That's an awesme section job! I can't wait to see more, old friend!

Firstly, welcome to here, and the hobby! Like Tom said, you can find a lot of satisfaction and fun with model building, and there's a LOT of really awesome people in the hobby (and active on these forums),some of the best poeple I've "met" anywhere (and I've been all over the country literally thousands of times when I was a trucker). You won't have to feel like a noob for long, and generally people on these forums (this one particularly) are very quick to help,so please don't ever hesitate to ask if you have any questons. Looks like you're off to a great start, that engine looks good, and you have a nice place to set up shop too. There's an on going-never ending CBP (that's "Community Build Project",where people all build the same thing or similar, and post them all together) for these Revell kits ('06-present Mustang kits) you should check out as well, see the CBP section (there's several similar CBP's going for Mustangs of various generations),you might gain some info, tips and definately some inspiration for your build there. I'll even save you the trouble of scrolling down to find it,LOL,here's a link to the thread... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=49069&st=60 ... Have fun with it,this is a fairly straight forward and fun kit to build (I built one a few years back when a new kit,and am gearing up to start at least one varient of it soon). I can't wait to see more of it,and feel free to share it in the CBP as well

'8 Dodge Daytona: Sem-replica of a1:1 I owned
Olskoolrodder replied to Olskoolrodder's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Yep,I remember when you built that one! It still looks cool,my friend! Cool back story on the 1:1 you had (horrible ending for it though, sorry about the crash... ). You know,it may very well be an '86...the 85's and 86's were the only onesthis generation to have the 5 lug wheels (84's had 4 lugs and 87's were popup headlight varieties). Good looking build! -
Lets do a 1964 1/2-1973 Mustang CBP to go with the others!
Olskoolrodder replied to Olskoolrodder's topic in Community Builds
Sweet! The more the merrier guys, get em rolling! This is actually the only pre 1979 Mustang kit I currenly own. I had one for almost every year (several for some-speaking of kits that were released and easy enough to find since 1980 or so),but (and here it comes again ...sorry,LOL) they all burned. No worries,I had way more kits then I would have ever built in my lifetime, now I buy ones spcifically that I know I'll build, hahaha! I'm getting going on this one today (barring any unforseens taking me away from the bench). I have aspirations of finding, procurring and building a Revellogram '64 1/2 ragtop alongside a detailed-up version of the '2010 GT ragtop snap kit they're rumor'd to be putting out in January. I think this will be a big thread eventually! As for the Mustang II years...I'm a diehard Mustang lover,I loved these too,LOL! I'm sure I'll eventually score another kit off eBay or whatnot,if nobodies started one by then,I will,I'm secure in my manhood(I'm even wearing my wife's pink housecoat as I type this,ha! ) -
With all the buzz in the other three Mustang CBP's lately-and that doing one for each generation was mentioned recently-lets see some older builds! If you're building any Mustang from the very first of 1964 1\2 to the very last of 1973 (before the Mustang II's),from economy 6 bangers to all out street terrors and everything between, post it here. NO END DATE (just like the others). I'll get it going with one I'm getting ready to start,a Revellogram '70 BOSS 429 for my (9 year old) son,Nick, which he will be helping some on. He's a bit into tuners more than ol skool muscle,so this probably won't be a rep-stock build,LOL,more like a resto-mod most likely. I've been preppeing the body for primer this eve (removing mold lines, etc),and will shoot some white primer on it tomorrow, mayb some color coats too. Been a LONG time since I built one of these Come on,join in

Thanks for that,Mike, and the engine's looking killer! Can't wait to see more

'8 Dodge Daytona: Sem-replica of a1:1 I owned
Olskoolrodder replied to Olskoolrodder's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Small update,as ALL i had time to do (so far) today was to mask the bottom half and spray it... Not my best pics. MAN I can't wait till tax time to buy a new camera,LOL! I'm not complaining,it survived the house fire, just doesn't shoot as good a pic as it once did. Anyways,I'll now set the body aside a few days before clearing and detailing it,and try and start work on the rest of it tomorrow. Thanks for looking -
No worries on not getting em up last night. When you get a chance, seeing te k-member mod will be helpful when I do get to this one though, but,LOL,that's gunna be a few weeks

