I am glad to be part of it because of the quantity and quality of new builds, I find the forum to be highly cliquish and not very warm. I have posted several latest builds here (some I am quite proud of) with only a few comments. As long as you are posting to share and not for the accolades then this is a good forum. I look forward to seeing more of your stuff. Mitch
  18. Shouldn't that be "Starlette" Nice paint. I always thought it would be fun to have one of these with a small block in it...
  19. Thanks, the best way is with an airbrush. I start by spraying the whole header or pipe "steel" from Alclad II, (It wouldn't have to be the AlClad brand. Just a dark dark gray metalic) Next I spray the areas where the pipes of the headers (primaries) make sharp bends with AlClad "burnt metal" (this is a silver-gold color that is very light almost washed out. Next I put a couple of drops of regular orange paint into the burnt metal color and lightly spray the tightest part of any bend in the exhaust. Lastly I put a few drops of blue paint (just enough to bring it back to a bluish color) and radomly spray a few spots. If it looks a little too much like a rainbow I hit the whole part again with the steel color only I pull way back so as to just mist over the part and dull and blend the colors back a little. It's a process and there are many guys here better at it than me but the results speak for themselves.
  20. Revell kit with home cast wheels and home made decal side stripes. Parts box tires and headres (melted and stretched to fit) wired engine. Fun build. It came out pretty much as I had hoped.
  21. Nice work opening the doors and deck lid. The chassis is great too. Your paint work is really good. I don't care for all the detail being sanded off the body though. With the drip rail gone and no surface detail makes it look like a model with too many coats of paint on it. Otherwise your work is awesome.
  22. Holy Cow that's cool!!. What a clean build. That is a nice one.
  23. This is a third of the MPC (AMT) Indy 500 Legends tri-kit. Mostly Box Stock with parts box tires and aftermarket tire decals. Paint is Testers One Coat Lacquer "White Lighting" and "Star-spangled Blue" topped with "Wet Look" Clear. I also used various shades of Alclad II and Krylon Dull Silver. The engine is wired. This is a tough little kit. It could be a lot nicer with a builder with more patience and skill than me be but it turned out pretty good. I could pick it apart because there are several issues with the build, in other words my hands and skill didn't live up to what I saw in my mind for this build. Mitch
  24. I would love to get my hands on a Cadillac LMP. Island Collectables used to make one but it is discontinued now. Do any of you guys know of another source? Thanks Mitch
  25. Wow! Thanks for the link to the pictures Eric. There are a few details I am going to add under the hood like the 427 remote radiator tank that I stole out of my extra Shelby Cobra kit and an oil cooler box. I just love this car. It's a big ol' box but I think it just screams "I'm big and and I'm FAST!".
