  1. That's looking really good Richard and welcome to the forum. Keep showing us more. oldscool
  2. Thanks for the compliments everyone and Railfreak it's the sunshine that has got me motivated .We have had 4 straight days of sun. The first time the sun has shone in this area since Christmas!! Daniel, I like the satin finish too but from my experience with these Testors paints they tarnish and turn dark with age if you don't clear coat them. Especially the old plain silver, gold and copper. They seem to tarnish the worst where you touch them. I remember my uncle having an old AMT Lincoln annual that was painted copper and after a few years it turned a dark brown. oldscool
  3. Got another one painted today while the weather is good. This is Testors metallic copper. It has a satin sheen to it now but I will clear coat it after I put on the scallop decals that come in the box. Going to use the wide whites and stock hubcaps that come with it with maybe red wheels. Thinking about doing the area around the headlight buckets in red also. Will definitely go with lowered stance on this one. I haven't decided on the engine yet as I don't want to waste the Ardun flattie on a pickup. It will go much better in a deuce that I am planning. This one has got me really excited!
  4. Thanks Ryan. I did the chassis in red as the real ones were done that way from pics I have seen of restos. This is a great kit with no fit issues at all. It just comes with puny tires for a race car so I used some slightly larger tires on it. And I do mean slightly. Have your girlfriend post pics of hers when it's finished as I would really like to see it. oldscool
  5. That is the kit steering wheel and I will try to paint the rivets before i get the interior intalled. Everything on this build is straight OOB except the tires. oldscool
  6. Here's some pics of the paint. Two coats of Boyds True Blue Pearl over silver. it will be dry enough to continue work in about 2 weeks . Wish they made this color in laquer. oldscool
  7. If it is the new release that is molded in lime green then it may have a translucent look to it. I remember most of the kits back in the day that were molded in metallic colored plastic had a see- through look when held up to light. oldscool
  8. That could pass for the real thing. The interior is very realistic looking . I love it. oldscool
  9. That is insanity! I love it and so does Sprout oldscool
  10. Thanks Brian. I'm more of a Ford and Mopar man but every collection needs a couple of Camaros and tri-five Chevys oldscool
  11. Thanks for the comment Mark. I also built the old Revell 55 back in the day. I painted it light blue and had the Moon tank in the grille opening just like the box art.(I think). I also built the old Revell 56 Chevy with opening everything and it wasn't as bad as others make it out to be. oldscool
  12. They are the kit headers unmodified. The headers are one of the weaker points in this kit IMO. They just butt join to the heads with no locating holes or pins. I used super glue and they seem to be fairly secure. oldscool
  13. Here's one more that I got the chassis work done on. Tried to paint the body today but it went straight into the stripper for another day. Oh well, I painted three bodies today and only screwed this one up so I'm not too disappointed. This one is straight OOB as is my usual style. Comments and criticism welcome. oldscool
  14. Killer paint job and color choice! It's nice to see one of these built as something other than replica stock. I'm getting sick of Magnum 500 style wheels LOL. As for the grille, since you DIDN'T build it replica stock you can paint it any color you want to. oldscool
  15. Great work! That front suspension looks good also, is it OOB or did you scratch some of it? oldscool
  16. Here's another one that has been stalled due to not being able to paint the body outdoors. Did get the body painted today but no pics of that yet. Got the chassis and interior done. Once again, the pics show up flaws not visible to my aging eyeballs. oldscool
  17. Thought I would post something just to show that I am still building and hopefully to motivate myself to get more done. The weather is finally allowing me to get some outdoor painting done so I painted the age old Revell 55 Chevy street machine with red primer. I'm going to leave it this way as I have always liked the look of projects in red primer and have seen very few models painted with it. Everyone seems to go with gray or flat black. I wish this kit still had all the original Bad Man parts like the headers. I know a lot of people don't like this kit and it is kinda crude but I am building it for what it is. It has a great gasser look when it's sitting on the shelf. oldscool
  18. Freakin beautiful oldschool Deuce Love it,love it, love it! oldscool
  19. I like it! It has the "bowling ball" look to it. Some really nice models can be built from the Revell snappers. oldscool
  20. Beautiful build man! oldscool
  21. Looks great to me! oldscool
  22. Hey Jello, that was spoken like a true Georgia boy. Having spent 40 yrs in Jacksonville I can appreciate a good Southern breakfast. oldscool

  24. Ooooh! I love that kit! Had one when I was a kid and it came with a ton of options including a snowplow. Had a buddy that kept calling it the Baja Blister oldscool
  25. Speaking of bacon, has anyone noticed how hard it is to find good bacon anymore? Even the premium stuff isn't what it used to be. What are they feedin them hogs these days? About ready to start raising my own. oldscool