'8 Dodge Daytona: Sem-replica of a1:1 I owned
Olskoolrodder replied to Olskoolrodder's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks,Mike! I had an '84 Lazer XT parts car for that 1st Daytona I ever owned. I liked it's factory wing better than the wraparounds on the Daytonas,it would have made for a nice car, fully loaded and such. There's an eBay seller called n2flying (Ithink it is),he had several of these in the last week. I've bought often from him (his name is Matt...if you buy from him, tell him "tinasteve1992" sent ya and said hello). I think I picked this one up for like,$15 or so,and another one, glue kit,for a few dollars more, and a popup headlight version too. He combines shipping (really good) too. Let me know if you get one and start a build I also have this one I scored from him,to build into the other 4 eye'd one I owned... And the popup light one... You can tell that first one is an '84,and the one I'm currently building an '85 by te wheels (though the ones what came in this snap kit aren't factory wheels),as the K-cars (all varients, including Chargers,Lazers,Daytonas) had 4 lug wheels through '84,then Ma (Mopar) changed up to 5 lugs for '85 and on. -
'8 Dodge Daytona: Sem-replica of a1:1 I owned
Olskoolrodder replied to Olskoolrodder's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks, guys. My third ever car (after totaling my second, the last Mustang I owned before the current one) was an '86 CS edition Turbo Z (silver and blac, more modded than this one),and I later owned an '89 Shelby Z that was fairly well modded (had no trouble with a stock 5.7L TPI IROC Z of the day...I had a couple those at one time too). I see a couple between '84 and '90 models running around here,at least weekly, but none are turbo cars (one's a late 90's ES V6 car). I liked em pretty well. I wouldn't mind owning another '86 CS edition restored (well...modded but looking "restored" ),black on tan leather would be sweet. I plan to add paint detailing to this build, try and do the exhaust up like the 1:1,add basicplmubing\wiring,stuff like that, nothing too outrageous (or time consuming...I have a few others I want to jump on soon,LOL). -
Thanks! Wish I still had it (unmelted),LOL!
-
I was surfing eBay a few minutes ago,and saw an old friend had been making some new resin bits since last I chatted with him,so used my ebay bucks and scored one of these hoods for like,$4.99 or so shipped,LOL! Lex's Scale Model Supplies. Sorry I no longer havethe link (was on my old PC),but I've known and bought fromhim for a few years now,he's a good cat to deal with. I'm thinking for whenever I get around to buildig that '06 GT (not saying it will be next )...
-
Thanks for the pics, makes mch more sense seeing it then picturing it in my head ,and thanks for the props on the Bumblebee The kit that got me back into building was the Revell '49 Merc kit when first released (see my username,LOL),but the Mustang made it stick. Flocking looks good!

