  1. I've seen several of these chassis scratch builds and I am always amazed at how perfect they look. The scale of the tubing to the shape and bends of your car are perfect. How do you go about skinning these chassis? When comes to the floor pan and tubs how do you install those? When do you paint it, after the interior skinning or before?
  2. Well unfortunately I didn’t read your post, so I wasn’t “shaking the trees†and secondly why do you feel so self important that YOU are the only one to bring up an honest mistake on a build? I have a lot of respect for Brett's builds, just look at his 62 Chevy or 69 Chevelle. I just saw an obvious mistake and commented on it. I think the only smart(aleck) here is you. Why don’t you keep the cursing off the forum like has been directed and get over your bad self…
  3. That is looking great Brett, but I am gonna count some rivits here and let you know the fuel pump is on upside down...
  4. We seem to have a drag racing astronomer is our mist! I like the last one The Comet's Tail its all you're gonna' see
  5. Yeah, I am not stuck on using Comet in the name. It is a Mercury so that could be the jumping off point. It is also very boxy. I thought of the following: Blunt Object Quick Brick Midlife Crisis Rat Roaster Great White Knuckler The White Flash
  6. Wow you guys are coming up with some great ideas! I am terrible at this kind of thing. This is awesome.
  7. Those are some good ones, thanks guys. My son came up with Comet-kaze in a font that looks like Japanese lettering. I named my dads car, and we knew it was right as soon as we found it on line. Nothing has struck me yet for mine. I was a auto tech for 18 years so I thought about "The Mechanic" like a hit man. Keep 'em coming.
  8. The car is going to be Wimbledon white with some red trim around the side glass and "ReevesRacing" on the top rear quarters like my dad's car. Here is a picture I took last fall. The chassis is done (tubs, ladder bar rear, narrowed 9 inch, cage and sub frame connectors) The engine is in and the transmission is going in next week. Once it runs and and can move on its own power we are going to do the body work (rear quater patches) and paint it. I have a friend who does vinyl graphics. He did the graphics for dad's car and is going to do mine. Ben, you have come up with some good ones, thanks a bunch bro! Keep 'em coming!
  9. I saw Ben's post about graphics so I thought I would do the same. My dad and I race nostalgia type super stocks. He has a 63 Chevy Biscayne named "Bis-Quick" Like the pancake mix... We are close to finishing my 65 Comet two door post (not a Caliente) and I need a name... It is going to be a white car like his, (I recently did a model of his car) You guys have some of the best imaginations I know of, so give me a winner.
  10. MCM Literacy Advocate. X2
  11. Thanks for asking. He loved it. He called me today to tell me he was showing it off to the guys at the parts store. Here is a car I did for him a few years back that he drove for the Ben Robinson Buick dealership in Wichita. A 1970 Buick GSX special ordered from the factory for racing.
  12. Neat concept but the turbo set up should be on "There, I Fixed It"
  13. That one is an out of the park homerun, Super job Brett.
  14. Awesome Brett. Very cool
  15. Neat. Looks like a car I would see at our local track.
  16. Thanks! It's just good ole' Krylon silver. I think it was the dull finish.
  17. Well that makes some sense... Very nice collection they all look awesome!
  18. Thanks guys, Model Car World is where I got the resin trans-kit
  19. That Mustang is cool. I have Gliddens T-Bird on my shelf as well. Now I'm going to have to do a copy of that Mustang of yours. Very cool. I may have to redo a ProStock 2000 Mustang I did and make it the Motorcraft livery.
  20. This is a resin transkit Biscayne, my first all resin bodied kit. I had trouble with the vacuum formed glass fit, I probably should have tried to trim the pillars a little. I used an AMT kit for a doner chassis, parts box engine, wheels and tires, and a scratch made cage. I used a picture of the real car to make the decals. Its not great but my dad is going to love it. I am going to give it to him Saturday.
  21. I like the rubber gasket around the windshield and the body color posts but the body side trim should have been sanded off or it needs some BMF. It doesn't look right painted. And X2-lose the wipers.
  22. Thanks guys. I am going down to his place this weekend. He and I are building a 65 Comet for me to race and we are going to install the engine and transmission which is pretty much all that is left to do on it. I am going to give him this as a surprise. He knows I planned on building it for him but he doesn't know I have it finished.
  23. Slixx I believe, I have had them for a while and I don't remember for sure.
