Thanks,Bradley, and thanks for the tip,I didn't know that . Actually,I won't be using the hood on this one (MAYBE),it was a spare hood from a spare body that I used for paint compatibilty purposes...unless of course,I ruin that resin hood stripping it,LOL!

Thanks guys,I'm pretty happywith the way it came out (better than usual for me,LOL! AND shot outside on the porch, the last several coats well up in the evening and 38-40 degrees ). Miguel, nothing wrong what-so-ever with getting a V6 version of either car. That 4.0L V6 in your present Mustang is only 5 HP less than the factory rating of my 5.0L back in 1994 (mine's not exactly stock though, whether it looks it or not ),so it isn't too shabby. I (now) live only 7-8 miles from Bristol Motor Speedway (of Nascar fame),and there sligtly uphill 1/4 mile Dragway (of NHRA fame),and from Sprin until Fall they run stret cars Thursdays and some weeknds,I get my fix mostly there...though it is hard to resist a good 1st-3rd gear fish-tailing-burnout on occasion (she said these tires have to be worn out before I can look into new 18" tires and Bullitt wheels ). I dunno if I'll be working on anything tomorrow...we only have one place to go visit, but it's 1.5 hours away right next to the old house (my Grandparents on Dad's side),as everyone will be there, but that's still 3 hours just travel time, plus eating\visit time (not counting an obligatory trip up the hill to go through some stuff in my old shed). I wish all of you all a great and safe Turkey Day tomorrow if I don't "see" you here before (well...I'm in VA,so it is tomorrowhere )

I decided that since this wasn't a bone-stock Bullitt from the get-go,and since I really like that blacked-out back panel between the tail lights (found on Premium equipped Mustangs, both V6 and GT's after '07,I think),I masked that off (as well as the cowl panel and around the mirror housings) before I shot the green. I can't resist a mock-up,so here's a few shots mocked up,with the GT500 hood on it... More to come

I wanted the paint to be a bit darker than the can's cap,so I shot some Duplicolor Unisversal Black over the Tamiya primer first,in several lite coats,wet-sanding in between, then shot the green over that, followed by several coats of clear (all wet sanded between coats). But first,I had to find out how the green would react shot over a color coat (black),so I grabbed the hood from the spare body that I first tested this paint on (a '07 GT500 body),and shot it... As it turned out pretty nice,I started shootingthe body, and here's what came of it... Wait for it....

Miguel, you already knew I love your build too,as I was watching up there as well, glad to have you here too GOOD looking Mustang,my friend,I'm looking forward to seeing it when modded too! Mine's (1:1) a '94 GT ragtop (see my avatar)...ANY year Mustang is awesome (I even love the MPG-packaged Mustang II from the 70's ). On the Charger vs Mustang subject,my Dad and I ALWAYS disagree on that one,LOL! (Now,I love the Hemi Chargers of the last several years as well),he's all in the Charger an wouldn't buy a new Mustang for half the price (coming from a man whose owner several, including TWO bought new in '88 ),and while I like em,I'd NEVER pick a Charger over a 'Stang (V6 vs V6 and GTvs Hemi). NICE V6 car you got there,Brother,LOVE it

1) Hey,farts are funny,Eddie Murphey made MILLIONS with the farts in the Nutty Professor movies, and 2) Pretty much all the time (when I do) Yep,yep, that's the guy,PSF Hobbies Sent me some free side scoops after a delay on the hood
-
GT350's looking SO sweet, you have to finish it,i'd be a crime not to! Jonathan, also (side scoops),I've both seen some on eBay,and I have a set-when I ordered that second resin hood I had poted a few pages back, there was a mold issue and it was held up while he corrected it,and for my having to wait an extra week,he sent a set of em'. I'll dig em out and post pics later, but if memory serves when I seen em,they were only like,$2-4 a pair.

Lets do a 1964 1/2-1973 Mustang CBP to go with the others!

WOW,it looks GREAT!!! I really enjoyed reading the back-story too,a bit of history I didn't know any details of,I appreciate the read -
Post 'em up here anyways,no need to make a commitment as there's no deadline,it's just a place to post them as you build 'em regardless of how long in between posts...besides,we (read: I) wanna see 'em!

Not the one colored on the box art that was mentioned... Dave, thanks for the tips on tires. I knew about the Supra tires and had bought a few of those kits on clearance at Magic Mart at the old place (NOT to bring the house fire up again,LOL),but most of em were lost to the heat from the house fire,I gots one set uneffected left though (and they're here ). Didn't know the Eclipse tires would work or that they were staggered sizing on the '10s (haven't opened it and looked yet),I may have one of those NIB salvegable over there,I'll check now that I know

Happy Thanksgiving, guys, hope it's the best and safest one yet. I know we have LOTS to be thankful for this year -
Must be,I ain't seen it neither...

Sigh...crud...I'm gunna have to go down to Friendship Ford and crawl under one of the two GT's they have ('05 and an '08 I think),ain't I? I might just do that, but it won't be this week, supposed to keep getting the rain we got today. Thanks,Dave (and all of ya's) for the info I got the remaining mold lines smoothed out on the body, and primer laid on for finishing tomorrow sometime... That's about all I'll do tonight, gotta get the kids up and out in a bit over 6 hours, and gunna do the eve's dishes before I crash (typical schedule for me,but usually later,LOL! I stay up late, get up early, and take a nice mid-day nap ). Rick, look for a PM More to come.
-
Thanks,Jonathan my friend. It looks to be in the right spot per the instructions,LOL,but they show it from the other side for that step (you'd think they'd known better than that,eh? ).
-
The body mold-lines need just a bit more smoothing, and I'll need to add a bit of putty around the wing holes (every 1:1 I've seen had standard,non-winged truck lids,no 'buttons' on any of em,so I'm no using them on this build...) and it'll be ready to spray the final coat of primer... I'm hoping to get more done to it later tonight. More to come
-
OK,here's a couple of hood shots (MAN I'm glad I used the wife's toothbrush instead of mine )... Almost have the engine done. Question, the instructions are a bit vague,is this the correct placement for te oil fillir tube? Got the base chassis spray done (this may not be accurate, but I'll go with what I know (read: I did it out of habit ),detail painting to come... More comng...
-
Sweet (and thanks)

ARGH!!! I took the hood and scrubbed it with Bleache-White (as per instructions included,"use Bleache White" was all that was said),but apaprently you're supposed to soak it in the stuff a while before scrubbing it,as the primer I shot in 2 lite coats (Tamiya synthetic lacquer) gobbed up and bubbled like it was still coated in PAM to release from the molds. More work needed there,LOL! I guess now I strip it back off,and soak it a while, try again Did a little more on the engine-not enough to finish it,but Ionly got 15-20 minutes on it last night. More today

Yep,it's there. I'd forgotten about that tutorial (had it saved andprinted in a binder in the old house...burned,I need to print another),thanks for reminding me Engine is mostly painted and half assembled It looks like I'll be doing rear wheelwell surgery to ft those Pegasus's in there too.