Olskoolrodder replied to Olskoolrodder's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I shot the (Tamiya from a can,I have no airbrush) primer last eve,and hd found a can of Duplicolor in a really close burgundy,so I shot the top half this eve... I'll try and shoot the black around the bottom tomorrow, then set the body aside a few days to fully cure while I get going on the rest of it. More to come -
I have owned three of these over the years, this was the last, owned in the mid-90's. It was a non-Z car,but had the turbo and suspension goodies, and was also the least modified of the three. The only mods visible were a set of aftermarket 16" wheels and dual exhaust (cross over-pipe under the rear half, straight pipes),and was a burgundy\black two-tone. I did have some pics of the 1:1,but they were lost in the house fire we had back in June, sigh,so this is on memory,LOL! I'll be using this kit... ...and was lucky enough to find some similar wheel, albeit in 17-scale inches... Being a non-Z,the side skirts and lip under the airdam needed sawed off... More to come
-
Ahhh yes, here they are-they ARE in the P-Bucket. It was build completely box stock, and was actually the first kit sold (of the run) when first released at my LHS from then,LOL! It's still in piece, but pretty much gone never-the-less,melted jst enough to be obvious. S'alright though,I have another to build and I'll do it better Sorry for the funky sized pics,it's what's in the album apparently
-
I remember reading that the tires from the (AMT) Fast and Furious Supra (all varients) fit those wheels too, food for thought (I have one set of those unmelted...I had bought 3 of those kits previously just for those tires-was going to let my son build the cars-but most of em melted,LOL!). I'll use those on the first one I build, and get Santa (ie: my wife) to spring for a few sets of those Pegasus ones for Christmas. Rick,it would be awesome (and very much appreciated) to see pics of what you're talking about...I'm sure I'll 'get it' when it's in front of me,but it will be a week or three before I get to it. If you could get those up here, they might help someone else as well. Let me go into my Photobucket, see if any pics are saved of my build from '06 (was my second buildafter getting 'back into' building). I had buttloads of build and WIP pics of my builds on the old PC,but (do I need to say it?) it melted in the fire,LOL!
-
LOL,you're as bad as I am,Bradley! I'm HORRIBLE at getting going on something, then something new and shiny (figuratively speaking) catches my eye and then.... Question,I see on that link to Scale Dreams (I think I've bought some detail items there in the past,BTW,good place) that they have several different sizes in Pegasus tires. Is the 225/45/18" version the end-all-be-all replacements for the lot of these kits? If not, anybody have a list of which tires fits which kit's stock wheels? I'm probaly going for a series of factory stocks (or as close as my skill allows, anyways) for my first build through each (excepting the '06 GT,I've already built one back in '06 ). Also,my memory isn't good enough to recall and my stash of Scale Auto mag (as well as Model Cars) was pretty much wiped by the fire dept when they doused the house to put out the fire...I remember there being an article on the GT500KR buildup, and in it tey gave a good example on lowering these cars to a more accurate (or lower) stance. So what would be a fairly repeatable\simple technique (from the article or your own experience)? Thanks, guys. I still have to clear the WIP of at least one before I get going, but that will happen I promise

The Hornet's Nest: Hudson Hornet Build Madness!
Olskoolrodder replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Sweet! -
LMBO,Yep,and I had just bought the Dime a few months earlier than the Blazer It wasn't really by choice,at least not the Dime....when the house burned back in June I needed the $ to help carry us in the motel until Allstate kicked in*,I sold it to my Dad-but with the option to re-buy it come tax refund season next year. They had been VERY generous helping us get back going with clothing, furniture and such when we bought\moved into here, and when I noticed he was having to budget bills (something he earns enough to normally not have to worry much about),I tod him to go ahead and sell it,recover sme of his cash, which he did (after replacing the bad tranny). I took the Blazer to auction, just to see what it would bring (I was curious,LOL) since I had bought the Mustang (my avatar) with some of the insurance moneys. A dude from up in KY bid just a bit more than I could pass up (within a few dollars of my investment in it,which was before having put an honest-to-goodness 13,000 miles on it in a REALLY short time),plus I had the cowl induction hood off it and in my shed (which I traded for a really nice Kicker enclosure\subs\amp,which I sold today,LOL). I miss the Blazer lots,though...I could haul what I need to (garbage or bicycles mostly) easily enough,it was kool and slammed, looked nice, rode better-but it needed more work than it looked like it did,and at 209,000 miles... *If you're a home-owner,I strongly suggest you go through your policy and make sure you have enough of the right coverage to protect your family financially. While we did wind up with a nicer home and that Mustang GT ragtop out of it,had we not received so much in the way of help and love gifts of "stuff",we would have struiggled greatly just to get into a place. Allstate may have seen to it we got paid, and the old place was paid off (only owed 5 years on that),they severely screwed us with loop-holes and creative wording on the policy. I actually had to threaten them (to picket with a sign reading "I'm a disabled vet who had my policy here, ask me why my children are now homeless after a housefire",and yes,I had made the sign). Please make sure your policy covers your BELONGINGS as well as the home itself, and that you have a "emergency living expense clause" to cover motels and such (we did,but they screwed us from it-proof o that,BTW,not slandering). This isn't a bad on Allstate, just my local agent,I suppose. Anyways, sorry to get off subject. Bought the paint last eve (um...black,LOL from Duplicolor, can),and since it's entered in a "Box Stock" CBP that allows a kitbash wheel swap, going to use the chromed Torq Thrust look-alikes from Revell's '65 C10 step side truck kit,as they're a close enough match. I have one thing blocking the bench-space right now,but while it's a bit bigger job than the snap kit it began as,it shouldn't take too long
-
Mike and Bradley: Thanks for the tip on the tires The kit supplied ones...kinda suck,LOL! Good news on the ragtop kit coming too! I'll have to score another '10 GT donor for a full detail ragtop, and a second ragtop for Nick (my 9 year old) to snap fast (pun intended..."Snap-Fast_plus",get it? ). I sold a Kicker "isoberic subwoofer enclosure" (if I didn't mispell) I had taken in trade for that Blazer's cowl induction hood I had kept after church this morning,so I ran to Hobbytown this afternoon, picked up the '10 GT500 (1:25,not the big one, which I doubt I'll build) and '08 Bullitt,so (until December\January anyways) I once again have a complete set o the '06 and up. I'm knee deep in the detailing a snapper replica of a formerly owned 1:1 car for a (timed) CBP elsewhere (and I'm actually working on it,LOL),but that one shouldn't take too long,I can't wait to get on one of these. The only one of the lot I've previously built was the '06 GT,and that was back in '06...been to long (and since I've lost steam in the pair of SN95's on the bench for now...). Mike, liking that shifter much better So here's what I scored in the last 48 hours (already had the '06-?- Shelby GTH)...

