  1. ^^^^^ Wow that is a great paint job. What are the salt flat discs for? The ref pic looks like regular old steelies...
  2. Nice work so far. The dark green looks good. Here is another cat for you...
  3. It is soooo hot here in KS, 109 today. But I am still painting anyway. I have the mods done on the chassis, (at least all that I am going to do) I used a suit case from an Union Ford GT Mk4 as a gas tank I have the fade done on the front of the car so I just need to mask the flames and paint the black.
  4. That's no defect but how the actual Shelby scoop looks. Looking forward to more updates.
  5. Its funny how just few subtle changes completely changes the looks of one of these cars
  6. I have raced a lot of cars over the years Nikko but this is my first purpose built car with real slicks. We blew the transmission up on the maiden voyage and thats why I am working on the model. My dad, son and I race for fun not seriously so its going to take few weeks to save up and buy the necessary racing quality transmission parts. So again that's why I am working on the model right now. We think the car will run in the low 12s I hope to touch the 11s. Its just a 302 with no power adders. Here are some pictures of the carnage from the first outing. More pics of the model to come. (I have all the damage repaired we just need to build the stronger transmission and get a racing drive shaft)
  7. Well, except for the Chevy power, I am digging this one. I will be following this build for sure.
  8. MOPAR = My Ol' Pig Ain't Runnin'
  9. Yeah, its in here somewhere. This is turning out to be a funner thread than I even hoped for. This is for fun not a serious attack on you DOH fans. The kit I am using is very lame and undetailed. While not wanting to reinvent the wheel her I am going to up the ante as far as detail goes. The first step is to ditch the kit engine and use one of the left over 427's from a the parts box from one of my old PL Talledega builds. The chassis and cage will need some up grades as well. This is probably going to stay a race car. I never understood how the General Lee was an old race car but had all the furniture inside and working light and street leagle exhaust ??? oh well
  10. I'm lovin' this... I've always thought if you chopped the top on a Pacer it would look just like a Porsche 928...
  11. Thanks Mark, your posts crack me up all the time. I feel privilaged to have returned the favor.
  12. I just re-read that and caught it but you beat me to it
  13. I would agree on your assessment of Gen. Grant being the more equivalent counterpart to Lee Harry, but since this a poke fun at DOH (isn’t that what Homer Simpson says all the time?) I went with who I thought might be a more direct and personal irritation to Lee. Besides I wanted to do the flame job so I went with Sherman for his "scorched earth" reputation.
  14. I got this kit in a trade and just didn't know what to do with it... Then it came to me... I am soooooo sick of all the General Lee builds why not build his arch nemisis. So here is the General Sherman a 69 Falcon former stock car that will tear up the old Gen Lee, I will be black with flames (sorry Atlanta) and have a Union Flag on the top.
  15. Nice start. I love boxey little race cars. The wheel base and stance look very good.
  16. Thanks Roger. I went with a pretty unoriginal name... "Mitch's Comet". Before I had it painted and put the trim back on I had a guy ask me why I put a Ford engine in an old Nova...? Hopefully the name will help clue in people as to what kind of car it is.
  17. I am going to try an make a model of my race car. The real car is a 65 Comet 202 two door post. I cut the floor out of the car just in front of the rear wheel wells and then cut 7" out of the middle. I welded that back together down the middle and then welded it back in the car with patch panels on each side. It has a ladder bar rear suspension with a 9" and a stock front susspension with added disc brakes. The engine is a 302 and the transmission is a C4. Since no one makes a Comet sedan any more (checked) I had to start with a hardtop. This is a resin body from Model Car World. Its a good but not great casting. I am using the top from a Thunder Bolt kit as a donor for the C pilars and top shape. The rest will be from the parts box and scratch. Here are some pictures of the real car and what I have so far on the model.
  18. Great stuff, I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of it.
  19. Very nice work. You are going to need a tinee tiny valve stem tool to pull that mini valve stem through that wheel
  20. Clean building. The rear end in this car didn't have a cover. The Ford 9" housing is solid. The third member or "pumpkin" is the only seperate part. The housing and brake drums would be a semi-gloss black and the pumpkin would have been red oxide.
  21. If you don't think the Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger are girls cars then you aren't looking at the drivers as they go by... The lion's share of these cars are produced with the V6 engine and are bought by women... Let's see who's shorts get in a knot over that comment... The New Beetle is a girlie car period. And what, you guys that think the old beetle was a guys car?... LMAO
  22. Nice build. I like the wire wheels. I have an extra one of these kits and I also have a Revell AG Ferrari 250 that I got some PE wire wheels for. I think I am going to use the kit plastic wires from the Ferrari on my Cobra. Yours looks great. I guess this would be a fiberglass Cobra body, with that big metal flake paint it looks like the huge metal flake gel-cotes they use on fiberglass bass boats.
  23. For me products were good, customer service was awful...
