  1. This is a mostly box stock build of the AMT 62 Bel Air kit. I added plumbing, carb linkage and wiring to the engine compartment and used Slixx decals. The paint is DupliColor Victory Red on the body and MM Italian Red on the interior. The decals on the seats are home made. I also added some brake backing plates to the wheels I think some pictures taken outside would look better but we are having rainy skys this weekend. This is one my best models I have ever built. Alas, the perfect model AWAYS eludes me... I screwed up the rear license plate decal...
  2. X2
  3. Thanks a million guys! The color is Dupli-Color GM491 with a very exotic name "Gold Metallic" I doesn't look gold to me. More of a champaign or metalic taupe which is what the Porsche color looks like to me. Masking it off to spray the semi-gloss black took a whole evening. I am not sure of the exact model, The box only says 88 911 Turbo. Its the Tamiya kit and its curbside.
  4. Box stock except for the tires. The kit tires were a little to low profile and I thought these filled the wheel opening better I have fixed the right side mirror since I took these pictures and its straight now. Duplicolor paint.
  5. Your pictures are terrible, too dark and too blurry... Probably why nobodys commenting...
  6. Okay... so it was like the fiberglass racecar of it's day...
  7. Ah ha! I did miss that tid bit. What was the reasoning behind that? By the way... John, this belongs in a museum. Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us.
  8. I must have missed some details... why is the body textured?
  9. This is the Revell plastic kit that is a spin off from the die cast. Dupli-color Wimbeldon White MM Clear Kit Decals Resin rear wheels with Alclad Chrome Parts box front tires and rear slicks (the kit tires have no markings on the sides) Parts box air box The real car was not a GT so I made a few changes. I used the "Bullitt" grill and added 0.010 styrene rod to make the corrals and a P/E running horse for a stock Mustang grill. Filled the exhaust cut outs in the rear valance. Removed the molded in battery from the engine compartment. Added some to the oil pan for a 9 qrt pan. Wired the engine. Removed the P/S pump, Air pump and the booster from the master cylinder.
  10. Here's one of my car
  11. One piece of bondo.... That is the ugliest front end I have ever seen... poor Camaro...
  12. Cruise for the cure... is that the Michael Scott's Dunder Mifflin Scranton Marideth Palmer Memorial Celebrity Rabies Awareness Pro-Am Fun Run Race For The Cure ?
  13. Next time take the lens cap off before you take the pictures....
  14. pictures?
  15. Thanks guys. I am not a kit collector but part of me wonders if I should have left it in the box.... nah....nobody gets to see it then... right?
  16. Nice build. I would use some black 3M or Trimline pin stripe tape for your bumper inserts.
  17. This is a box stock build of the AMT kit. This kit was a gift to me for painting the body shells of some 65 Novas. The kit fits together very nicely and buids up well. The chassis is very bland with all molded in suspension. The engine had nice detail but the engine compartment is the worst I have ever seen for accuracy and detail. The wheels and tires with this kit are awful as well and I robbed some other kits for those parts Fred Caddy decals with some kit decals ans some parts box decals Dupli-Color Red and White with Krylon Blue and Model Master Ultra Gloss Clear. Tires from the Revell Penske 66 Vette and wheels from the AMT Sumbeam Tiger kit.
  18. I grew up in Winfield KS and Darryl Starbird lived in Mulvane KS at the time. My grandpa had a auto repair shop in Winfield and Darryl's son Cliff had kind of a satilite shop in Winfield. They build a handful of the super custom cars out of the Winfield shop. We did some of the mechical work on some of their customs. This build brought back a lot of good memories. I'm looking forward to seeing it all painted up.