Awesome builds, guys! Looks like I'm FINALLY getting ready to build one of my own soon. Have this small forum I host with an annual CBP,this go round's "Box Stock" class (ie: box stock doesn't mean "box art",and a wheel swap is allowed so...) is "Longroof's" (which includes SUV's ),so I'm going to use AMT's '95 2 door Blazer kit to semi-replicate the slammed '95 4 door Blazer I owned this year (odd...I had a lowered Dime-see my sig pic-and that Blazer, but I waited until both had been sold off to build one of these, weird,eh?). Should be fun
-
Mike: Hello old friend, long time no'see'! Build's looking FANTASTIC (as usual coming fromyour bench ). I LOVE those in red! We saw one filling up earlier today on the way back from the LHS (no longer local since we moved, but been going there over a decade and it's a local owned gig I like to support),we were filling up at the pump behind him-he in his '09 GT500,,us in our '94 GT Ragtop (both red,BTW)...it just felt too cool,LOL! Can't waitto see more on this one PS: Where can one order those Pegasus tires? As we all know, the ones in the kits are kinda...crappy and out of scale\profile. Thanks Bradley: Thanks for the info,I didn't know it was even coming (the '10 GT500 in the smaller scale),looking at it on Model Roundup now. I picked that lay away up today. The kits relevant to this CBP are a '10 GT,'05 GT,and the GT500 and GT500KR kits. There was a Bullitt in there, but thinking I had one at home already (I have the GTH kit already, thought I had the Bullitt too),I swapped it out for a Mobious Hudson,LOL! Whoops! Except for the '10 GT,which wasn't out before the hose fire,I had at least one of each of these, sigh. I'll be trying to order these two I'm missing hopefully soon. Any word on when\if they'll do an updated '11 with the Coyote 5.0L,or a Boss 302? Those would be killer (and presumably simple for Revell) updates,IMHO! I'd still love to see a modified '99 SVT into a GT or (even better) MACH I too though,LOL! Since I've been enjoying a really good spell with my ailments,it's really hard to get me off the bicycles (knowing a bad spell puts me off them ompletely and is always a "could happen any time"),so I haven't been working on anything lately, but with several new kits,I'm feeling anxious again,LOL!

The Hornet's Nest: Hudson Hornet Build Madness!
Olskoolrodder replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
I've been lurking, but waiting until I had one of my own to comment. NICE work on all these projects so far guys, really awesome! I finally got one in hand today :D . It will be a bit before I can jump on it,though. I have to move some both onto and off the bench before I can commit, but I'm getting some real inspiration in this thread, don't let it die off
